We're starting a new monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from subscription boxes! Here are our favorite items from the past month:

Marne's Favorites:

It was a 3-way tie this month!

Black Cat Self Defense Keychain

Black Cat Self Defense Keychain in hand

The Item: Black Cat Self Defense Keychain

The Cost: $8.99

From: Laserbrain Patch Co.

Why I love it: I love it because 1. Black cats rule! 2. It makes me feel safe now that it's getting dark earlier.

selenite crystal lamp (turned off)

selenite crystal lamp (turned on)

The Item: Selenite Crystal Skyscraper Lamp

The Cost: Estimated Value $25

From: Wonderful Objects (Coupon: Use code WONDERADDICT10 to save $10 off any subscription!)

Why I love it: I have been meaning to buy one of these anyway to cleanse my negative thoughts. How did they know I've been in need of this?!

The Item: Rose Quartz Yoni Wand

The Cost: Listed Value $110 (though I found a similar one on Etsy for $69.99)

From: Heart + Honey (Coupon: Use code MSA10 to save 10% off any subscription!)

Why I love it: I am really getting into crystals and this one is all about the self-love (no batteries required)!

Piibu October 2017

The Item: Neogen Code9 Oxygen AHA Bubble Peeling Mask

The Cost: $3.50

From: Piibu K-Beauty (Coupon: Use code MSA10OFF to 10% off your first box!)

Why I love it: I was so glad to have finally participated in the bubble mask phenomenon with this peeling sheet mask! This isn't the gimmicky novelty item that you sometimes expect with outrageous beauty trends. As the bubbles expanded, I felt a clarifying tingling sensation and was left with glowing, clear skin. Love!

Cat Claws Club October 2017

Cat Claws Club October 2017

The Item: Laser Cat Toy

The Cost: $5

From: Cat Claws Club

Why I Love It: I have gotten a fair number of laser pointers in cat subscription boxes but most of the time they don’t work very well at all. This one looked to be inexpensive but actually quite powerful. Even Mr. Kitty got in on chasing the red dot and I am always excited when he shows evidence of being able to see anything because he has so many eye problems.

Why I Like It: This was my first time drinking a matcha latte and it was delicious. The latte has hints of cinnamon, cardamom, and vanilla. It has a sweet milky taste and reminds me of green tea. This kept me warm and cozy. I love a hot drink that can transform my mood

Paleo by Maileo October 2017

Paleo by Maileo October 2017

The Item: Heavenly Organics Chocolate Honey Patties, 3-pack in Mint and Pomegranate

The Cost: $1.69 each

From: Paleo by Maileo (Coupon: Use code SNACKATTACK to save $5 off your first month-to-month box!)

Why I love it: I'm all about finding ways of making sweets and treats healthier, whether I'm baking in my own kitchen or supporting small businesses. These organic patties are made of three ingredients: 100% cocoa, raw white honey, and natural flavoring (mint or pomegranate in this case) and they're so stinkin' good! The bitterness of the dark chocolate paired with the wholesome sweetness of the raw honey makes for a delicious combo. So much so that I decided on the very first bite that I'll be buying more of these candies to keep in my pantry!

Stitchfix Mens

The Item: Anchor Stretch Jersey One-Pocket Tee by Tailor Vintage

The Cost: $29.00

From: Stitch Fix

Why I love it: The color of this basic long sleeve top is so unique and will easily pair with many different colored bottoms. The cotton/spandex material is extremely comfortable and for the price of $29, this top is a total steal, especially because it will work for all seasons of the year!

The Item: A Tiger Tail: or what happened to Anya on her first day of school by Mike Boldt

The Cost: Retail Value $17.99 (on sale here for $10.79)

From: LitJoy Crate, (Coupon: use code MSA5 to save $5 off your first box!)

Why I love it: In the book, Anya wakes up on the morning of her first day of school to see that she grew a tiger tail overnight! She is in shock, nervous to go to school, worried that girl’s with tiger tails can’t even go to school, and attempts to cover the tail. I love this book because it goes over all of the feelings we have when starting school, but it also shows that differences are what make us each unique and special. Even though my son is far off from school age, he absolutely loves this book! We read it at least once a week when he fondly asks for “tail, tail, tail!” The pictures are beautiful, the story is silly, but it ends with a wonderful message that I love sharing with my son Fox.

