Look Fantastic April 2019 “Raw Beauty” Review
Each box comes with a booklet that tells you more about the products included with tips on how to use them. The month’s theme is ‘Raw Beauty’ and the kraft box with silver edging is really pretty. I always love keeping Look Fantastic boxes around to store makeup, jewelry, and other important things in because they are always so sturdy and beautiful.
This booklet always has a detailed list of all of the products in each box along with helpful and informative information on each one.
Now, on to the items!
Emma Hardie Midas Touch Revitalizing Cream, 15 ml – Estimated Value $19.50 (Buy a full size 50 ml here for $65.00)
This cream smells very nice and natural. It is a pretty strong scent though, which I know some people don’t love but I enjoy. The finish is velvety smooth and this formula was really nice in my morning before my makeup routine. I wouldn’t consider it heavy enough for a night cream personally, but you guys know I am DRY. It has BAE Hyaluronic Acid to lock moisture in, and also Persian silk tree extract which sounds super fancy, though I don’t know much about it. It has a great not greasy finish and will be joining the other products I switch between in the mornings for a little hydration boost.
Balance Me Vitamin C Repair Serum, 10 ml – Estimated Value $13.96 (Buy a full size 30 ml for $41.88)
This serum features more of our boo, Hyaluronic Acid. It also has a big boost of vitamin C, which is great for collagen turnover and dark spots. The formula was instantly cooling and give me a little de-puffing action, something I really need in the AM. The packaging itself was really nice because you can just get a drop or two out at once, meaning no waste. I did find it slightly tacky after drying, but something like this works well when I used a BB or CC cream rather than a true foundation, as a heaver foundation didn’t seem to mesh well with it.
Grow Gorgeous Back into the Roots, 60 ml – Estimated Value $7.00 (Buy a full size 240 ml here for $28.00)
I have tried scalp scrubs and masks before and only ever liked one. This was not a scrub but was still meant for direct scalp application. I have really thick hair and getting stuff only just my scalp is nearly impossible. I did manage to get this mostly on the front area of my scalp before the strong menthol fragrance became really overwhelming and got into my eyes, which then felt like they were burning. It was really hard to wash out and left my hair feeling really oily and limp the next day. I actually scrubbed my hair with shampoo again the next night to get it out. I know a lot of people absolutely love this product (I read a ton of positive reviews!) but I really didn’t. I am going to pass it along to my husband who has really short hair and see what he thinks.
Bellapierre Mineral Lipstick in Envy, 3.5 g – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $20.00
I loved this lipstick. I don’t know a ton about the brand, and I will admit that the packaging could be more luxe and fancy feeling. But the color and slightly sheer formula is a total win for me. This stuff is moisturizing too, meaning it can be an all-day sort of shade without any dryness, flaking, or worrying. It is sort of a cross between a mauve and a deep berry, with a satin finish.
So pretty, natural, and buildable!
This mask smells clean and floral and reminds me of a scent I would wear as a perfume. It is an interesting formula because it feels like one of those sleep masks you just leave on, but the directions say to wash off. I think this is because, despite its creamy formula, it does have a little bit of clay, meaning it likely would be drying if left on overnight. I tried this one night before bed and found the scent was so calming and pretty, and after washing the mask off my skin felt so very soft.
I think part of me was expecting these bath salts to have some sort of scent ( I like scents, okay?) but they were pure salts. I ended up using these in a hot bath after a long day and added in a few drops of cedar and sweet orange oil and it felt amazing. I like using salt in foot baths too because the salt seems to magically ease soreness after a long day of wearing shoes that are cuter than comfortable.
And this box includes the latest issue of Elle UK Magazine:
Retail Value $5
The Verdict: This month’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box had some winners for me. I absolutely loved the lipstick shade and formula, as well as the recovery mask, with its delicate florals and low clay formula. The revitalizing cream was also really nice, and I had never tried anything by that brand, so there was some excitement there for sure. I am a serum-aholic, so it was really nice to get a pretty generous sized sample with great ingredients. I go through bath salts pretty quickly, so the full-sized pouch included this month was a treat. The only dud for me was that scalp mask, but I really think this just isn’t my sort of product after trying so many. The value of this box is around $88.93 (not including the magazine), which is fab for a $19 box!
