Dia & Co. Clothing Subscription Box Review – March 2018

Dia and Co March 2018 Box- 0001 - box

Dia & Co. is a monthly plus size clothing subscription box that is personally curated for you by a Dia stylist. Upon enrolling with Dia, I filled out an extensive survey asking me about my clothing size/weight/height, price range, and also my style likes and dislikes. Every month my stylist selects five pieces that could be clothes or accessories to try out. If I like them, I have the option of buying them. There is a $20 per month service fee, but the fee can be applied to any purchases I opt to make. A 20% discount is applied if I choose to keep all five pieces too!

The items in my box are chosen personally for me dependent and reflective of my style and price preference, so the package you receive from Dia & Co. may be entirely different than mine!

Dia & Co. March 2018 Review

Dia and Co March 2018 Box- 0004 - card

Here is that fashionable Dia & Co envelope I look forward to seeing every month!

Dia and Co March 2018 Box- 0005 - card

This month Dia & Co included info on their five-day try on policy. Also, they provide info on how to upload pictures of yourself to their site.

Dia and Co March 2018 Box- 0006 - receipt

Also enclosed in this adorable envelope is a note from my stylist, Ashby, telling me why she selected the pieces she did for me along with some helpful styling tips.

Dia and Co March 2018 Box- 0007 - receipt

The other form is an invoice. Mine this month is blank, but I got a copy sent via email to provide the prices for each item. Generally, the invoice has a detailed list of the brand, name, color, size, and price of each item my stylist selected for me along with the grand total after the styling fee and 25% off ( if I opt to keep all five items) is applied. The total for the pieces came up to $353, but after $20 off and 25% adjustment is applied the balance would be $249.75. That means the savings would be $103.25 if I did decide to keep everything! That isn’t too shabby! That would almost be like getting the clutch and Ryan Wythe dress for free!

Springfield Sleeveless Tie Neck Gathered Waist Dress by Ryan Wythe, Size 20 – Retail Value $65.00

As soon as I saw this dress I was attracted to the yellow floral/ lemon design against the deep navy and forest green shades. The rust piping on this dress is a great contrasting accent that I like as well. I was also pleased that the rust accent detail perfectly matches my favorite sweater! This dress is sleeveless and made of a light silk-like material, but that doesn’t mean you will be limited to only wearing it in summer months. This dress with a cardigan, tights, and booties easily translates into fall and winter months. It would also look amazing in the summer paired with a wide-brimmed, floppy summer hat, round oversized sunglasses, and gold sandals. The versatility of this piece makes the $65 tag beyond reasonable!

Carrie Perforated Clutch – Retail Value $39

Red is one of my favorite colors, so I was instantly drawn to this purse! The perforated rose detail on this piece is such a unique spin on a classic design. I also love that the top flap is able to be zipped shut to store items like your wallet and keys securely. This bag also converts from a clutch shoulder bag due to the gold chain strap. This is an incredibly versatile purse that will add a pop of color to any ensemble!

Koralie Cold Shoulder Ruffle Top by Rachel by Rachel Roy, Size 2x – Retail Value $85

My opinion of this top wasn’t the highest when I initially unboxed it, but my feelings changed upon styling this item. If I had seen this piece in a store, I doubt I would have tried it on. My first impression was that it was a bad retro 90s throwback style top. I came to my senses, though, and realized this top is more than meets the eye! I struggled to try to pair this top with the other pieces in this month’s box, but then realized how perfect it would look with a skirt I already own! I styled the top with a striped pencil skirt, black tights, and heels, as well as dangly, striped ball, earrings. The end result of this look is the perfect marriage of Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice meets Kate Pierson of the B52s meets a Fly Girl from In Living Color. The asymmetrical, ruffle, off the shoulder design seems excessive, but the eccentric details come together gorgeously. The fabric has ample stretch and is rather comfy. I also like the thick single strap because a bra strap can easily be hidden underneath. This top would look fantastic with a pair of skinny jeans, heels, and a faux fur coat or in the warmer months with high waist jean shorts and lace-up espadrille shoes. You will be living your best life in 1994 in this sassy number!

