I’m Done With Takeout – Here’s What I’m Eating Instead

Takeout is so tempting, right? You’ve come home from a hard day at work or school, you’ve fed the kids and put them to bed, or you’re just feeling kinda frazzled. What could be better than some quick and tasty food delivered to your door? We’ve all been there: a quick fix that seems great at the time, but makes us feel less than great afterward. Delivery that doesn’t deliver on health or heartiness. Fast that often isn’t even that fast.

We can do better, though. In the time it takes to get delivery, and for a lower cost, we can cook great food — quickly and easily. I first experienced HelloFresh a few years ago, and I’ve been a fan ever since. From the start, I appreciated the convenience and flavor profiles of their meal kits.

Tried & True Favorites

There are HelloFresh recipes that I've fallen in love with and are now part of my regular repertoire. I’ve made their Plant-Based Pasta Ragù Bake recipe my own — quick and delicious, it’s a great go-to for my family. I’m also borderline obsessed with the HelloFresh Mediterranean Salad recipe that I encountered a couple of years ago, which I now try to pass off to dinner party guests as my own!

That’s the thing with HelloFresh — it helps to make you a better cook. But nothing beats getting a box of fresh proteins and greens, other quality ingredients, and a fun and easy-to-follow recipe that effortlessly guides me as I make dinner. The food is great … and, to be honest, serving up HelloFresh to my family makes me look good!

My Meal Bucket List

Grilled Chicken & Steak Fajitas

While I have my tried and true favorites that I order again and again, I also love trying new recipes. Browsing the upcoming menus is something I look forward to, and I get really excited to cook up new dishes. One meal that’s caught my eye — and I’m very excited to cook — is the Grilled Chicken & Steak Fajitas. Chicken and steak with charred veggies served with cilantro pineapple pico and a smoky red pepper crema. Ready in 40 minutes? Yes, please!

Beef Tenderloin & Balsamic Steak Sauce

Another one that’s on my radar is Beef Tenderloin and Balsamic Steak Sauce, which is accompanied by a sour cream & chive mashed potatoes, and roasted broccoli. This one is going to be a winner, I know. Melt-in-your-mouth beef tenderloin drizzled with a rich balsamic pan sauce served with crispy broccoli and creamy potatoes. I mean, whose mouth isn’t watering?! This one also takes 40 minutes to make. That’s about the same time as it takes to order and wait for home delivery, but I know the HelloFresh option is more affordable, healthier, and tastier — plus I get the satisfaction of having made it with my own hands!

Moo Shu Pork Bowls

Not every HelloFresh meal needs to be served on a plate. What if you just want that fun fast food experience (without the dubious “quality” of regular fast food!)? Well, how about a Moo Shu Pork Bowls? Kick it up a notch with a sweet and spicy sauce made with a blend of sweet Thai chili sauce, soy glaze, hoisin, and lime juice. Oh, yeah. Enjoy over buttery rice and top with nutty sesame seeds. Oh, yeah.

The Takeaway

In short, when compared to most takeout or home delivery options, HelloFresh offers food that wins on cost, nutrition, value, and taste. And the availability of options to suit different tastes, combined with flexible delivery frequencies, makes HelloFresh a super option for my household.

Honestly, when I tell my friends about HelloFresh, I struggle to find anything negative to say. It’s been a part of my family’s life for quite a while now (how the years fly by!), and I still can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
