Trunk Club For Women July 2018 Review

My month’s trunk arrived to me in its Trunk Club trademark cardboard shipping box fashioned to resemble a suitcase. I am rather fond of the personalized details in their packaging, especially the note from my stylist and itemized invoice.

They include a pamphlet that provides product information, how to get the most from your trunk, and free shipping label and tape strips.

Here is a close up of the list of items I received and their costs.

Button Front Pineapple Print Dress by Glamorous, Size 22—Retail Value $79

My stylist, Stefania, is fully aware of my love for yellows and golds. I sense that is why this dress was included in my July box. I had a case of deja vu upon seeing this dress because it resembled another yellow dress I got in my June Trunk Club box! Both dresses have the same button down, boxy shape, with a thin strip of fabric going across the back. I appreciated that both were yellow and I liked the abstract pineapple print on this month’s selection, but the dress’s cut does absolutely nothing for my figure. I am not sure if a lower size would have helped, but I still opted to return this dress. This lightweight dress is ideal for hot August weather and can be styled with hot pink platforms to add an additional pop of color and chunky bangle bracelets.

Paradise Multi-Stripe Top by Vince Camuto, Size 2x

Paradise Multi-Stripe Top by Vince CamutoSize 2x—Retail Value $89

If you look in my closet there are a ton of glamorous pieces, lots of animal prints, a variation of vintage items, and an excessive amount of striped clothes. Dresses, tops, skirts—if they are striped, I probably own them! The beauty of stripes is how versatile they are of a print! They are so classic and can be dressed up or down. I love this striped Vince Camuto top because the front is a slightly see-through material with limited stretch, but the top is a stretchy t-shirt like fabric. The top’s cut lays on the body in a flattering way. I also appreciate the retro color combo that screams the early 80s to me. This could be paired with the bright purple shorts Stefania selected for me or with skinny black jeans, open toed, high heeled sandals, and a black biker jacket in cooler weather.

The Arya Belted Shorts in Purple by ELVI, Size 22W—Retail Value $60

I was excited to see how these shorts coordinated perfectly with the Vince Camuto top selected for me. I rarely enjoy the color purple, but I actually found myself drawn to the shade of these shorts! Sadly, the cut and fit of these shorts did nothing for me. I have a major issue finding shorts that fit my belly, yet aren’t too big in the thighs. These shorts were not only excessively roomy in the thighs, but I also had a hard time keeping them from falling off my waist while taking pictures! I sense even if I had gone down a size, these would have needed tailoring. Ultimately, the prospect of keeping these shorts was too much of an investment in time and money for me.

Polka Dot Fit & Flare Dress by Glamorous Size 22W

Polka Dot Fit & Flare Dress by Glamorous, Size 22W—Retail Value $79

This dress has a great vintage/retro quality. It actually reminds me of something Pee Wee’s girlfriend, Winnie, in Pee Wee’s Big Top would have worn in the film! The fabric of this piece is rather lightweight, which is ideal for the hot, humid dog days of summer! It has ruched drawstrings at the sleeves for personalization and an inside liner for modesty due to the dress’s see-through fabric. This dress would look fantastic with some wooden clog, high heel, open-toed shoes and a floppy tan hat for a classic 70s inspired look or with nude heels and a white blazer for a fantastic office outfit!

Coral Tie Dye Jumpsuit by Glamorous, 22W—Retail Value $99

Usually, I avoid tiedye anything, but exceptions can always be made! As soon as I saw this coral pink jumpsuit, I was intrigued. I have been interested in finding a jumpsuit, they just seem so effortlessly chic and comfortable! I love the warm color and the light linen-like fabric. I couldn’t tell if this was meant to be wrinkled or not since the other piece included was made from an incredibly textured, wavy, gauzy fabric. I debated keeping this, but ultimately sent the piece back because the fit was a bit too big on me. I spoke to my stylist, Stefania, though and she is going to send me a smaller size in my August box! We will just have to see if that one fairs better for me! I styled this piece with gold accessories to complement this electric pink jumpsuit. This would look great with bangles, a floppy hat, and strappy, open-toed platforms for extra sass!

Lemon Print Sleeveless Top by Glamorous Size 22W

Lemon Print Sleeveless Top by Glamorous, Size 22W—Retail Value $59

Lemon print is all the rage this spring and summer; I have a similar print dress from my Dia & Co’s March box! Nothing says warm weather like tropical and fruit prints! This sleeveless top is made from viscose and has some stretch. The top looks great paired with the blue jean shorts or with the white denim pants Stefania included for me. My main grievance is that the top fits well, but is rather oversized in the armholes. If I move my arms my bra is exposed. It fits me like a muscle tank on the sides! I am not sure if a size lower would fix this issue since the top fits fairly well otherwise.

