IPSY Original is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-sized or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.
This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so this review is for just one of the bag variations you might receive!
My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).
First Impressions
One of my favorite things about the IPSY Original subscription is the excitement of discovering each month’s new bag design. I’ve been a subscriber for years, and the fun, creative styles—along with the amazing products—keep me coming back for more.
To celebrate the arrival of February and the season of love, we received a beautiful faux gator-skin pastel pink pouch. Featuring a lovely gold zipper pull and a silky pink interior, this pouch perfectly fits all of my treasures from the month while giving a subtle nod to the upcoming arrival of spring.
Also included is a product card featuring the “For the Love of You” theme, along with a helpful guide to lip glosses, oils, stains, and tints. It also includes a QR code for more details about this month’s bag contents and a sneak peek at next month’s highlights!
Now, on to the items!
BEAUTY CREATIONS COSMETICS Plump & Pout Gloss - FULL SIZE! - Retail Value $7
I have thin lips, so I always get excited when I see plumping products. This gloss from Beauty Creations Cosmetics comes in a syringe-style tube—without any needle or sharp components. Playing into the “plumping” theme, the gloss has a subtle orange tint and applies smoothly.
At first, it felt like a regular gloss on my lips, but it soon began to tingle. I’ll be honest—this one tingles more than other plumping brands I’ve tried. I did notice a slight boost in volume, though it did cause a mild burning sensation. Overall, I liked the color and found the formula to be decent. It wasn’t so intense that I wouldn’t wear it again, but those with very sensitive skin may experience some irritation.
DEW OF THE GODS Filla Nitro Under Eye Cream - Deluxe Sample - Estimated Value $13.33
The next item I received was one I was truly thrilled about. At 37, my skin is definitely in need of extra hydration and a little targeted support. I’ve tried other products from Dew of the Gods and have been really impressed with the results, so I was excited to see what this eye cream could offer.
This cruelty-free and vegan formula features retinol, and a really cool ultra-peptide blend of caffeine, Pentapeptide-4, and Hexapeptide-8. These ingredients are designed to target dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. The directions recommend applying a small amount to the under-eye area morning and night. I’ve been following that routine and have found that it layers beautifully under my daily makeup while delivering noticeable results.
I’ve been getting over an illness, so under-eye bags have definitely been an issue lately, but this formula seems to have helped. While it is a bit on the pricey side, it feels luxurious to apply and delivers solid results. Since only a small amount is needed each time, the tube has lasted quite a while. I may just splurge on the full-size version because I really love the lightweight, non-greasy formula.
DR. JART+ Cicapair Intensive Soothing Repair Cream - FULL SIZE - Estimated Value $22.00
Dr. Jart+ is a brand I wasn’t very familiar with, but since my skin has been craving extra hydration, the Cicapair Intensive Soothing Repair Cream felt like exactly what my February routine needed. I chose it as my pick for the month.
Though the tube is small, this size retails for $22 online—which is a bit surprising. The formula features a blend of skin-loving ingredients, with Centella Asiatica as the star. Known for its soothing properties, it’s designed to calm sensitive skin, reduce redness, and help repair the skin barrier.
I don’t struggle much with redness, but I really appreciated the lightweight hydration it provided without leaving a greasy finish. It absorbed smoothly and created a soft, supple base for my foundation. While it’s definitely on the pricey side, I do feel like it made a noticeable difference, and I’m glad I took the chance on trying a new-to-me brand.
VERSED Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm - Travel Size - Estimated Value $7.99
The next item I received was a generous size—and it’s the same size sold on the brand’s website, so it’s not just a sample. Formulated with eucalyptus oil and vitamin E, this balm is designed to be massaged onto the entire face before rinsing off. It melts into the skin to dissolve makeup and daily grime with ease.
I absolutely love the scent of this balm and genuinely enjoyed using it. It feels incredibly soothing on my skin—hydrating, gentle, and luxurious. I had never tried a cleansing balm like this before, but consider me officially converted. I love it!
OFRA COSMETICS Brown Eyeliner Pencil - FULL SIZE - Retail Value $13.00
The last item I received wasn’t my favorite, but it turned out to be a nice addition to my makeup bag. I don’t usually get excited about eyeliners since I typically prefer liquid formulas—and I already have quite a few.
That said, I don’t own many brown liners, and this one smudged beautifully for a soft, smoky eye look. It applied smoothly with a creamy texture, and while it’s not the longest-lasting pencil I’ve ever used, it performed well and helped create a pretty look that I really enjoyed.
Verdict
I love the IPSY Original and always look forward to trying new beauty products. While I have my go-to brands, I’m always excited for the chance to discover something new. This month, I received five fun items that truly elevated both my skincare routine and makeup game. I loved each and every product and was thoroughly impressed.
For just $14, I received five items that I used throughout the month and genuinely enjoyed—especially the gloss, under eye cream, repair cream, and cleansing balm. I even switched brands because of this month’s bag! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the March curation. What do you think it will include?
