Manna Kadar Fantasy 3-in1 Blush, Highlighter, Eyeshadow - Value $19
I think that this subscription box likes Manna Kadar. I received a blush last month and, much like that, this product is intense. It claims to be an all-in-one product and is described as a “nude, blush pink”. I think it is a really pretty color and perfect for inner eye and brow highlighting. I can’t say I love it as a face highlighter because it is too pigmented for lighter skin. It probably would work great on more of an olive skin tone (which I’m finding to be true about the Manna Kadar items that I have tried) as a highlight. I can’t see this as a blush unless you like a very shimmery cheek, but if you do, you can certainly get it. The container has a twist off top which is a lot easier to get into than the blush container.
Hikari Cosmetics Eyeshadow Quads in Emma - Value $15
These shadows are soft and easily blendable with minimal fall-out and decent lasting power. They also have good pigment and can be layered for more depth. The colors create a warm, neutral look. I think the compact they come in is bulky and a bit cheap feeling – if I were to drop it, I feel like it and the pressed powders would break.
Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara - Value $24
I like this mascara and its ability to get fuller, longer lashes without having to work at it. The brush is huge and the tip brings a lot of product out with it so you have to wipe it off or it will be all over the place. I like lots of separation and volume and I was able to use only one coat to get that look. Actually, when I tried a second coat, things got ugly. I felt like I had spider lashes and ended up having to brush them out and separate them. I guess less is more here. It does last all day with no smudging or flaking.
Kokie Cosmetics Waterproof Velvet Smooth Lip Liner Pencil in Berry Plum - Value $6
I haven’t really delved into the world of lip liners. I associate them with a dated look and haven’t wanted the “lined” look. This liner surprised me though. It goes on velvety and opaque with no tugging or clumping. I tried this as a true liner and it was ok. Then I tried it by itself and blended it all over my lips and loved it. There was still color after lunch, through coffee and multiple lip balm applications.
Starlooks Ultra Longwear Matte Lip Paint in Royalist - Value $19
This liquid lip color says it will leave you with “irresistibly kissable” lips, but whatever you kiss while wearing this product will be wearing it too. I don’t think it is long wear because it never truly dries down and smudges around easily. But, it is rich in color and applies smoothly with the doe-foot applicator. It is heavily scented with, I’d say, Fruity Pebbles (I prefer unscented lip products). I am going to try this again and see if blotting it off helps to make it more of a stain. Bonus, this shade makes your teeth look whiter!
All of the items swatched from top to bottom: highlighter, eyeshadow quad, lip liner, lip paint.
The makeup look using all of these products. This look got dark very quickly. I wanted to show you everything, but in reality, I tend to wear a dramatic eye OR lip, not both.
A detail of the eye look.
Verdict: Sweet Sparkle’s “Berry Crush” was an improvement over last month in value, but the theme doesn’t seem like it fits summer. I love berry shades, so I can’t complain, but the look altogether is so very “fall”. I will use most of the items and a couple may be better suited to some of my tanned friends, but sharing is caring, so that’s fine. I do like that all of the items this month are, as always, full-sized. The value of this box totals about $83 plus free shipping.
What do you think of the this month’s Sweet Sparkle box? Any tips for these items?