Rosie Embroidered Jacket by Jessica Simpson, Size 2x – Retail Value $89

Guys, I ain’t gonna lie to you, when I first saw this jacket I legitimately was baffled. I think I said something that rhymes with, “But the chuck?” when I saw this acid washed 80’s flashback. It is complicated with too many trends all at once! The distressed rips, the floral embroidery, and the bleached denim— I had no idea how I would style this piece. It made me think of hair bands like Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and Poison that were all over MTV in my childhood. My hair was not big enough to fit with this jacket. Then I put it on and realized how incredible and flattering the cut is. Some jean jackets are boxy or too cropped, but this jacket fits me perfectly! The denim isn’t too thick and bulky either; I was surprised by the quality as well. I eventually decided to pair the jacket with neutral pieces to bring out the embroidered flowers on the back and a shirt depicting my favorite hair hoppin’ country queen, Dolly Parton, that my friend Sophie of Dreaming of Johnny designed! This jacket would look great with a little black dress and cowboy booties in the summertime or a plaid western shirt tied at the waist and olive green skinny jeans in the fall. The jacket still isn’t necessarily my style, but it eventually grew on me—but not enough to keep.

Degraw Destructed Boyfriend Jeans with Embroidery by Molly & Isadora, Size 22 – Retail Value $75

I felt similarly about these jeans as I did the Jessica Simpson jacket. Once I put them on with my bell sleeve bodysuit and booties, I had a change of heart and felt like the ultimate flower child. The Stevie vibes were overflowing in this ensemble. I generally have my reservations about embroidered and torn denim pieces, but these jeans might change my mind. These aren’t as tapered as I prefer, but the cut is still rather becoming.  The jeans themselves are rather comfortable and the material has the perfect amount of stretch. The only issue I have is that styling these jeans would be limited due to the embroidery. These pants would look great with a vintage raglan baseball t-shirt, oversized aviator sunglasses, and boots for a relaxed 70s era ensemble or with a turtleneck, multiple chain necklace, faux fur coat, and platform velvet Mary Jane heels for a casual, yet glamorous look.

Verdict: This month’s box truly surprised me. Initially, I was unsure how any of these pieces related to me and my style. Once I began pairing the items with my existing wardrobe, I could see why Ashby sent some of these unusual pieces my way. That is the beauty of subscription boxes like Dia & Co: you just may surprise yourself if you are open to others’ suggestions. I also love that I was able to experiment with these pieces from the convenience of my home instead of the mall! I enjoy the convenience of trying different trends from the comfort of my bedroom instead of a poorly lit fitting room. I can’t wait to see what Ashby sends me next, especially once I provide her with my feedback!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Dia & Co curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $353. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20.00 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $249.75 for the whole box. Ultimately, that is roughly a 29% discount.

  1. I like embroidery a lot so the jean jacket has my approval. Also the red purse is very cute. Not enamored of the lemon dress or the striped skirt. I do not feel they looked flattering on the model. The print is too bold in my humble opinion and big horizontal stripes on the skirt not a good look on a plus size. The black top would look good with a different skirt maybe and the jeans were just okay. The black belt is cute but maybe paired with some other clothes.

    • Love the jean jacket and the black shirt with the cold shoulder look. Not a big fan of the jeans though, as I’m not a big “embroidered jeans” person.

In addition, the jeans don’t fit all that well..and I think you can do better..;)

    • All of these clothes are horrible. Glad I checked before ordering. Sorry, just being honest.

  2. I think you are amazing and your style is so fun…..but I want to throw away that belt for you…. I am so sorry!

    • ds, we are gonna have to agree to disagree because I absolutely love that belt!

  3. What size does Dia & Co. start at?

    • Hello there Elle Em, they start at size 14.

  4. Love the clutch and the black shirt. You have great styling techniques. Judging by your childhood you’re about my age. I still listen to the 80’s hair metal but dressing in that jacket to go to see one wouldn’t happen. A different wash with different embroidery then the potential might be there. Thank you for braving the cold for this review.

    • Thanks, Lee Ann! Yeah, I am thirty six, so I definitely grew up during the MTV days. I was always more into Motley Crue of the hair bands. “Too Fast For Love” is still good!

And thanks! I am used to this Tundra weather. It was 50 something yesterday and snowing in the 30s today. Gotta love it. Hahhaa

      • Hi. My name is Keith and I am thinking about signing up with Dia. I’ve seen it and am a fan on FB, but am unsure if just by hearing what someone likes, you can actually pick something perfect for their body. I am 47 and grew up in the MTV age too. My favorite band is Motley Crue and I would love to dress like that, but work an office job and can’t wear heals, so I’m limited. Can you help me if I sign up? I’m really nervous to get started. Thanks so much.

  5. “Come through, Kate Pierson, come through!” (paraphrase of an obscure Rupaul’s Drag Race line.) You are seriously stylelicious! Your striped skirt to go with ruffle top was so perfect that I thought it was a dress, and your Stevie black top and belt give me life. Thank you for being so dedicated that even snow won’t stop you. I’ve seen ads for this box on Instagram lately, and they looked good, so I’m glad to have more info about them!

