CHC Vintage Accessories July 2018 Review
There isn’t a traditional information card or invoice included with the subscription box; you get a personalized handwritten card with styling suggestions instead. I really enjoy the personalized and thoughtful touch of this card and the handy styling tips that were included.
Green Wooden Disc Bead Necklace - Retail Value Unavailable
Kermit the Frog once lamented on how it isn’t easy being green, but I have to strongly disagree! This wooden disc-shaped necklace is the perfect mossy green; it could easily mesh in with the grass. It was rather fitting I received this piece serendipitously at the same time this perfectly coordinated green plaid dress by Modcloth from Gwynnie Bee (review coming soon!) arrived. The styling made me feel like a rock’n’roll Donna Reed! This necklace would also pair well with a vintage Hawaiian print dress and platform, sandal heels or with a vintage band t-shirt, skinny leg jeans, and booties--aka my go to!
Emerald Green Glitz Post Earrings - Retail Value Unavailable
These earrings are fantastic! I like the curved shape, it almost has a hoop quality. There is a Kelly green shade on the sides and in the middle a lighter green shade, but both have a frosted sparkle finish. These earrings pair amazingly well with the green necklace that was included this month: talk about a power duo! Wear them at the office for some extra pizazz or to amp up an otherwise casual t-shirt and jeans ensemble!
Wavy Disc Tiki Oasis Necklace - Retail Value Unavailable
There is an annual festival in San Diego every year I long to go to called Tiki Oasis and this necklace made me think of the sea of babes posting tropical, retro ensembles from the event on Instagram. The length of this necklace is ideal; not too long, but not a choker either. It is very similar to the green necklace, but unlike it, aside from color, is that the beads on this one are wavier and curvier. This piece is rather versatile and could be worn alone or with either pair of earrings sent in this box for a va-va voom statement! I styled the necklace with the gorgeous gold earrings Nicole and her staff sent me along with a tropical dress from Gwynnie Bee (review coming soon!).
Golden Geometric Dangle Earrings - Retail Value Unavailable
I was immediately excited to see these earrings because they reminded me of a pair I reluctantly returned from my July Stitch Fix review. I love the shiny, gold finish on these. They aren’t terribly light but are still comfortable to wear. These earrings remind me of the sitcom stars of my youth in the late 80s/early 90s like Christine Sullivan on Night Court or Angela Bower on Who’s the Boss?. This pair would have looked fantastic with your hair crimped and up in a scrunchie or worn present day with a vertical striped jumpsuit and open-toed heels. These earrings are a classic statement piece that cannot be pigeonholed--- I absolutely love them!
Beaded Velvet Tassel Bag - Retail Value Unavailable
This glamorous, pouch bag is made of black velvet with a beaded, cage-like overlapping detail and dangling tassel. It has a rope string strap and zipper enclosure as well. I generally feel like velvet season begins in October around Halloween and goes through into February, but I must say this purse paired awesomely with my Gwynnie Bee dress, gold slippers from one of my previous Shoedazzle reviews, and the other accessories Nicole and her team selected for me!
Verdict: This month’s CHC Vintage Accessories box was one of my favorites! I am always on the hunt at flea markets, thrift stores, and estate sales for wooden necklaces and the two included in this month’s box are my dream scores! I absolutely adore the earrings as well this month. It truly feels like Nicole and her team dove into my head and tapped into my deepest vintage accessory desires! They are mind readers, I tell ya! I was able to get pieces I love without sifting through racks at my local thrift store! I thoroughly enjoy the thrill of hunting down my trinkets and baubles at the local Goodwill, but there has to be something said for getting a piece that is perfectly curated for you without you yourself having to do the legwork. CHC Vintage, I love ya!
