Cocotique “Holiday Box” December 2018 Review
This month’s Cocotique Holiday Box was curated with the help of the beautiful and talented Cynthia Bailey. It includes beauty treats for your hair, face, skin, and nails that will have you looking gorgeous from head to toe this holiday season. The Cocotique info card describes the month’s theme and invites you to connect with Cocotique on their social media platforms.
The back of the Cocotique info card describes all the products included in this month’s box and has a link to the Cocotique shop with information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes. There are some discrepancies on the printed card but the information on the website appears to be accurate. I really appreciate when boxes make the extra effort to provide this information.
Essenza Shower Burst Bath Bombs Tablet in Eucalyptus, Lavender and Grapefruit, 1oz – Total Retail Value $3.75 ($1.25 each, found here for $1.19)
I love bath bombs but don’t always have the luxury of taking long soaking baths especially during the week. These tablets bring that bath bomb experience into the shower. Just toss in one of these effervescent essential oil tablets and enjoy aromatherapy filled spa-like shower experience. I’m getting over a cold with chest congestion so I used the eucalyptus shower bomb. It smelled amazing and helped clear up my sinuses and soothe my chest congestion. Win-win!
Bio Miracle Star Dust with Glitter Brightening & Hydrating Peel-Off Mask, 1.05 oz – Retail Value $5.99
This peel-off mask promises to brighten and hydrate your face for a glowing complexion. Evenly apply the product to your face, let it dry and gently peel off the mask for clean and tight pores. This peel-off mask is not just glittery, it is bright purple and has actual glitter in the mask. It looks really psychedelic and that part was fun. Peeling it off? Not so fun. I ended up soaking off parts of the mask that didn’t peel off gently. My pores did look clean and tight.
Bio Miracle Star Dust with Glitter Lift & Firm Peel-Off Mask, 1.05 oz – Retail Value $5.99
A different version of the previous mask, this peel-off mask promises to tighten and refine your skin. Just evenly apply the product to your face, let it dry and gently peel off the mask for the appearance of firmer more sculptured skin.
Eden BodyWorks Hibiscus Honey Curl Hydration Shampoo, 8 oz – Retail Value $9.25
Eden BodyWorks makes natural black hair care and body products. This is a popular brand that is often talked about and reviewed. This shampoo from the Hibiscus Honey line is safe on color-treated hair and cleans and nourished hair for soft and moisturized curls.
Eden BodyWorks Hibiscus Honey Curl Hydration Conditioner, 8 oz – Retail Value $9.25
Eden BodyWorks Honey Hibiscus collection was developed with hibiscus and honey to fortify dull and lifeless hair. This conditioner from the line will strengthen, detangle and protect your hair for soft and frizz-free curls. It smells yummy and has amazing slip which is perfect for detangling my daughter’s long and coily hair.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Coconut Sugar Facial Scrub, 3.17 oz – Retail Value $7.95
Palmer’s coconut oil products have always been a black beauty staple. Palmer’s new facial scrub contains raw natural ingredients and none of the bad stuff. Made with coconut and Tahitian monoi oils infused with Tiare flower petals, this sugar scrub removes dirt and dead skill cells to leave skin cleansed and bright. I found the scrub to be a little harsh for my sensitive skin so I used less product with more water and enjoyed the gentle scrub. My skin felt smooth and soft afterward.
L’Marie Nail Lacquer in Peachy Sweet and Sand Castle, Sample Size – Estimated Retail Value $4.00 (buy full size 0.44 oz bottle for $8.00)
L’Marie is a black women-owned company that creates 10-Free non-toxic nail polishes in an array of unique and richly pigmented colors. I love clean products and L’Marie’s mission. I received the Peachy Sweet and Sand Castle colors which seem to be some of the lightest and least rich colors available. I became a bit jealous browsing the available colors online. I feel like I need the Forever Green and Love and Sangria colors in my life. They’d look amazing with my skin tone.
Glamazon Beauty Cosmetics I’m Purrfect Red Liquid Lipstick – Listed Value $18.00
I love a matte lip! This super pigmented liquid matte lipstick comes in a variety of flattering colors including this I’m Purrfect Red. It claims to contain a unique formula that gives you a matte look without the feeling of dryness. The instructions suggest 2 or 3 coats but I found that 1 coat along was perfectly pigmented. I love this color! It was hard to remove though so apply carefully. But, once on, you’ll be ready for the holiday slay!
Glamazon Beauty Cosmetics Universal Glow Lip Gloss – Retail Value $17.00
This universally flattering neutral lip gloss hydrates lips and can be used standalone or on top of a lipstick for a glossier look. I usually stray far away from glosses due to the sticky texture but I found this gloss to be a lot less sticky and less heavy. The color is so pretty and goes well with my skin tone.
The Verdict: I loved this month’s Cocotique box! It is leaps and bounds better than last month’s box. I’ll use all the products in this box with maybe the exception of the really light Sand Castle nail polish. My favorites were the bath bombs. I’m inspired to make my own! But, if not, these are great and reasonably priced. I also loved Glamazon products. The quality of the product and the rich colors were impressive and very flattering. And, finally, I’m excited that I had a chance to try the Eden BodyWorks line. It’s a cult favorite and now I see why!
This Cocotique beauty box costs $25 with free shipping. I estimate the retail value to be $81.18 which is over 3x the cost of this box. That’s an amazing value for a box of really great and high-quality products.
