Stitch Fix Women’s Fashion Review January 2026

What a relief that the holidays are over. It’s been a whirlwind of school events and visiting friends and family. I knew that when it was over I’d be getting back to regular life and schedule. But with kids' activities and job responsibilities, that schedule doesn’t really include much time to go shopping for myself. While I don’t have a monthly subscription to Stitch Fix, this was my third order in the last 6 months.

Stitch Fix is an online personal styling service and one of the most popular women's fashion subscriptions. You tell them all about your style and size preferences through their very specific style quiz, and then they send you a package of carefully selected stylish goodies to try on at home. The styling fee is $20 a month for your stylist, but that fee goes towards any items you choose to keep as a discount.

My Subscription Addiction received a credit for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Style Preferences

Ordering was easy in the app, a calendar pops up to pick a delivery date, as early as a week later. In this case, I was out of town for the new year, so ordered the box for delivery a few days after my return.

I was given an option for Themed Fixes, which was a new feature for me. Themes included Get Cozy, Winter Workout, Night Out, Now Trending, Apres-ski, and On the Move. Nothing piqued my interest, since I had some specific holes in my wardrobe to fill with this Fix. However, it’s a nice option if you are looking to add seasonal items.

Before ordering, I could customize the size of my Fix for 5-8 items. I went with 7. I felt more options are always better. Plus, they provided that helpful reminder that your entire order is 25% off if you keep at least 5 items. Having extra items increased my likelihood of having at least 5 I wanted to keep.

Next, there is the opportunity to update your style preferences. I moved the slider a bit on the continuum from focusing on “Current taste” towards “New-to-you”. I made sure my sizing was still accurate, and was able to update any items to include/avoid.

My favorite new Stitch Fix feature popped up next, the AI Style Assistant. It really helped me put into words what I wanted from this Fix. It’s a conversational tool that started with my previous styling requests and asked what I was looking for. There was a list of options, or I could enter my own note. I chose to write my own note and shared that I was looking for travel friendly and versatile pieces for spring and summer travel. I also included color preferences.

I was then given a bunch of inspirational images to rate (thumbs up/thumbs down), which then led to more specific questions to fine tune my preferences. The questions were spot on, but not things I thought to address in my note. They included the types of pieces I wanted to focus on -  patterns and textures, fabric types, fabric care, and mix of color versus neutral. I was then given a drafted note to my stylist and an opportunity to update it further to meet my needs. Just one more click, and off went my order!

Three days later, I received my Fix preview. There were photos, with pricing, of 10 potential items, with the option to select up to eight to be in my box.  I chose five items that I thought I might like, and rejected another five that weren’t quite my style, not a color I’d look good in, or didn’t fit my needs for this specific box. I was then able to choose to have my stylist add 0-3 more items.  I went with the max, so three surprise options would be included with the five item I picked in the preview.

First Impressions

My box arrived 2 days early. While that’s better than late, I’m glad someone was home to receive it. I had picked the specific delivery date to have time to try on the items and return them within the short checkout/return window 3 days later. I ended up being able to try everything on and checkout by that date, but did notice there was an option to request to extend the checkout deadline.

The items came in 2 piles, rolled tightly with paper, to keep them from shifting and minimize wrinkling. Also included was a large return bag, a postage paid return label, and a page with a note from my stylist, and list of items and pricing.

The box was a nice mix of items: 2 pants, 3 sweaters, 2 dresses, and a skirt. Having asked for items for spring and summer travel, I was surprised to see two sweaters that were pretty heavy weight, though one was short sleeved. They would both be too warm, and too bulky, for my trips. Everything else was medium to lightweight and layerable, exactly what I was looking for.

What’s Inside

Tribal - Comfort Stretch Wide Leg Pants – Retail Value $78

Screenshot

Size: 8 | Color: Black

These pants might be my favorite item in the box. I wore them the very next day and they will be on repeat in my wardrobe. They fit perfectly, and seem like they will continue to fit if I lose those extra pounds many of us are looking to shed in January.

They are styled like 5 pocket wide leg denim, a fit that is always great for me, but a tad thinner than denim, and a nice deep black. This turns them into a great pair of work pants that would pair with just about any top. And the length was perfect too!

Democracy - Ab Solution Skyrise Wide Leg Jean W/Tulip Hem – Retail Value $88

Screenshot

Size: 8 | Color: Indigo

These fit great. I’ve always been a big fan of Democracy and their internal elastic waistband. Again, this should fit well even if I drop a pants size. The tulip hem is VERY subtle, as in if it wasn’t in the description I don’t think anyone would notice.

That keeps these a nice, versatile pair of wide leg dark denim. Did I need another pair? No. Are they a tad long? Yes. Since I ended up getting 25% for keeping 5 items did I keep them anyway? Also yes. Yet to be determined if they get hemmed a fraction or kept for wearing with higher heels (which happens very infrequently).

