The Walmart Beauty Box is a quarterly beauty sample subscription box from Walmart. They feature brands you will find at Walmart, plus coupons.

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Box Review Open

FYI – They ask for your birthday at sign up to customize the box based on age. There are two options you could receive based on age: Trendsetter (under 35) or Classic (35 and over).

You can sign up for both like I did - just change your birthday year for the different account. Check out my post on the Trendsetter and Classic options to see how to get both options.

This is a review of the Trendsetter Beauty Box.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Black Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask Front

Black Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Black Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask Back

This is a purifying cleansing mask that bubbles while you wear it! Just put it on for 5 minutes, let it bubble, then remove! The fragrance is light (it didn't bother me) and I love masks that tingle, tighten, bubble, or any other indicator to let you know they are working!

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Kleenex Wet Wipes Front

Kleenex Wet Wipes Gentle Clean - Value $.06

These Kleenex wipes are ideal for travel. Basically anytime you'd like to wash your hands, but don't have access to soap and water, these will do! (And this individually wrapped wipe is perfect to keep in your purse.)

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Whole Blends Gentle Shampoo and Conditioner Front

Garnier Whole Blends Gentle Shampoo + Conditioner - 20 ml total Value $.19

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Whole Blends Gentle Shampoo and Conditioner Back

These foil packets are almost comically large considering they are single use! The formulas are paraben free and made with oat milk and rice cream extracts to be gentle on sensitive scalps. The scent is nice and sweet, too!

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Hello Whitening Toothpaste Front

Hello Fluoride-Free Whitening Toothpaste - 1 oz Value $1.50

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Hello Whitening Toothpaste Back

Charcoal toothpaste that isn’t a powder! Yay! (This is the equivalent of me finding a natural deodorant in stick-form instead of a jar!)

This toothpaste is fluoride-free, ingredient-conscious, helps fight stains, and it’s nice and minty! The formula is black, so if you’ve never used charcoal toothpaste before it’s a little weird at first, but it’s as easy to rinse away as regular toothpaste.

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - GREAT LASH MASCARA Front

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Very Black – 4.5 ml Value $1.60

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - GREAT LASH MASCARA Open Front

This formula must be a beauty cult-classic for reason, but I can’t figure out why it is so popular! It delivered on lash separation, but I couldn’t get great volume or length even after applying multiple layers.

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar Open Front

Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar - 1 oz Value $1

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar Open Back

This bar soap is gentle enough for both body and face, and it didn't dry out my skin either. The powdery scent is a bit too much for me, though.

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream Front

Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream - 2 ml Value $1.92

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream Back

This gel/cream hybrid formula is lovely! It absorbs so quickly, hydrated my skin immediately, and it had no detectable scent - I'm a fan!

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Biore Charcol Cleansing Micellar Water Front

Biore Charcoal Cleansing Micellar Water - 2.5 oz Value $1.63

Walmart Beauty Box October 2018 - Biore Charcol Cleansing Micellar Water Side

I love micellar water (it's perfect for gently removing makeup) and this charcoal infused version is great for oily skin. And even though the liquid looks dark in the bottle, it doesn't leave any residue on your skin - no need to rinse after using it!

Nivea Aloe Vera Body Lotion - 4 ml Value $.06

This formula absorbs so quickly! It's hydrating and left my skin feeling so soft. It also has the classic Nivea scent.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $10.90 That's pretty good for a $5 box from Walmart, but there weren't many exciting items for me. But between the toothpaste and the micellar water, I'm happy with a few product discoveries!

I was wonder when I will get charged for my boxes each season? Most do it around the first, but I can’t find any info on the Walmart one.

I love my Walmart beauty boxes. Always looking forward to what may come in them. If it’s something I won’t use, I definitely pass it along to someone that will put it to use. Overall, the majority of the boxes I’ve received are filled with awesome products that I enjoy and love using.

For 5$ this was a pretty awesome little box. I might not use everything that I received but I can pass those along. Looking forward to next seasons.

i’m so upset with walmart beauty boxes. I have tried for multiple seasons to get my boxes, change my billing, anything with no luck. Missed spring and summer boxes that i really wanted.

Loved this Fall WalMart Beauty Box. Full sized Degree Motion Sense Deodorant, Biore Charcoal Cleansing Water, Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner, Great Lash Mascara and Black Charcoal Bubble Sheet Mask. Also included were Garnier shampoo conditioner foils, Nivia Aloe Vera Moisturizer foil and a Cetaphil foil of Hydrating Eye Gel Cream.

This is a great combination for my profile. I appreciate @Walmart for providing a great selection.

The Degree works great. I tested it as it is a new product and I will buy it when I am done.
I liked the scent of the Charcoal water cleanser. It was refreshing.
The mascara is a timed favorite from my youth. I use it when I want my lashes to really stand out.
The liner goes on easily and seems to last.
I haven’t tried the other products yet. But I am looking forward to a night to pamper myself where I will try the sample sized items.

I just signed up for this box, and it arrived yesterday. I received the Trendsetter box (I’m 31).
I got:

Biore Micellar Water
Garnier Whole Blends Shampoo and Conditioner
Nivea Body Lotion
Cetaphil Under Eye Cream
Soo-ae Lip Mask
Freeman Gel Face Mask
Aveeno Moisturizer
Kleenex Wet Wipe
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner

I am happy that I got the eyeliner. I am also happy that I didn’t get the toothpaste, since I am leery of anything charcoal going into my mouth. All in all, I am happy with this box.

