Personally, I think this is shaping up to be a great month, I want to try all these things. I think it’s probably the case for most of us who are not sub box newbies that we have backups to our backups of skincare and make-up product categories. I totally get wanting to pare down because it gets expensive and hard to manage in a reasonable space.
This month, for me, I canceled Boxy after nearly 2 years (I’m sure it’s just temporary but I am proud of myself that I did it). Tomorrow, I’m going to try not to do add-ons to my Ipsies unless I just really have to have something (like the IT brush). My “collection” of products is unreasonable. I’ve been trying to use things and have been experimenting with product combinations and layering so many different products that this past week my face finally revolted. I have dry skin so I have to moisturize but, It was so sensitive and irritated (as if I had a sunburn) that I had to pare down my routine to just the basics and use my most mild products.
I went to the Beauty Trend show at Nordstroms on Saturday and I had to explain at each counter appointment that my face was just on product overload and that I am typically not that red.
I don’t know if it’s possible, but I would love a semi-regular feature on MSA on how to incorporate the different sub-box items into a cohesive skincare routine. I know we can research online and on youtube, and I have been, but this is a unique challenge to skincare and sub-box enthusiasts to have so many single products from different lines. Managing overlapping and conflicting skincare ingredients ia a real challenge especially when you add in all the exotic ingredients which are meant to do the same thing. For example, rosehip oil serves as a natural retinol. How many different retinol-type products can we combine, lol?
I just want to talk to others who can relate. I know everyone is different but I think we can still benefit from one another’s experimentations and anecdotal evidence. 🙂
