Fair Trade Friday is a membership club that enables women to empower other women. Artisans are paid directly, and 100% of the proceeds from each box goes toward helping women around the world. They have three different subscriptions: The Original Box, the Bracelet of the Month Club, and the Earring of the Month Club. This review is of the Earring of the Month Club.

These little cards were included in my box. The one on the right lets me know that my earrings were handmade and fairly traded from a woman in India. The other two have some information about Fair Trade Friday and about Mercy House Kenya, Fair Trade Friday's parent organization.

This card was also included, and it's all about Kurandza, a women's charity in Mozambique. It also has a 20% coupon code!

Check out these earrings! So pretty! I don't have anything like them at all. They are like fabric covered buttons! How clever!

This is the reverse of the card that was attached to the earrings. It's so nice to put faces to all these developing initiatives for women that are popping up around the globe. Those are some killer earrings she's wearing, too!

Verdict: I really enjoyed this package from Fair Trade Friday Earring of the Month Club. I know these earrings were fairly traded, but honestly, $12 for a pair of earrings I like is a steal. Plus they're exotic and will make a great conversation piece. I also really like knowing that my purchase is actually helping someone support herself and her family who might otherwise not be able to.

Now this is the kind of subscription I like to see. I like the thought of 100% of sales going to the artisans and not someone using a “cause” to exploit poor and disenfranchised people. Thanks for featuring them!

Also, fabric button earrings are not exotic. They gained mainstream popularity during the “crafty” 80s fad but are still popular today.
