Facetory SEVEN LUX December 2018 Review
A welcome card was included in this month’s box providing general directions for masking and a tip that in winter if you prefer a warm mask, soak the bag in hot water then use it. YASSS! You want to be sure to cleanse and tone prior to the application of each mask. Each month, an information card is included outlining the main active ingredients and any special directions of each mask. This was very helpful as I tried each and helps me to pinpoint which ingredients I like best for future purchases.
Now on to the masks!
FaceTory Let’s Talk, Detox! Purifying Pore Mask – Listed Value $4.00
Anything with charcoal has a great benefit to my large pores, so I am always thrilled when I get a charcoal mask! I do have to be mindful of the volcanic ash in this formula, as my skin is already dry and this ingredient I find very drying. It is nothing a great moisturizer post mask can’t fix, and if you have oily skin in general, you will love this one. This clear serum has a barely-there fresh scent with a little citrus action. It stuck to my face well and left my skin looking happy and my pored just a wee bit less noticable.
Banobagi Milk Thistle Repair Mask – Buy a Pack of 10 for $28.99.
This was the mask I was most excited to try this month but I found it a little disappointing. I wanted this to have a little bit of a botanical smell, but it was entirely scentless. It was one of those that almost had too much serum, and as I wore it the clear liquid ran into my eyes a few times. It left my skin so sticky after that I had to scrub my face. This mask was not for me.
23 Years Old Cocoon Gold Silky Mask – Buy a 3 pack for $12.00
This mask had a medicinal/minty smell that I rather liked, and was a total chore to put on. Once it was on though, the sheet fit my face well and it had so much serum that I left it on for 30 minutes. My skin was much less red after removal and I was able to follow up with my favorite heavy moisturizer without any pilling from the remaining serum. I generally like 23 Years Old’s masks and this was no exception.
Dr. Althea Water Glow Skin Renewal Hydrogel Mask– Buy 5 for $21.99
This mask was super hard to put on and the 2-piece white hydrogel made me look like Jason. It had a very fresh scent that was just a tiny bit floral. I did not like this mask because it left so much residue behind that I found it unbearable and had to wash my face. It was just average in terms of hydration.
Shionle Pollutant Defending Mask – Listed Value $3.50
A lot of people are not going to like this one because it has a chemical smell that actually reminds me strangely of my beloved Perricone MD Face Firming Serum. This scent does not bother me and this was a mask that not only felt refreshing, but it felt like something was actually happening on the surface of my skin besides normal sheet mask hydration. This formula has broccoli, cabbage, and fig extracts which are all full of skin-loving vitamins. My skin felt super radiant after this one, and it was only minimally sticky.
Simply When Snow Song – Illuminate Mask – Buy 12 for $48.00
Would it even be the December box without a themed mask? This mask has a very light and delicate scent and promised to help the overall brightness of your skin. With power players like Niacinamide and aloe, this mask left my skin feeling very dewy and hydrated. It is also worth mentioning that this sheet had extra large eyeholes, which I really appreciate as mine are big and often come too close for comfort to the edges of other masks, making it super easy for serum to leak into my eyes.
DayCell Pro-Biotic 3 Step Total Solution Mask – Listed Value $5.00
Facetory usually sends us a multi-step offering and this one has a final step that includes beeswax! My skin absolutely adores this ingredient so I was beyond excited to test this mask out. Sometimes I dread multi-steps because I find they can be more than a little overcomplicated and gimmicy, but I adore this mask. The first step is a BHA pad that swipes away dead skin cells. Second, comes a mask with such a lovely botanical smell! The sheet itself is also so soft. Finally, a little bit of intensive cream to seal in all the goodness soaked into your skin from the pad and mask. My skin loved this one.
Verdict: Facetory sent a selection this month that was solid as usual. There were two maks this round that I could absolutely live without, but others I loved! The three-step was divine, and my other favorite would have to be the Pollutant Defending Mask. If you love sheet masks or want to learn more about them, this is always a solid subscription to consider. I estimate this box has a value of around $27.79, which is a good value for a $19.99 box.