Corine Denim Shorts by Liverpool Jeans Company, Size 22W—Retail Value $59

Shorts shopping can be an undeniably tedious task. For me, I tend to have issues finding shorts that hug my figure properly, especially in the thighs. These shorts, however, fit like a dream! The medium rinse jean shorts have ample stretch and embrace my curves like an old friend! I love that the length hits me perfectly at the middle of my thighs too. The $59 isn’t a bad price due to how adaptable the shorts are. Pair these with a t-shirt and sneakers on for a casual daytime look, and then with a buttondown tied at the waist with platform heels for an adorable date night ensemble!

Donna Ankle Frayed Skinny Jeans by KUT from the Kloth Size 22W

Donna Ankle Frayed Skinny Jeans by KUT from the Kloth, Size 22W—Retail Value $98 (currently on sale for $58.80)

I just recently reviewed another pair of white jeans in my Dia & Co July box, so I was surprised to see another killer pair in my Trunk Club box! I feel as though these pants were made for me. They are perfectly tapered at my calves and ankles but aren’t too snug in my belly. The denim fabric has ample stretch, which along with the great cut make these fit like a dream! These would look good with a striped boatneck top, fitted blazer, and heels for an awesome work ensemble or a floral halter and embellished sandals for a cute end of summer look!

Acot Linea Sneaker by Superga, Size 9—Retail Value $79.95

As soon as I laid my eyes on these sneakers I wanted to screech, “Spice up your life!” I can envision Baby Spice dancing around in these sneakers and a pastel slip dress! The platform sneakers are rather comfortable due to the thick rubber soles and the upper canvas material. I would have worn these in the late 90s with a pair of JNCOs, but these shoes don’t necessarily fit my style profile these days. These shoes would look fantastic with a casual denim mini-skirt and your favorite t-shirt on a laidback Sunday afternoon!

Verdict: This month my stylist, Stefania, selected some great and vibrant pieces for me! My hands-down favorite pieces were the tie-dye jumpsuit by GLAMOROUS, denim shorts by Liverpool Jeans Company, white jeans by KUT from the Kloth, and the striped Vince Camuto shirt due to style and/or fit. Sadly, the rest of the pieces (excluding the shoes) had major fit issues. My favorite feature Trunk Club offers is their chat feature in their app. My stylist always checks in on me when my box is delivered and returned to get my feedback. It allowed me to communicate how much I loved the tie-dyed jumpsuit included and she was able to promptly assign a smaller size in my upcoming trunk due to that feature. How cool is that? I love how accommodating and attentive Trunk Club is from their app to the ability to arrange for UPS to pick up the box for free! These features truly make Trunk Club a stand apart service!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Trunk Club curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box’s styling fee costs $25 and includes free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the nine items inside is $701.95. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep anything, the $25 cost of the box’s styling fee would also be applied to the purchase. That’s an average $75.22 an item, which is on par with the brands included.

Vince Camuto shirt, jean shorts and polka dress all look great on you. Jumpsuit is gorgeous and I hope they have a smaller size to send. But like Michelle said that Pineapple dress DOES look like a beauty school smock…

Michelle

The jumpsuit is unbelievably gorgeous. I hope the smaller size works for you!!

I really love the lemon print top on you. I would wear a thin navy tank under it to keep my bra from showing, if it were me. It’s such a fabulous fit and print.

That first thing looks like a smock from beauty school. An ugly smock from beauty school.

Michelle, yeah the cut was not flattering at all. Not my cup of tea!

Lindsey

The white jeans, Vince camuto shirt and polka dot dress looked amazing. I might have to go buy that dress, tbh, loved it. These clothing sub boxes are generally a bad deal imo, but this one impressed me. Each piece was quite different than the others, so the point seemed to be to try new pieces you might not otherwise. Loved the post

Thanks, Lindsey! Yeah, I am glad some of the pieces were meant to be coordinated but could certainly pair with already owned pieces. Pretty rad! Glad you enjoyed the review!

My first thought about those shoes was that they reminded me of my baby spice shoes in my 90’s phase. I cringed to remember that. But the vintage blue dress and jumpsuit are amazing!

Just Beautiful, I love jumpsuits and have several but it’s a pain to use the bathroom when I wear them. I love the striped shirt and shorts on you and that color isn’t something I’d normally pick but occasionally the right pieces scream wear me.
