New Beauty Test Tube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a digital subscription to New Beauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great.

This is the latest shipment from New Beauty Test Tube 2.0 - they promise 10 full or deluxe size items in every box.

This box was sent to us for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: New Beauty Test Tube

The Cost: $29.95 a box plus $8.95 shipping (ships every other month)

The Products: Deluxe and full-size beauty products. (This subscription also includes a subscription to New Beauty Magazine).

Ships to: US only

Check out all my New Beauty Test Tube reviews, and the Beauty Subscription Box List!

Each box comes with a booklet that details every item included.

Now, on to the items!

Skinn Cosmetics Patina Eyeshadow - Value $22.50

I believe all subscribers received this "Twilight Sky" colored palette.

These are highly pigmented, subtle-shimmer shadows with a few matte shades. They were easy to blend, too.

Here they are swatched:

Everything is a very wearable shade for me, too!

Symphony Beauty Makeup Cleansing Wipes in Cucumber & Aloe Vera - Value $1.70

These textured makeup wipes are paraben, sulfate, and alcohol free. The scent is light and clean, and wipes were gentle on my skin. Nothing game-changing here, but not a bad makeup wipe!

ScarAway Silicone Scar Sheets - 4 Reusable Sheets Value $9

This set includes 4 silicone scar sheets that are designed to help visibly improve the appearance of both old and new scars.

These patches were easy to apply and wear - it's pretty much just like one entirely sticky band-aid. I'm skeptical about the reusable part, though. I'm wearing it now and it's comfortable and staying in place, but washing it then reapplying daily would definitely reduce the stickiness. (Several reviews online stated that they had issues keeping this on after washing it.)

This won't work for hard-to-reach areas or areas with a lot of movement. I have a scar on my knee that's bothered me for years, and I think I'm going to try the ScarAway gel there instead.

Hey Honey Hands On Hand Cream - FULL SIZE! Value $14

(Good to know for swaps - this has an inner foil seal.)

This is the ideal hand cream formula for me - it's rich and moisturizing, but not greasy! The only change I'd make is to make it unscented. But the light fragrance is fresh and doesn't bother me.

Symphony Beauty Facial Cleansing Foam - FULL SIZE! Value $10

(Good to know for swaps - this has an inner foil seal.)

This is a creamy, gentle, light-foaming cleanser. It didn't dry my skin out at all, and I'm obsessed with the subtle, citrus scent. It's one of my favorite discoveries in the box!

MoroccanOil Treatment Light - .34 oz Value $6

This is a beauty item I’ve sampled many times before – and I'm always happy to see more of it in a subscription box! The formula adds shine, moisture, and doesn’t make your hair greasy. Plus the scent is lovely, and a little goes a long way!

June Jacobs Brightening Moisturizer - 15 ml Value $21.25

Yay! A fragrance-free skincare item! And June Jacobs is a great natural beauty line. This cream absorbs pretty quickly, so it could work as a daytime moisturizer, and it left my skin feeling soft and hydrated. (The sample size is pretty generous, too. 1/4 the size of the full-size version.)

Rodial Neck Mask Freeze and Smooth - Value $10

I love when a subscription box sends a neck-specific skincare item. (My current neck regimen is just applying any extra face serum/cream to my neck, so I can use some help!)

This mask goes on for 20-30 minutes, and for the most part, does a good job of staying put. (I kept my motions a little robot-like to prevent it from slipping off, though.)

It did a great job of hydrating my skin. It did take a while for the serum to fully absorb, though.

Pure Nilotica Melt Nourishing Balm-to-Oil – 15 g Value $24

I sampled this before thanks to Pearlesque Box, and I love it!

This balm-to-oil is rich and moisturizing like a shea butter, but it has a more whipped consistency, making it feel lighter. It’s designed to be used as a spot treatment when you next extra moisture, or as an overnight mask. I've been using it as a night mask and love the results. It was gentle on my skin, not too heavy, and I woke up to super soft and hydrated skin.

Verdict: This box has a value of about $118. I think the value is great, and I LOVE that they are including lots of new brands in this new version of New Beauty Test Tube. (Previously, there were a good amount of repeat brands.) I'm especially happy with the quality skincare items in this box, too!

