MorpheMe October 2017

All of this month's brushes are a pretty shade of light pink in honor of Breast Cancer awareness. MorpheMe encourages subscribers to join them in the movement to bring attention to the cause by creating looks using these exclusive pink brushes + the classic pink ribbon that symbolizes Breast Cancer awareness. Tag #MorpheMe on social to take part (and potentially win some goodies). Visit nationalbreastcancer.org to find out ways you can help or donate.

Onto the brushes themselves. Let's talk about 'em:

Morphe PK36 Tapered Blending Brush - Value $6.00? (buy a similar style from Morphe)

Because this set of pink brushes is an October exclusive, I couldn't find the exact styles on the MorpheMe website. I will link to similar versions of each brush, however.

This eyeshadow blender is soft, gentle, and perfect for smoothing out the crease of your eye look. I also used it to apply powder highlighter to small areas of my face like the cupid's bow and inner corners of the eyes, precisely. I'll talk more about that below! Overall, this brush is super versatile.

Morphe PK524 Oval Shadow Brush - Value $3.00 (buy a similar style from Morphe)

Another eye brush, this style is better suited for packing shadow on the lid. Its bristles are a bit loose and soft for a shadow brush making it ideal for natural application. You could also blend a bit with this one. It would be great for applying dense color to the outer corners and blending out a bit.

Morphe PK4 Contour Blush Brush - Value $8.00 (buy a similar style from Morphe)

This tapered blending brush is great for controlled blush application or contouring with bronzer. I used it to carve out my cheeks with a matte bronzer for some shadow. It's super soft and feels substantial.

Morphe PK14 Tapered Powder Brush - Value $15.00 (buy a similar style from Morphe)

So fluffy! This big brush actually offers a lot of control. I used it to set my tinted moisturizer with a bit of loose powder, but it also worked well to blend out my bronzer and blush and also add some powder highlighter to my cheekbones.

Morphe PK45 Angle Brow - Value $2.00 (buy a similar style from Morphe)

I normally use a pencil on my brows followed by a gel, but I was intrigued by the idea of adding more accurate shape to my brows with a bit of powder. It's something I used to do when more of a clean, bold brow look was my thing. These days, I keep it pretty natural -- even unruly by some people's standards. 🙂 This brush is small and thin enough to provide lots of control, and the angle is perfect for brow products and or gel eyeliner.

In order to provide a little more context as to what worked for me with these brushes, I wanted to show you how I used them in my everyday makeup routine.

MorpheMe October 2017

First up, the contour blush brush was ideal for applying bronzer. I usually go with a matte, cool shade in the hollows of my cheeks. This brush allowed for smooth application and blending in one. This was after I took care of my tinted moisturizer and concealer situation, by the way.

MorpheMe October 2017

The tapered powder brush was wonderful for not only setting my face makeup but also dusting a bit of highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones.

MorpheMe October 2017

I spoke a bit about the angle brow brush above, but here you see it in action! I used this one in addition to my usual brown pencil + gel combo in order to get a bit of sharper, bolder look than my usual. (It's still very natural.)

MorpheMe October 2017

To achieve more precise application with my powder highlighter, I turned to the tapered blending brush. It was small and fluffy enough to get a great result on the cupid's bow, brow bone, and inner corners.

Finally, the oval shadow brush did a good job at applying an allover lid color. I went with a slightly shimmery peach.

MorpheMe October 2017

Here's my finished face. I used the tapered angle brush to set my eyeliner as well. Really happy with how these MorpheMe brushes helped me easily achieve a fresh look that works for every day!

Verdict: I really loved the knockout theme of this month's MorpheMe Monthly Brush Club! The variety of brushes was great as well: 2 eye brushes, a brow brush, and two for the face. All of the styles included were soft, luxurious, and versatile though it was difficult to know exactly what materials they were comprised of being that each style is an exclusive that's not available on the MorpheMe site.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! Order by October 22nd to receive the September “Fight Like a Girl” box.

Value Breakdown: At $19.99 + free shipping for this box, each brush comes in at about $4.00 in value. I could see several of these brushes being sold for over $10, so I'd say that the value of this box is more than fair.
