Uppercase YA Book Subscription Box Review – August 2015 Rebel

Rebel Mechanics by Shanna Swendson - Retail Value $17.99 (On Amazon for $11.48)

Book Summary from Amazon:

It's 1888, and seventeen-year-old Verity Newton lands a job in New York as a governess to a wealthy leading family--but she quickly learns that the family has big secrets. Magisters have always ruled the colonies, but now an underground society of mechanics and engineers are developing non-magical sources of power via steam engines that they hope will help them gain freedom from British rule. The family Verity works for is magister--but it seems like the children's young guardian uncle is sympathetic to the rebel cause. As Verity falls for a charming rebel inventor and agrees to become a spy, she also becomes more and more enmeshed in the magister family's life. She soon realizes she's uniquely positioned to advance the cause--but to do so, she'll have to reveal her own dangerous secret.

Uppercase YA Book Subscription Box Review – August 2015 Winter

Compass Rose Design Bookmark - Value $10?

I love how this bookmark matches the cover!

Winter pin - bonus item

I normally don't get excited for pins in any box - but I can't wait for Winter to come out! (If you haven't read this series yet, I recommend reading Cinder asap!)

Uppercase YA Book Subscription Box Review – August 2015 Signed

Litographs Temporary Tattoo - Value $2.50

From browsing Instagram, it looks like there is some variation in which type of tattoo you may receive.

Signed Bookplate Sticker

Almost every month Uppercase box includes a signed bookplate to go with the book - I love this extra!

Uppercase YA Book Subscription Box Review – August 2015 Necklace

Rose Gold Ampersand Necklace - Value $15?

Not sure yet if this has anything to do with the book, but it looks like a good bookish goodie to me!

Verdict: I'm a big fan of this subscription - I love getting a new hand-picked hardcover YA book each month, and so far I've enjoyed every book Lisa has picked. Plus I think the bookish goodies are always thoughtfully chosen. If you value those things, I would recommend this subscription.

I loved my box but I didn’t get the bonus Winter pin! I’m SO disappointed! I am such a Cinder series fan….

This was my daugter’s first month, and she was very happy with it. We can’t wait to find out if the necklace has anything to do with the book, but it is awesome regardless.

I don’t even care if the necklace has anything to do with the book – it’s adorable (and perfect for those of us who are grammar geeks)!

I love it! I’m wearing the necklace now. My one complaint is of the four months I’ve subscribed, three months have been books that start series. I have been saving series books until they’re all out because I read so much I can’t remember the details, so I don’t know if I’ll read any of them soon. I’d love to see some more stand-alone novels!

Hi Serena – Thanks for the feedback! Finding Audrey from last month was actually a standalone novel! Thanks.