Just got my first test tube! Hoping it is the June/July tube and I will get the Aug/Sept in the next few weeks!

I’ll open it up later when I get home.

No word yet on the Awards Box that I purchased after they ran out.

My box was completely different so I guess I’m starting with their most recent box. Super happy with my items! Looking forward to future boxes!

No word on my replacement Awards box yet either.. I can’t wait to see what’s going to be in it!

I haven’t heard anything at all except that they are checking into it. I may call them tomorrow. You would think they are getting a lot of calls/emails and would send word out to everyone. If I had not heard from you about them getting boxes ready I would be worried right now.

I am still hopeful of an awesome box too!

chris

so, does anybody know if the awards box is still available? Are the new boxes being made the same ones as before? I liked mine a lot!

Melissa W.

No.. the Awards box is sold out. It sold out on Aug. 1st. The new boxes are going to be different, but they are just for the 80 people that already paid for the Awards box after it sold out. No idea whats going to be in them, as the company isn’t even don’t making them yet.

I just now received my AUGUST New Beauty Test Tube. Without a doubt and hands down the very worst Tube I have received from them in the 7+ years I have loyally subscribed. I have never received a discount of any sort from them and if I had the energy, I’d try to send it back. Mostly samples and repeats and lower end brands. I just cancelled my sub a few moments ago. So disappointed and I’ve stuck it out through many not so good boxes.

I ordered this and the awards box. I got confirmation on both. Do they send a tracking number when it ships. I would have thought a tracking number would be sent by now. My order was placed 8/8 and 8/9.

Reply ButtonReply

Granny

Finally, got a tracking number on my box to arrive on Sept 1. Not sure if I will be getting the July Box for July/Aug. or if I am getting the new box for September. Either way, happy to finally have a tracking number. Still no word for me about the Awards Box that I purchased!

Melissa W.

I’m getting the Awards replacement box today! If you want me to let you know whats in it.. I will. Unless you would rather be surprised? Did you get your tracking yet?

Melissa W.

Hey Granny, I finally got my shipping confirmation for the Awards box replacement!!!! Just wanted to let you know, so you can watch your emails for yours! It’s about time. I hope it’s good and it was worth the wait!

Melissa

The monthly subscription Testtube.. usually charges the month before it goes out. I was charged too, but it won’t get shipped out until the beginning of next month. As for the Awards box.. I actually ordered one the day it went on sale and I received it already, but then I ordered a second one on Aug. 3rd, and was charged the same day, and still have not received a shipping notice. I emailed them 2 times and they keep telling me that will get it out to me and to look for the shipping conformation, but I still did not get it. I hope I get it soon or a refund. I’m getting worried..

Sandra

That is odd. I emailed Test Tube and they said that they would get my email to the right department. I would have thought orders would go to same department. I got an emailing confirming my order and it has been withdrawn from bank. Let me know when you receive. Mine was ordered on 08/09.
Thanks,
Sandra

I know this is going to sound like a really weird tip, but another idea to keep those scar patches in place is to cover the whole patch, with about an inch of extra space around it to adhere to the skin, with Glad Press n’ Seal Wrap. I know that sounds super weird, but it really does work to keep a bandage in place, and it really does stick to your skin, and you can hear it peeling off as you take it off! I know this works because my mom had shoulder surgery, and medical tape just wasn’t cutting it, so we tried the Glad wrap (not sure how we came up with that idea), and it kept the bandages in place like a champ!

I just received this as my first box. When is the next box due out?

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

When I was subscribed, they always came within the first few days of every odd month (i.e. July, September, November, etc.).

Julia

Thanks! So this was the July box?

Siren

I’m happily excited to see a palette in a New Beauty box! But it just seems like there should be, well MORE STUFF. I’m probably thinking way back to the days of old when they included the magazine in the box itself and a second bonus baggie but it just seemed like there was a lot more stuff in the box. It was just more fun when you opened it up. I’m not really excited enough to order.

