Candy Club now offers subscribers the ability to customize their boxes! I think this is a fantastic new option, and I jumped at the chance to pick my candies this month!
I signed up for the “Custom Box” on the Candy Club website, which allowed me to select my three main candies for the month. (FYI- I was able to choose three out of the four candies I received in my box. The three candies I selected were sent in Candy Club’s signature plastic and tin containers. The loose, individually-wrapped candies were still a surprise.)
I was able to choose from 33 different kinds of candy.
For subscribers who prefer a surprise every month, Candy Club also offers a “Curated Box.” The “Curated Box” contains candies that are selected for you based on your personal taste. You can choose whether to receive sweet candy, sour candy, or a mix of both.
I received an envelope that contained an info card for each of the candies in my shipment.
The cards provide information about the month’s candies along with nutritional details.
Dorval Sour Power Lemonade Straws
My first pick this month is these sour lemonade straws. I don’t think I’ve ever had sour lemonade straws before, and I really like them. The pink lemonade flavor is spot on and it reminds me of drinking this as a kid. I love sour candy, and it seems especially appropriate for lemonade-flavored candy to be tart. The sour dust on these straws helps give them an authentic lemony taste.
Gimbal's Red Licorice Scottie Dogs
How cute are these?
I like red licorice, and I just couldn’t resist these adorable Scottie dogs! The flavor is pretty much like I expected, kind of like Twizzlers.
Vidal Strawberry & Cream Drops
These drops are like little marshmallow clouds from heaven. They’re soft and spongy, and they almost just melt in your mouth. The dusty coating is sweet, not sour, and the strawberry flavor is really tasty. There’s something dainty and charming about these candies; they make me think of English tea time and little girls playing dress up.
Hummm… I received these toffees last month, so I’m a little surprised to see them in my box again this month. The loose candy isn’t customizable, so I don’t really have any say over what I get. I like these toffees, so I don’t mind too much getting them two months in a row, but I’d prefer a bit more variety.
Verdict: I love being able to customize my Candy Club box, and I’m really happy with the candies I picked out this month. The value of this box is definitely subjective. It would be easy to buy bulk candy online for less, but the price point of this box is on par with what I might expect to pay at high-end candy stores (like Sugarfina and Dylan's Candy Bar). Still, even though this subscription doesn’t offer superb value for money, I think it’s a lot of fun.