    • Yessssss! Love me some Drag Race, so I appreciate the quote!
Thank you! Those outfits were so fun to style! I am glad you liked them. And definitely check out Dia and co! It is a super fun box!

  6. I enjoy reading all the lovely ladies on MSA when they review clothing boxes, but you definitely show the most attitude and personality along with showing us the clothes!

    • I agree, I love your reviews and photos Nicole!

      • Awwwwwe thank you, Emma M!

    • Awe shucks, Julie! That says a lot since everyone here is so amazing. I take that as a big compliment and thank you for checking out my reviews! It means a lot.

  7. The striped skirt, black top, and hair up = 😍 GORGEOUS!!!!

    • Thank you, TheOtherAmy! I don’t wear it up too often, but I happened to try it out for that look and figured I would go with it. Thanks again!

  8. Your outfits were so cool it made it snow.

    • Best comment ever! And my god girl you got style for miles! I wish i had 1/2 as great fashion sense as you! You’re gorgeous Nicole!

      • Awe, Stef! Thank you so very much! So sweet!

    • Garfield, I love it! Hahaha. Thanks for thr laugh. That just made me day out loud “too hot to handle/ too cold to hold” for whatever reason.

  9. You look cute AF!!! Style maven for sure!

    • Awe thank you, Beth!

  10. Love that denim jacket!

    • Thanks, jessicups! It is a fun one to style!

  11. That dress is fantastic on you as is the black top! I like the shape of the denim jacket but I loathe the distressed look.

    • Eileen, yeah the shape and but of the jacket is perfect. I generally am not a fan of distressed pieces, but that one grew on me!

  12. They all look awesome favorite was black top skirt. Love your hair up.

    • Awe, Thank you, Caligirl!

  13. Oh, Nicole! I legit shot coffee out my nose laughing at “My hair was not big enough to fit with this jacket”. OMG – you are simply too much! As usual you look fabulous in everything although I admit my personal fave is the black ruffle top with the skirt and hope you kept it.

Your reviews are the highlight of my inbox and I look forward to them all.

    • Carrie! Your comment in return made my day. It makes me so happy you enjoy the reviews so much! I hope the coffee didn’t burn ya!

  14. This is probably the best clothing review I’ve seen on here. My favorite it the print dress and the jean jacket. I hope you kept the dress at least. Looking good girl!

    • DH, Thank you so much! That means a lot since all my peers slay at their clothing reviews. And thanks that dress is ultra cute for sure!

  15. Girl! You in the black top with the black and white skirt is giving me LIFE! 😍 Keep waning to try Dia & Co but afraid everything will be out of my budget range. Just signed up for Gwinne Bee. Your posts give me confidence to step outside of my box and try some stuff 😘😇❤️

    • Kearstin, thank you so much! And you will love GB! I absolutely love how they are a rental service. Their prices on pieces sold are rather fair too. Dia is a great box as well!

  16. I LOVE your styling. Please dress me. That skirt you have on with the jean jacket is killer, and it looks like it was made for you. I love the rhinestone sunglasses too. I really think you can rock the jacket.

    • Thank you so much, Becca S. I had a blast putting these outfits together! I think that skirt is still on the forever 21 site if I am not mistaken!

  17. My fave on you: the jeans, jean jacket, ruffled top…I am amazed how well the fit is on what was sent to you! Dia did a good job with sizing. You are adorable and def have the knack for styling.

    • Thank you so much, Noelle! The sizing was spot on this month for sure! The ruffled top is one of my faves too!

  18. Love your styling – I can tell you have fun with it. Would be curious to hear what you choose to keep!

    • Yes! I wish clothing reviews included what was kept ☺

    • Thanks, Kim! I do try to mention in the reviews which ones I buy. It is always very tempting to keep it all!

  19. You are killing it in every look AGAIN! Get it!

    • Awwwwe thank you, Dani!

  20. All of these look so great on you! I’m loving the flowers on the denim jacket! And I usually hate weird neck lines/straps, but that black and white dress looks fantastic on you! Lots of great pieces in this shipment, I bet it will be hard to get yourself to return any!

    • Thanks Rhen Rainbow! That ruffled top and embroidered pants were probably my favorite of the bunch! It was a fun box to experiment with this month!

  21. All of these pieces look amazing on you.
Also that’s awesome if they let you keep all the pieces they sent!
I think my favorite is the black off shoulder ruffle top with that skirt you paired it with!

    • Thank you, Jessica! The black ruffle top was definitely one of my favorite items in this box for sure!
