This month's theme was Futuristic!

Loot Pets july-152

Each month comes with an information sheet in the form of these collectible cards. You'll also get a themed collar charm.

Loot Pets july-153

This is the best collar charm yet. It's from one of my favorite episodes of Rick and Morty!

I seriously can't recommend this show enough. It is a mature animated show, though!

Spunky Pup Fetch & Glow Ball - Value $6-7

This month's toy is glow in the dark ball. It's plastic, but a softer plastic - but it's much too big for my small dog, I wish they had sent a smaller size for smaller dogs.

Barkstronaut Bites - Value $10?

This month's treats are Barkstronaut Bites. Let me tell you, Buckles is BEGGING for more of these by my side as I write this review - he loves them. These are chicken sausage treats - and they look like little sliced sausage, too.

Dog and Human Shirt - Value $25-30 Total?

This is the first month where the shirts do not match. I think that the puppy shirts are made from a different manufacturer because the shirt was MUCH smaller than usual. Buckles earned his treats getting in and out of this shirt.

Loot Pets July 2016 - Group Shot

Here it is looking like a little muscle shirt on Buckles.

Verdict: I enjoy unboxing Loot Pets and enjoying it with Buckles, but it feels less and less geeky. The toys have become normal toys that you'd expect from any pet subscription box - which is a bummer! The geeky part was their differentiator, and I'd like to see them get back to that. The shirt size was a disappointment as well, they'll need to be more aware when switching manufacturers - this was a drastic difference. The value is certainly there (if you like dog shirts) - but I'm craving more geekiness.

I don’t know where Loot Crate got the sizing info for their dog shirts, but they’re really off. They recommend a medium for a Pug and Beagle; I have a 19 lb Pug and a medium wouldn’t fit her at all, much less a larger Beagle. Anyone ordering should disregard the breed suggestions and measure their dogs to make sure they’re getting the right size.

I switched to Loot crate pets from a different dog subscription box, because I liked the geeky theme aspect, plus early boxes had actual dog accessories like leashes, bowls and collars, along with the t-shirt, toys and treats. This crate and the last have been pretty disappointing on the geek front. I like the Jetsons fine, but I don’t really think of it as geeky. I also found the shirt to be much smaller this time. I like that the treats are made in the USA, but would feel better if I knew that the ingredients in them were sourced in the USA as well, and the company that manufactures them. I’m not sure why anyone would want to hold on to the collectable cards, mine go right into the recycling. The charms are fantastic however!

I love the Jetsons shirt!!! Elroy and Astro are so adorable and totally befitting of a pup shirt!!!

This was my first month and the amount of “geeky” was just right for me! I loved the shirts, although the dog shirt was a little small. Luckily I have a smaller dog (that the shirt wasn’t intended for) that it fit perfectly! My dog loved the ball and the treats!

I totally agree with your review. This shirt wouldn’t even fit on my chunky Pom. The shirts of the same size in the past always fit. The ball was too big for her mouth. Overall I’m just more and more disappointed with Loot Pets. The charm is the best part of the box this month, and thankfully she liked the treats. Honestly I’d cancel, but I paid for a six month subscription.

They accidentally sent me two boxes, so I have a whole complete box I was just going to donate to the local humane society. I joined the wait list to be able to swap, but am not currently on it. I’m happy to mail you the collar charm though!

It’s past the deadline to receive this box, unfortunately. Best of luck with swapping!
