QVC New Beauty Test Tube Subscription Review – Oct 2014

This post may contain referral/affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

QVC New Beauty Test Tube is a quarterly subscription box from QVC. (You can also buy any QVC New Beauty Test Tube as a one-time purchase).

FYI – this subscription is different from the New Beauty Test Tube subscription that ships every other month. (You can check out my New Beauty Test Tube reviews to see more!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Box: QVC New Beauty Test Tube (this box isn’t available for purchase yet)

The Cost: $29.96 plus $6.72 shipping (sign up for auto delivery to get a subscription, or you can purchase a box individually).

The Products: Full size and deluxe size beauty products, plus New Beauty Test Tube magazine.

Check out all of my New Beauty Test Tube reviews!

Each Test Tube comes with a booklet detailing each item included and the latest copy of New Beauty magazine.

The info booklet is pretty detailed and helpful too.

Lea Journo Pro Series Technician Shampoo Creme (2 oz) Value $4

Bliss Lemon + Sage Body Butter (1 oz) Value $5

I’ve received a lot of bliss products thanks to New Beauty Test Tubes, but I love the citrusy scent of this moisture cream – so no complaints! (And this shampoo is sulfate-free, paraben-free and smells great too!).

IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream with SPF50 in Medium+ (4 ml) Value $5

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (10 ml) Value $4

I wish this IT Cosmetics CC Cream was a larger size – I love it. It has more coverage than most BB/CC creams, and the medium shade surprisingly works really well with my skin tone.

I’ve received a few of these hand creams from subscription boxes and they are always good to have in your purse – especially now that winter is coming!

Mally High Shine Liquid Lipstick (mini) Value $15

Laura Geller Waterproof Eye Spackle – Value $23

These two products seem to be in every New Beauty Test Tube. (I really wish they had more variety!) I guess to mix things up this month we get a mini Mally lipgloss instead of the full size!

Dr. Denese HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum (10 ml) Value $20

Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel (7 g) Value $7

These are the two items I’m most excited to try from the box. They both get excellent reviews, are free of ingredients I try to avoid, and perfect for winter skincare!

Verdict: I feel like I keep repeating myself with these New Beauty Test Tube boxes, but I really wish they would mix it up and include different brands/products. (I like Mally liquid lipstick, but I have dozens now!) I think this is probably a subscription that is great for a few boxes, but if you’ve been subscribing for years like me, the specialness is fading. The value is pretty good though – over $80. (I paid about $37).

Do you subscribe to the QVC New Beauty Test Tube? What do you think of it?

  1. Do you happen to know if the QVC Limited Edition version of the test tube has been discontinued or if it just has not come out? I thought January 2015 is when the new one should be showing up. I cannot find any information on it. Thanks! Maggie

  2. Liz, can you swatch eyeshadow pencils and lip glosses that you get?

  3. When will this box be available for purchase?

    • I’m not sure – I just double checked their site and no signs of it yet. 🙁

    • I just ordered mine from QVC tonight– it’s very confusing because it doesn’t state the month, and from what I’ve read, it’s not available as a subscription. I ended up ordering one that I previously had before I saw that the current one was available– had to cancel that order and then place a new order. And I figured that the Bi-Monthly would be available now but it wasn’t…

  4. I agree 100%! I had to cancel a few boxes ago when I realized they were shipping the exact same things over and over. I went back and looked one month and there was one foil packet sample I had not already received in past months. Oh no! Cancelled! What a shame because they had potential.

  5. Liz, I have a full size of this IT cream in shade medium. I haven’t opened it because I normally take ‘light or fair’ or whatever is pale in all things. But you said it’s lighter than expected. If it works for you, what shade of foundation or bb cream do you normally buy? I don’t want to open it without some guidance because then I can’t gift or trade it.

    • I just tried out a few BB/CC creams I had on hand to find a similar shade. 🙂 It’s pretty close to Supergoop CC cream in light to medium if that helps. (I would say the Supergoop has slightly more pink undertones).

      • Thanks. I will have to see if I have that one here to test.

  6. All of these items besides the shampoo I have been wanting to try badly! The bliss hand cream; loccitane, it cosmetic, the hydroshield (glowing reviews) Mally I have tried and love and definitely Laura Gellar. I have tried her once and loved. Wondering if this will still be available in 2-3 weeks. I almost ordered a set off QVC similar to this but had the popular nail strengthener in it and smaller sizes too but this os still a better deal. Ohhhh how I want this set. I really wanna try all of these great items. I have the Bliss face wash and love! I am sure the hand cream will be nice too. =) I wish I knew what would be in this box ahead of time or I would have ordered a few weeks ago.

  7. Not going to order because of money issues, but maybe a quarterly beauty box like this wouldn’t be too bad for me when all my finances get straightened out. I could still get some new stuff to try on occasion but actually have a chance to use up some samples before new ones arrive. (Although the CC cream from this one would probably be too dark for me.)

In the meantime, I think I’m going to spend next week working through my stash of foil packets. Might as well!

  8. I might order this. I noticed the hand cream packaging is similar to the hand creme packaging that was in the Escape Monthly French box. Is it the French way of packaging hand cream or are the 2 companies related?

    • From what I’ve read in comments on other reviews a lot of companies use the same packaging that someone else makes and they just put their own lable on