I got everything MSA got plus a tiny little eyeliner and 1 or 2 little foil packets that I can’t remember what they were. It’s kind of sad that the boxes are junk now. In the past at least if the contents were trash then the box was at least useful. Now it’s thin and won’t hold up for use as a storage option. Too bad really.

My box was a little different and came up to a value of about $16.50. Better than the last one, but nothing to write home about.

I just got my box: Biore micellar water, hello toothpaste, Pantene foam conditioner (a pretty sizeable bottle in my opinion), liquid eyeliner (that I swatched on my hand and it was instantly smudge proof, so I’m excited to try that out), lip mask, water gel face mask, la Bella shampoo + hair gel foil packs, Nivea foil pack, & Kleenex wipe. I’m happy with what I got and think it’s worth the price. But I also don’t mind foil packet samples, especially for such inexpensive products, since I usually only want to try it once.

Mixed feelings on my first box. I like the Cetaphil soap, kleenex wipes, face mask and lip mask (though I am a little disappointed I didn’t get the bubble mask to try!) I got the mascara and black liner – but I rarely wear mascara and liner so will probably pass those on. The Aloe lotion looks interesting but it’s a small foil packet, and I got some odd foil shampoo/hair gel combo – seems strange not to have it be shampoo/conditioner. I did get the biocellar water but it is for oily skin, and I have dry skin.

Basically, it seems decent considering it was only $5. It does seem a good way to stock up on toiletries for the guest room.

It’s $5 for every box? Or how it’s work?

My Walmart subscription is so messed up, I just received my summer one at the end of August. It’s like, really? Summer is over and I get summer.

Reply ButtonReply

Cynm

Sadly the box it comes in is worth more than the products lately. Even if it is only $5 I think it may be time to cancel.

Reply ButtonReply

July

Agree, I get only bunch of foils. Also canceling, better will buy more Target boxes instead, almost same price and I get to choose to buy or not to buy.

Trish63

I just signed up and there was a “natural” option along with the classic and trendsetter.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

It asks about style, but I think they just send Classic or Trendsetter based on age. I’m not sure why they ask the question on style if it doesn’t affect the box.

I couldn’t believe how well the Nivea lotion worked! It was better than many of the expensive lotions I’ve tried thru sub boxes.

The mascara was a flashback to 8th/9th grade. It was my very 1st mascara. 🤣

I have been receiving these boxes for about 2 years. I actually really like the products in this recent Fall 2018 box. However, my big complaint is the box itself. Wallmart changed the box that the products come in. I loved the box just as much as the products. I can use the box for various things. I’m not sure why they would switch boxes. Please bring the old boxes back.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

I didn’t even realize that in the review. They likely changed them because this design is cheaper and easier to store (flat/unfolded).

Rosemary

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is a cult classic because it is cheap, and works well on both the upper and lower lashes, and if you are using false eye lashes. It was recommended to all of us at the Makeup Artist school that I attended. The fact that you could afford to throw the tube away without worrying about the cost was the benefit that was emphasized the most (for hygiene reasons).

I am supposed to receive the Classic box. My box had mostly the same items as this box with two exchanges. Instead of the shampoo/conditioner packet, I received an Aveeno Positively Radiant Sheer Daily Moisturizer packet. Instead of the toothpaste, I received a sample size Maybelline Master Precise All Day Liquid Liner that wasn’t in any packaging or sealed. Some seasons are better than others with the Walmart box. This one was pretty useful.

Paula

I got the same. I was pretty happy.

For those of you with eczema or just dry skin, especially as winter approaches, Cetaphil bars are great to use as hand soap because they don’t strip your hands of moisture. There is also an antibacterial Cetaphil bar if you want that aspect of it, too.

Thank you for the info.

I have super light colored wimpy lashes and love this mascara. It extends and plumps them without clumping and looking overdone.

I think you can get the Hello charcoal toothpaste with fluoride at Target.

Angela

so much better than my last i was going to unsubscribe but this one is a hit with me

I am happy with my box. Some items I have already tried and others are new to me. For $5 I think it’s a good deal.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

I had 2 boxes and I cancelled both after the summer box full of foil sample fiasco. Not to mention not getting my boxes until the very end of the season (after emailing asking where they were each time). None of this is convincing me to sign back up. The most exciting thing to me is the toothpaste (somehow I never get toothpaste samples in these boxes) but since it’s fluoride-free, it’s a definite no-go anyways.

Reply ButtonReply

Rachel

Charcoal toothpaste is bad for your enamel anyway. Most dentists recommend against it.

Reply ButtonReply

LB

Right, that’s my problem…thinning of the enamel. My dentist told me that no matter what, just make sure you always use toothpaste with fluoride. I thought maybe I could try a charcoal toothpaste if it was more gentle and included fluoride but this one is obviously not a fit at all….

I didn’t receive the Biore micellar water in my box. My classic box is always different from what MSA receives. They need to get a different curator for their boxes. They are starting to suck. It’s sad the box was nice in the beginning.

Reply ButtonReply

Lisa

I didn’t receive it either. But, someone in another sub did receive it in their classic box, so we just got jipped.

I only liked my face mask and the little bar of soap, so after the winter box I will say adios to wally box.

Hello toothpaste, eyeliner, mascara (both re-homed), micellar water, mask, cetaphil bar and a few foil hair samples.
