We have a spoiler for the April 2018 GlobeIn box!

The theme for the upcoming GlobeIn April 2018 Box is…Fashion Forward!

Dear Conscious Fashionistas,

Let’s move the fashion industry forward, past the abuse of people and the planet. The Fashion Revolution began five years ago, after the collapse of Rana Plaza Factory in Bangladesh killed more than 1,100 people and injured more than 2,500 -- mostly young women. Since then, people around the world have united to use their voice and their dollars to urge the fashion industry to clean up its act.

If you ask #whomademyclothes, we will answer. Every piece in this Artisan Box is accompanied by the story of the person who made it, offering a small glimpse into their life and their skills. Demand change, join the revolution.

Cheers,
Angela
Artisan Box Curator

Each box will include:

Caftan, India (Retail $50)

Suggested use: Layer over a swimsuit for a beachy frolic, or wear over jeans for running around town.

Hi all, Liza here from GlobeIn.

Caftan material and sizing information below. We chose crepe rayon for the softness of the material. It also provides the flow-y look of the caftan. I hope you will love it as much as we do!

Size:
Length – 29 inches
Chest – 21 inches
Free size

Material: Crepe Rayon
Colors: Pink
Blue
Care instructions: Iron the dress using low heat or steam to maintain the wrinkles of the kaftan
Caftans are hand screen printed

Any information on a size range that this caftan fits? Not sure I could be so lucky that it’s like the Symbology kimono I just got, which is one-size-fits-virtually-everybody.

That looks low-quality fabric! How do they get so high retail value!

I was just thinking the exact opposite. My initial reaction was this might actually be cotton – an anomaly for subscription boxes and so much more desirable for summer than the usual poly. Typically I look at these sub box pics and think awe it’s a crappy synthetic again but I don’t think that’s the case with this caftan. Sheer does not always = low-quality which is what I assume you’re basing your reaction on since there are no up close pics of the actual fabric.

Symbology is worth every penny! It is block printed in India, and I just love that Symbology provides a global market to artisans who make clothing using traditional methods.

I just received my Causebox with a Symbology kimono and I’m head over heels in love with the super light, airy fabric and the beautiful print. I was so excited to see more Symbology in this month’s GlobeIn box, too.

Does anyone know if it is difficult to care for the fabric. It looks very comfy

I don’t see how you can get “low-quality fabric” from these photos. Personally, from all the caftan/shawls/ponchos/dusters/etc that have been sent out lately, these are the most appealing to me. It’s a nice shape, simple, and looks to be lightweight and therefore wearable in its intended climate.

I love it! It looks perfect with a tank top. Can’t wait!

I was also wondering how one can properly judge the quality of a fabric by a couple of pictures. But maybe I just don’t have trained eyes….

I would say because it’s a fair trade item made by hand from people in India as the description states each piece comes with a small story of who made it. It also looks like it’s made by block print. I’m not currently subscribed b/c it’s out of my budget but I think they do a great job of getting handmade and ethically sourced items/ fair trade from around the world.