Sensory TheraPlay October 2017

The Item: Crazy Aaron’s Holographic Mixed by Me Putty Kit

The Cost: $19.95

From: Sensory TheraPlay (Coupon: Use code WELCOME to get 10% off of your first box!)

Why I Love It: My family loves Crazy Aaron’s Thinking Putty so the chance to create our own putty colors and name them was a ton of fun. This kit had enough putty and tins for all of us to make our own personalized version and we enjoyed it so much we will probably buy the other Crazy Aaron kits available for the holidays.

Why I love it: I'm going to have to go with the Muletown Coffee and cute coffee spoon from CrateChef this month! My husband and I were both sad when this coffee was gone, and the spoon is so attractive sitting out on our countertop. It's rare that I have a subscription box item that I literally use every day, and this spoon is now a permanent fixture in our morning routines!

Désirée's Favorite:

The Item: Haunted Dollhouse

The Cost: $175 for 5 weeks (read my reviews for weeks 1 and 2!)

From: The Case of the Haunted Dollhouse

Why I love it: I've really enjoyed seeing the little pile of wood that arrived in the first box be transformed into a lovely house. Although it's still a work in progress, it's been a perfect decoration for October. I look forward to seeing the dollhouse completed and to solving its mysteries.

Nicole's Favorite:

The Item: Julien Mesh Trim Dress by Le Lis Size 3x

From: StitchFix

The Cost: $74 ($54 after $20 Stylist Fee is applied)

Why I love it: This was a tough call because I had SO MANY good items to review this month (including the boots I styled this dress with from my Shoe Dazzle review and the blue velvet flats)! That all being said, this Le Lis dress still comes out on top! I love everything about it: the cut, the very late 60’s style, the flowy fabric, the way the sleeves drape, the dotted mesh yolk, and the retro somber Andy Warhol-esque flower pattern! I am a smitten kitten for this dress and at the price of $54 after discounts--- it would be foolish to deny it a space in my closet!

Accio October 2017

The Item: Dark Magic Soy Candle

The Cost: $18

From: Accio! Harry Potter Subscription Box

Why I love it: I like the unusual theme for this candle and the mint & eucalyptus scent is perfection. Fresh and lasting!

Eric's Favorite:

The Box: October's The Nick Box

The Cost: $49.99 + $7 S/H

Why I love it: It was the perfect selection of the Nicktoons that I really loved growing up - and the items were so usable at the same time.

Liz's Favorite:

 The Item: NOTO Deep Serum

The Cost: $29

From: Glowing Beets (Coupon: Use coupon code 10OFF to save 10% off your first box!)

Why I love it: This serum is made with grapefruit oil and it is officially my favorite scent ever! It’s a rich serum, but it absorbs pretty quickly considering. (It gets that beautiful orange hue from carrot oil!) I love that this works for face and neck, day and night, too!

I like a lot of the things I get from my many boxes but I think the things I always love and use the most are the skincare products from Sisley. I incorporate whatever I receive into my routine. They’re the only products I’ve ever actually cut open and used every last drop.

There were some good picks. Marne’s were my favorite, and the food and the Tiger Tail book are at the top of my list also.

@liz – it would be great if these linked to the original post so we could read the entire box review. FYI – Noto was from Sept.!

Thanks! Actually, all links should go to the original post, it looks like the first one (Laserbrain) was incorrectly linked, so I’ll fix that now.

(And I think I was behind in reviewing that Glowing Beets box, so my favorite was a bit delayed, too 🙂 I’m just obsessed with it!)

My favorites were:

Context Vitamin C all day eye cream from Ipsy – I generally have puffy/dark circles undereye, plus I just gave birth. This eye cream has been keeping me bright-eyed and puff-free since I started using it at the hospital – even when I am massively sleep deprived!

Maestro watch from Sprezzabox (will make an amazing gift!)

Julep Take a Breather Nail Oxygen Treatment from the GMA Discover the Deal box: Great coverage and the sheer ivory is such a nice, healthy looking shade. I will see how well it does over the next couple weeks in rejuvenating my nails.
