Stitch Fix Women’s Fashion Review August 2026

It’s back to school already.  It’s still hot and humid here, but the local pool closes in a week as schools are back in session the second week of August! Since it’s still summer when I start teaching, I’ll be looking for clothes that keep me cool but I can still transition into fall.

Stitch Fix is an online personal styling service and one of the most popular women's fashion subscriptions. You tell them all about your style and size preferences through their very specific style quiz, and then they send you a package of carefully selected stylish goodies to try on at home. The styling fee is $20 a month for your stylist, but that fee goes towards any items you choose to keep.

Preview

My preview showed up in exactly 24 hours, and there was a lot to go through.

The first item was a 41 Hawthorn Rita knit poplin tiered skirt, which looked almost identical to a black tiered maxi skirt I already have from a previous Fix. I was able to opt out right in the preview and left a note that I already own something very similar.

Next up was a Market & Spruce AlwaysSoft lightweight rib cropped cardigan. I have a similar one from a past Fix already, and honestly, I wasn't in the market for something so wintery in the middle of July, so that got declined too.

Then came a pair of Studio Blue Davina high rise utility wide leg — but I'd also been sent a similar navy pair in my last Fix that I kept, so I passed on another pair in navy. Interestingly, the very next item in the preview was the same brand and a similar style, just in a different color (dark green), and that one I added to my Fix right away.

This is where I noticed a pattern: the styling itself is right on, but there were a lot of items that felt too close to things I've already kept from previous Fixes. They clearly get my style, but I don't need to be shown near-identical versions of stuff I already own and love. I'd much rather they experiment with variations of the items I've returned than repeat the ones I've kept.

A few more from the preview:

• Tribal Jeans Audrey Wide crop lyocell denim pant with a drawstring elastic waist — not quite my style. I prefer a more structured waist, so I declined these.
• 41 Hawthorn Bailey Blouse in black — much like the jeans situation, I usually can't have too many black shirts, but I wasn't fond of the styling on this one, so I passed.
• Flag & Anthem Pucker stripe dolman shirt in pink — this one I kept. I've been outside a lot more than usual this summer, so I've really been leaning into lightweight, flowy shirts. They're cooler and more stylish than reaching for a t-shirt every time. I haven't worn much pink historically, but this pale shade actually works well on me.
• Les Serein Loria Pleat neck blouse — cute, but I don't wear much sleeveless. Not practical for me, so I turned it down.
• Favorite Daughter classic logo baseball cap and Coach Signature C Jacquard Bucket Hat — both were cute, but I'd specifically requested no accessories, so I declined and added that feedback again for good measure.

I also used the option to customize the number of items in my box, anywhere from 5 to 8. I went with the maximum to give myself the most options. In the end, I kept two items out of the preview and let my stylist add six more to round out the box.

Placing my order was pretty straightforward. A calendar pops up to pick a delivery date — as soon as 8 days out — with the option to set up a recurring Fix, which I declined.

Delivery

My box was scheduled for July 29 but actually showed up on July 22 — a full week early. I happened to be traveling at the time, but I was able to go right into the chat feature in the app and easily find the option to extend my return date. I was given several options within the next four weeks, which made things a lot less stressful.

What’s Inside

Everything arrived packaged well, with a note from my stylist explaining all my items (it was a printed copy but the digital note is much easier to read).

Studio Blue Dawn wide leg utility pant – Retail Value $78

Size: 8 | Color: Dark Green

Perfect. Great pockets, right size and length, just enough stretch, and a good neutral color. I like a muted green, but sometimes it can be tricky to get the right shade - it can be too yellow or too blue or too brown - but this one seems to have found the sweet spot. Keep.

Fortune + Ivy Pattie button down blouse – Retail Value $45

Size: M | Color: White

100% polyester, but with great details and structure that holds its shape. It has a pleat at the back below the neck and short cuffed sleeves. This one checked every box for me and will make a great work shirt. Keep.

Market & Spruce Mr Wide Leg belted vintage stretch jeans – Retail Value $78

Size: 8 | Color: Navy

These jeans are wide and cropped with a cute skinny tie belt detail. They fit well with just a tiny bit of stretch. Easy to wear and easy to love - I used them for a dinner out with friends the very same day they arrived. Keep.

41 Hawthorn Kassie eyelet detail blouse – Retail Value $49

Size: M | Color: Red

I didn't keep this top; the color just isn't my shade. It did come with a link to a matching skirt that would make a cute set. Even though I wasn't keeping the top, I appreciated that I could easily find the coordinating bottom if I wanted to turn this shirt into an outfit. Return.

Market & Spruce Maude boxy crop crew neck t-shirt – Retail Value $29

Size: M | Color: Dark Purple

Even though the color is labeled as Dark Purple, it's actually pink with a dark purple stripe. The colors worked well on me and the cut was good. I've been liking a boxier tee lately, and it's nice to see my stylist catering to that shift in taste. Not a look I would have picked out myself before, but I'm really into it now. Keep.

Market & Spruce Cora fitted midi skirt – Retail Value $46.97

Size: M | Color: Navy

I really liked this skirt. Great fit, flat front with gathering in the back, and a tone-on-tone blue vertical stripe that I love. The only issue was a substantial tear in the front hem when I tried it on. The FAQ in the app was super helpful here — I was able to easily figure out how to exchange it right at checkout. Keep (exchanged).

Flag & Anthem Pucker stripe dolman shirt – Retail Value $59.50

Size: M | Color: Light Pink

I liked this top during the preview, and it was exactly what I expected once it arrived. It was the easiest decision of the entire Fix. Keep.

Les Serein Kirie banded top – Retail Value $35

Size: M | Color: Burgundy

This top had nice style with cap sleeves, but the color wasn't quite right — a bit too orange for me. Otherwise, it was a great choice by my stylist - lightweight and good for summer. This is a situation where I hope that my feedback on this top, as well as the other red one, will make to so that my next Fix will have reds that suit my tone more. Return.

Purchase and Returns

I saved 25% by keeping six items. In the end, I kept five, exchanged one, and returned two. With the discount, my final amount came down from $336.47 to $252.35.

The exchange process for the damaged midi skirt was incredibly easy. I filled out a few questions then put it in the returns bag with the rest of the items that I was sending back. The returns went into the bag with the provided label and straight into the outgoing mail.

Takeaways

Overall, an easy process this month, especially when it came to handling the exchange. My stylist clearly understands my style at this point, but I'd love to see a bit more variety going forward, particularly by riffing on items I've sent back rather than echoing the ones I've kept.
