TokyoTreat Review – November 2025

Becca Peterson
ByBecca PetersonOct 29, 2025 | 0 comments

TokyoTreat is a monthly subscription box filled with candy and other tasty snacks that ship directly from Japan. Savory, sweet, salty—all the flavors given to you with authentic products you would find in a convenience store in Japan.

TokyoTreat ships monthly and includes full size premium products. With 12-17 treats in each box, they hit all of the flavor stops! More information about the snacks included can be found here.

This review is of the Premium Box which costs $37.50 a month + shipping.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

November is here and I am ready for some down time. Life has been extremely tough for my family this week, so it was a nice change of pace to receive the November TokyoTreat box. Packed with thirteen unique snacks straight from Japan, this fun-filled box was an absolute delight to open. With a bit of TokyoTreat experience under my belt, I can confidently say it’s one of the most exciting subscription boxes I’ve ever unboxed. I’m definitely a fan! Keep reading to see all the delicious discoveries inside.

What's Inside the Box

To welcome us to TokyoTreat, we first received a cute polaroid type picture with a note from Ayumi, the TokyoTreat CEO. A sweet addition, this truly makes me feel like part of the family! ❤️

Along with more than a dozen tasty snacks, Tokyo Treat also includes a colorful magazine packed with snack information, cultural information, trivia, facts, and contests! While exact nutritional information isn't shared, (it is on the package, but unless you know how to read Japanese, you're probably out of luck), the pamphlet does include if a food contains a common allergen, what it might contain traces of, and if it is suitable for vegetarians. A great summary of this month's box, my boys loved reading through this guide!

Melon Hi-Chews - Retail Value $5.00

I’ve mentioned before that every single TokyoTreat box I’ve ever received has included a special variety of KitKat bars. This month, however, we didn’t get any—and I have to admit, I’m a little sad! Instead, we received a medium-sized package of Premium Melon Hi-Chew candies. They were delicious, but it just wasn’t the same. My kids really enjoyed the chewy, real-melon flavor of the Hi-Chews, though they were a bit disappointed not to have a fun KitKat bar to try. Maybe next month they’ll be back—fingers crossed!

Honey Soy Sauce Cracker

The next item we received was a medium-sized honey soy sauce cracker that looked a bit like a rice cake but packed a serious flavor punch! Salty, sweet, and wonderfully crunchy, this cracker was delicious and had a great balance of flavors that left me wanting more. My whole family enjoyed this snack, and we’d love to see a larger quantity in a future box!

Polinky Corn Chips

Our family loves Bugles, and I think we’ve found a very similar snack in the Polinky Corn Chips! Triangular in shape with little holes, these corn chips have a mildly sweet and salty flavor that reminded us of the classic “witch finger” snack from the U.S. My kids were a bit hesitant when they noticed shrimp listed as an allergen, but these chips weren’t fishy at all—and they ended up being one of our favorites!

Mandarin Orange Jelly Bites

Gummy snacks are where it’s at, and these mandarin orange jelly bites are delish! Packaged in the cutest little resealable pouch, these sweet gumdrops taste just like mandarin oranges in jelly form—complete with a sugary coating on top! My kids loved these candies, especially their bright, citrusy flavor. They were a great addition to an already awesome box, and we can’t wait to see what’s included next!

Ramune Soft Candy

The next snack we received was definitely unique. These soft, marshmallow-like balls were super chewy and had a fizzy cola-flavored center! Surprising and unexpected, they were fun to try—but just not our favorite.

Pon de Donut

I’m definitely a donut girl, so I was excited to see what this Pon de Donut might taste like. While it didn’t have the fresh, fried cake-donut flavor my grandma used to make, this pretty little petite ring was soft, sweet, and had a light vanilla flavor that made it the perfect end to a big meal. I’d be more than happy if they sent more of these little donuts in the future!

MIKE Butter Soy Sauce Popcorn

Boy, TokyoTreat really sent all of our favorite snack foods this month! This time, we received a bag of butter soy sauce popcorn. Soft and slightly chewy in texture, the popcorn had a rich, buttery soy sauce flavor that kept us coming back for more. Good thing the bag was a decent size—our whole family loved it!

Crunky Strawberry White Chocolate

The next item we received was a large, crunchy strawberry white chocolate bar. Generous in size, it reminded me of a Crunch bar from here in the U.S., but made with white chocolate and real strawberry pieces. The flavor tasted more natural than many strawberry snacks, with a hint of tartness that paired perfectly with the sweet chocolate. My sister came over and wanted to try it—and she instantly fell in love with this bar!

Puku Puku Sweet Potato Taiyaki

While I consider myself an equal-opportunity snack lover, this sweet potato fish just wasn’t my favorite. With a plain wafer exterior and sweet potato cream inside, it was definitely fun to look at—the embossed fish scales were a cute touch—but the flavor fell a little flat for me. The kids weren’t too impressed either, but it was still fun to try!

Salt n' Butter Sweet Potato Crisps

Interestingly, while sweet potato isn’t usually my go-to flavor for snacks, I actually really liked this bag of Salt n’ Butter Sweet Potato Crisps! Thick and crunchy, these chips had the perfect balance of butter and salt, and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty they were. My kids weren’t sure what to think at first, but after a couple, they found them surprisingly addictive too!

Mt. Fuji Choco Crunch

I tried the Mt. Fuji Choco Crunch bar in the blond version, and it was light, crispy, and had a really nice white chocolate flavor. The kids and I really enjoyed it—it was delicious! The only downside was that it was tiny, but still a fun treat.

Mt. Fuji Sandwich Cookie

The Mt. Fuji Sandwich cookie was a tiny, adorable treat shaped like a little mountain! Crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside, it had a great mix of textures. My kids and I loved how cute it was, and it tasted just as fun as it looked. The only downside? It was so small that sharing was a bit tricky!

Yuzu Ohio Ramen

I love receiving Yuzu Shio Ramen lunch packs—they’re such a fun addition to my school lunches. While I haven’t eaten this one yet, I always enjoy having it on hand for a quick and tasty meal. The packaging is cute and convenient, making it easy to take anywhere. I’m excited to try it and see how the flavors compare to other ramen I’ve had. It’s always nice to have a little Japanese snack treat ready for lunch!

The Verdict

As you may know, I have a lot of experience reviewing snack boxes—and after several months of receiving TokyoTreat, I can honestly say this is an amazing subscription and our absolute favorite of all time! After browsing through the pamphlet, tasting all the snacks, and checking out the extra online offers, my family was beyond impressed. This month’s curation offered a wonderful mix of sweet and salty treats, and I always love the inclusion of ramen. Even though we didn’t receive KitKat bars this month, we really enjoyed almost all of the treats! Our favorites this month were the Mandarin Orange Jelly Bites, Strawberry White Chocolate Bar, and—surprisingly—the Salt n’ Butter Sweet Potato Crisps. Overall, we were once again impressed by the variety and some of the best packaging we’ve seen in any snack box. We’re already looking forward to December’s box and have our fingers crossed for more gummies. Any guesses on next month’s theme? Comment below!

Value Breakdown: For $37.50 + $12.50 shipping, you're receiving 13 different Japanese snacks.