Market & Spruce - Ravyn Dress – Retail Value $55

Screenshot

Size: M | Color: Black

This dress looks unimpressive on a hanger. It’s a basic black tank dress. However, once I put it on I knew it was a keeper. It’s lightweight but not sheer, it drapes beautifully, the seams are in the right place, it covers bra straps completely without the need to adjust. The back and neckline are just high enough and it has pockets! I could go on and on. It’s perfect for travel and can be layered with cardigans, scarves, sweaters, and jackets. I knew this was a keeper the moment I put it on.

41 Hawthorn - Paris Knit Poplin Dress – Retail Value $88

Screenshot

Size: M | Color: Navy

I love the look of this dress. I had actually favorited it when browsing through the Stitch Fix app.

However, once I put it on, I decided it was just not for me. It fit, the color is good, but I couldn’t think of a single place I’d wear it. I realized it was just too “fussy” for my current preferences and lifestyle. The waist belt bow would drive me crazy, and I would constantly be adjusting it. The tiny buttons down the front of the dress were frustrating to button and unbutton while trying it on. I’m glad they sent this dress though, even though I didn’t keep it. It was a great reminder of why I buy what I buy, and wear what I wear. This box ended up having so many good options for me, which kept me from keeping this dress and having it sit, unworn, in my closet.

Market & Spruce - Sintra Tiered Skirt – Retail Value $59

Screenshot

Size: M | Color: Black

Another item I would not have grabbed from a rack, but ended up keeping. It is a lightweight, long black skirt with a wide gathered elastic waistband. It’s gauzy, so the fabric is meant to be a bit wrinkled, which is perfect for summer travel.

This is another item that will fit across multiple size bodies, which is a current focus as I build my wardrobe.  This skirt could be paired with just about anything, and would work for 3 seasons.

41 Hawthorn - Ella Full Button Classic Cardigan – Retail Value $59

Screenshot

Size: M | Color: Dark Grey

I’m not sure why this sweater was sent. It is a nice neutral layer, but I’ve already sent back grey sweaters from previous fixes because I have enough already. It’s also definitely a winter sweater, too heavy for summer travel. I liked the style, but it doesn’t meet my needs at all.

Stitch & Stripes - Harper Sweater Tee – Retail Value $79

Screenshot

Size: M | Color: Burgundy

This was another sweater that baffled me, but I ended up keeping it. When I saw it in the preview, I thought it might be a lightweight knit, but it is actually a pretty substantial acrylic (and dry clean only). I tried it on and love the style, fit, and color, but was a bit perplexed at a thick short-sleeved sweater. I ended up wearing it on a warmer (40 degree) January day when I would be indoors for most of the day.  I probably wouldn’t have kept it if I wasn’t keeping enough items for the 25% discount. We’ll see how often I wear it in the next 2 months before it warms up.

Lety & Me - Textured Short Sleeve Cardigan – Retail Value $49

Screenshot

Size: M | Color: Light Blue

This sweater was exactly what I was looking for: short sleeved, button up, and lightweight. It pairs beautifully with the tank dress, either for a bit of warmth or modestly. It could just as easily pair with a tank or tee, along with jeans or pants. It’s a great color for spring/summer; not too bright, not too dark, but would pair with both black, white, or denim with a nice contrast. This was the first to go in my keep pile.

Purchase and Returns

Screenshot

I ended up keeping 6 of 8 items. I sent back the grey cardigan and blue dress.  I would say that was a success. For the most part, my stylist sent items that work with my body, my taste, and my plans for these items. I appreciate the simple survey questions about each item that I chose to keep and return plus the option for comments so that I was able to explain what worked and what didn't.

Screenshot

After asking for specific item feedback, I was asked for feedback about my Fix. I appreciate that they think about the Fix as a whole, not just a bunch of individual items. They also ask if I want to keep my stylist (which I do), but I realize that some people may want to change theirs if they have had more retruns than keeps.

Screenshot

Since I kept at least 5 items, my total went down from $408 to $360 for those 6 items. I think this was a great value for 2 tops, 2 pants, a skirt, and a dress.  While I believe some of the brands are manufactured exclusively for Stitch Fix, I know the two pairs of pants I got are quality brands that sell for at or above what I paid for them in this box.

Shipping back the returns was easy. After checkout I was given the choice to scheudle my next fix (which I declined at this time). I was then given the option of USPS or FedEx and instructions on how to send back my returns. The process took seconds and I put the package in my mailbox the follwing morning for my postal carrier to pick up.

Takeaways

Overall, I’m excited to do another Fix - using the AI Style Assistant to create a really specific note to my stylist. Having provided that level of information, I feel like the stylist really knew what to focus on for this box.