I have zero desire for a neck mask. It is a completely neglected area, it’s true, and sadly it will continue to be.

I don’t have any scars that I care about putting a treatment on, but if I got a treatment in a box that I already sub to, I would experiment with it on my boyfriend just for fun 🙂

As for the Morroccanoil, I use it quite frequently and have good success with it on my thick waistlength hair – actually it’s butt length now I guess. I would say since I’m in my 40’s and have been able to grow out my hair quite well, I would vouch for that product and give it a thumbs up as part of my regimen.

Taren

I agree. I still sub, I’ve been with them since 2011. But I don’t like seeing sample sizes and I think their should be more! For the price, which is really $40, because it’s $10 for shipping, you really want to see a lot more. We still get the magazine, they should clarify that it comes separate and I do like getting it. That made that Beauty Awards box that just came out with the Care credit “coupon” all the more pathetic though. I already got the card, and get the magazine so it was doubly useless!

This and Allure Beauty Thrills are the least exciting yet most packed with useful items boxes I get. Everything except the scar sheets will get used. I just don’t have any scars that bother me in the least. All my scars are small and just part of me, and I never give them a second thought. If anyone out there has scars that hurt their self esteem, just let me know and I’ll gladly send you my scar sheets.

I see several of you guys used the Scar Away. Were any of the scars many years old?

Thanks!

Hi Liz!
Didn’t every one receive the Jersey Shore eyelash curler in this box? I haven’t tried mine but it’s another $30 to add to the value

Reply ButtonReply

anirishangel

I tried the eyelash curler & was not a fan. My Tweezerman eyelash curler works amazing – this didn’t even curl my lashes. Hope it does work for others though!

Reply ButtonReply

Bonnie

That sucks that you had that experience. I have the same Jersey Shore eyelash curler from Vegan Cuts, so I put this one away in case I lose or break mine. But I love mine – I think it’s the best I’ve ever had.

Melissa W.

Yea,, I think everyone did. I got one too!

I loved everything, as usual. I love NewBeauty Test Tube. It’s my favorite box by far..

Reply ButtonReply

vanessa

It wasn’t a bad box, I got a cucumber cleanser instead which I LOVE. The palette is really lovely, but my mom stole it! 😔

I sincerely hate that TT includes a hand lotion & usually full size every box – I can’t get rid of them fast enough.

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

Oh I love them. I can’t get enough. I’ll swap for all of your hand lotions, any brand 😊

Reply ButtonReply

xunseenx

just some advice about the scar away sheets… if you’re using them on a moveable or odd shaped place and they aren’t staying put, just use medical tape. i used mine on my nose and had to use medical tape. it didn’t look great, but neither did the sheet itself, so no real issue there. the one issue i did have is the sheet causing breakouts and rashes. i also have that same problem with mederma scar gel and the overnight cream. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Taren

I couldn’t get my Scar Away patches to last more than 3 days. This is certainly not one of my favorite Test Tube boxes but I am going to use everything so that’s good!

Reply ButtonReply

Granny

Wow, how long are they suppose to stay on?

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Whoa, New Beauty TestTube is sending a palette?! Color me surprised. 🙂

I probably would have bought this box if the Hey Honey item was for the face. As it is, I’ll just swap for the LXMI.

Reply ButtonReply

Ali

I’ve used those ScarAway scar treatments on surgical scars on my ankle and they definitely lasted a week or more for me, even washing them everyday.
I also bought Walgreens brand scar strips which ended up being much thinner and harder to use. Those ones only last me maybe 4-5 days.

Reply ButtonReply

Kristin

The ScarAway retails for $20 and has helped some recent surgical scars I have. I am on week two and it is making an improvement on the appearance.

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy

I had hypertrophic scars that received steroid injections (to flatten them) but they started raising again. I used Scaraway and the scars ended up flattening down again!

Svetlana7e

Is it too late to get this box?

Reply ButtonReply

Granny

I don’t think it is. I signed up today thinking I would get started in September, but I got an email saying it should ship in a couple of weeks.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

This doesn’t look bad, but after the disastrous experience with the Awards box, I will not give these people one more red cent of my money.
