BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!

BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan's April review of the super chewer box!

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: BarkBox

The Cost: $29 a month, or $19 a month with a 12-month subscription.

The Products: Toys, treats, and grooming products perfect for your dog based on their size.

Ships to: US and Canada

Every BarkBox has a theme - BarkBox continues their punny names this month - A Lick In Wonderland!

It also includes a card. This card will usually show some variants of items that you might receive - plus a social media challenge - if you want details on all of your items, you'll have to check the app or website.

For your consideration: Buckles!

SqueakleDee and SqueakleDum - Value $10

The first of our two toys is a nod to Tweedledee and Tweedledum - it's a two-sided plush toy!

Here's the reverse side of the toy.

It's got a little rubber, spiky, ball on the bottom to allow it to pop around during play time!

Squeak Me Sweet Treat - Value $8

The second toy is just super cute, and perfect for our dog!

This is a simple plush toy that Buckles has been playing with ever since he got it. It's all plush, with one squeaker inside.

My Doggy Beef and Potato Treats - Value $7

Like most months, our box included two large sized bags of treats. The first is from My Doggy.

These little bite-size treats are made in the USA and wheat free.

Here's more from BarkShop:

Sometimes your dog has had a tiring week doing tough sniffing and such. Let 'em put up their paws and give 'em a treat— a comforting beef and potato treat! Made in the USA without any wheat by our friends at My Doggy, they are as nutritious as they are delicious. Great for a training reward or snack.

Buckles 100% approves of these trainer treats - he's been asking for them since yesterday because he just knows I have them in the room somewhere!

Lola's Lamb Jerky - Value $6

The last bag of treats comes from Integrity Treats.

These are a soft treat that is easily broken for portion control. Again, these are made in the USA without corn or soy.

Here's more from the BarkShop:

Forget the chops, lamb jerky is where it's at. At least that's what your dog is going to think after they have a taste of these chewy lamb morsels. Made in the USA without corn or soy, you can feel good about giving your dog all of that lamb deliciousness without any of the weird preservatives or wacky fillers. They are great for a treat, snack, or reward, so don't be a jerk; get your pup some lamb jerky.

These are really nice and soft - which was perfect for us - naturally, it's another winner this month.

Please Note: The app shows that we should have also received a Rabbit Chew, valued at $3, which wasn't in our box.

Verdict: Since we end up gifting the chews that are almost always the 5th and final item in the box, it missing was not a big blow for us - but check on your shipment! BarkBox was spot on with the type of toy and treats for Buckles this month - what more could we ask for!

Buckles is a cutie, but he’s about seven pounds bigger than my Shih Tzu. Some of the stuffed toys look even a little big for Buckles, so I wonder how they’ll go over with a smaller dog. What are your thoughts?

Also, my dog has very few teeth, although she’s pretty good about eating kibble. What would you say about the size and softness of the treats?

Thanks!

They do such a great job curating this box and tying it to a theme each month. I appreciate the quality over some of the others.

I can tell that Buckles likes this box over the other ones he receives every month too.

Buckles goes crazy for this box! I keep telling Eric we should have Buckles do a live unboxing video! 🙂
