Yummy Bazaar Full Experience May 2018 Review

Yummy Bazaar Full Experience Box info sheet

There is always a pamphlet included that talks about the featured country, which is Turkey this month!

AUthentic Turkish Tarhana REcipe

The back has a recipe to use one of the included items to make Authentic Turkish Tarhana, an artisanal comfort food.

And of course, they go through each item that's in the box.

Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi Turkish Coffee and Cezve set

Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi Turkish Coffee and Cezve Set - Retail Value $9.95

Whoa! I'm already really impressed with getting this cool Turkish coffee set that includes the cezve! I love coffee and seem to have collected quite a few vessels to make coffee with from French presses to Italian Moka Pots so this will make a great addition to my collection.

directions for making Turkish coffee

The back of the box has directions (in English as well as Turkish) on how to prepare Turkish coffee.

Here are the two items outside the box.

Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi Turkish Coffee

I love the design of the coffee can and by the looks of the front, this brand has been around since 1871.

The coffee comes in a sealed can with a reusable lid.

looking into tin of Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi Turkish Coffee

Turkish coffee is traditionally finely ground as you can see.

Turkish Cezve

Here is the cezve, or small long-handled pot that is used to make the coffee! It's so tiny at about 3.25 inches tall and a little under 3 inches in diameter.

3/4 view of Turkish Cezve

Here you can see into it and notice the little grips on the handle. It also has a spout for easy pouring once it's done.

Here's the other side.

I tried to have a go at making this coffee but my stove prevented me from using the cezve since I have gas burners that don't form a stable place for a pot this small. I ended up trying to follow the directions using a slightly larger pot I have (that I bought for making hot cocoa) and while it sorta worked, I think I need a lot of practice before making this perfect. I thought about using a tin pie pan on the burner to create a flat area for the cezve, so we'll see if that helps in the future. Still excited to have this!

Vintage Turkish honey with sliced nuts

Vintage Turkish Honey with Nuts, 16 oz. - Retail Value $8.95

Well, this is obviously the most gorgeous item in this month's box. Those layers of peanuts, pistachios, walnuts, hazelnuts, and apricot kernels among the honey makes this an awesome gift for a foodie in your life.

The jar is rather large and I'm just obsessed with the "Vintage" brand logo! Honey and nuts is a dope combo and even though I was at first unsure how to put this to good use, the info sheet mentions pancakes, oatmeal, and ice cream. Uhhhh YES PLEASE.

Hazer Baba Pistachio Turkish Delight

HazerBaba Turkish Delight with Pistachio, 8.8 oz. - Buy a 16 oz. package for $11.33

This is kinda crazy because I was JUST shopping with my mom and brother on Mother's Day, saw this at a store and was talking to them about it. I think my mom may have even bought a box! It immediately makes me think of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Am I the only one?

The sweet treat is a sort of a firm gelatinous texture made of sugar, cornstarch, water, vanilla flavoring, and of course, this one has chunks of pistachio in it.

When you open the package, this tray slides out in a nice presentation.

Just open up the wrapper to get to the Turkish Delight. They are dusted with a powdered sugar to keep them from sticking to each other which can be a little messy but well worth it. What a delight indeed, unlike anything else.

Kral Turkish Tarhana sack

Kral Turkish Tarhana, 500g

More great packaging, IMO. I just love anything that comes in a sack and this traditional Turkish soup is no exception.

The ingredients are yogurt, wheat, onion, and pepper (to name a few) in this dry mix, but you'll need more to make this dish. There are directions on how to make this on the back, but Yummy Bazaar has included an easier-to-read version on the info sheet as well.

I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet but am really looking forward to this since it sounds wonderful and is suggested to be garnished with mint! Yum. This amount (over a pound) serves 24 so I'll have plenty to go around!!

Basak Grilled Chicken Seasoning

Basak Grilled Chicken Seasoning Mangal Tavuk Harci, 2.1 oz. – Retail Value $3.95

Here is a product I recognize since I received it in the Yummy Bazaar Sampler Box back in March! At the time I hadn't tried it, but have since so it's a good time to revisit.

back of Basak Grilled Chicken Seasoning

I basically used this seasoning pack to make a paste with oil and water, and then coated the breasts in that before popping in the oven. I was really excited about it but ended up being a little underwhelmed with the flavor. It wasn't as flavorful as I thought it'd be and although it was good, it just kinda fell flat.

Ulker Krispi Spiced Crackers

Ulker Krispi Spiced Crackers, 1.90 oz.

Ooh cool. Some little snack crackers with tasty spices!

Ulker Krispi Spiced Crackers on a plate

My word these are the most delicious crackers I have ever had. These can definitely be snacked on instead of potato chips and are super flavorful alone but are also suggested to eat with the Tarhana soup! There's onion, parsley, garlic, and thyme to name a few spices in here and are super addictive! My favorite of the box!

Verdict: Yummy Bazaar Full Experience Monthly Gourmet Box ushered me through six different tasted of Turkey this month and I was delighted by everything I tried! The coffee and cezve was the big ticket item for me and a total surprise, while the crackers had me craving more. I really think this is one of the best snack boxes out there and would make an amazing gift for anyone who loves trying new food!

Turkish Delight always reminds me of “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” 🙂

Me too! I remember the first time I tried it, it was so magical to me because of the association. I think it probably still is magical! 😄
