Silk + Sonder September 2025
This is definitely the hardest time of the year for me. We're in the last week of summer break, and I’m feeling all the emotions. Football season has already started, so our schedule has been hectic for a couple of weeks, but I am so not ready to throw school into the mix just yet! As stressful and bittersweet as it is, I am looking forward to getting back into a routine. Honestly, without my Silk + Sonder planner, I’d be completely cooked! (Just trying to get mentally prepped for my middle schoolers next week. 🤣) This planner truly is a lifesaver for staying organized—I’d never keep up with all the chaos without it!
Bravery - The courage to face fears, challenges, and uncertainties with strength and resolve, embracing vulnerability and taking risks.
I love that Silk + Sonder selects a unique theme each month, and I really appreciate how thoughtfully Meha, the creator, curates them. September’s theme is Bravery, and with everything going on—especially returning to work amid unsettled negotiations—I can honestly say it’s exactly what I needed. This is my restart. And while things feel a bit rocky right now, the theme is a powerful reminder to find courage, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s something I need to be reminded of daily. Now, let’s dig in, shall we?
One of my favorite things about Silk + Sonder is receiving a fresh planner each month. The regular reset has been incredibly helpful as yearly planners often leave me feeling overwhelmed. While this planner does include a year-at-a-glance spread, the calendar is too small to write in, but it’s perfect for referencing future dates. At the start of each month, I fill in the calendar with any known events and then watch the days fly by! This month is already off to a bang with two kids in football and school starting. Thankfully, since we only get one week of their schedule at a time, it doesn’t look too overwhelming on paper (yet!). Staying organized plays a huge role in managing my anxiety, and having a quick-reference calendar at the front of the planner helps me stay grounded and it keeps me from spiraling into panic.
On page 6, we open to a “Future Log,” which includes two small calendars for the upcoming months. There’s just enough space to jot down quick notes, so I used it to mark our game days just to keep them in the back of my mind for future reference. On the opposite page, there’s a blank sheet of graph paper which is perfect for notes, lists, or anything else you need to jot down!
Page 8 offers space to reflect on the previous month, with sections to note your wins, challenges, and favorite moments. It’s a great way to evaluate what’s working and what’s not. This is one of my favorite pages because it highlights all the accomplishments of the month. There’s also a section to jot down things you want to start, stop, and continue. August was busy, busy, busy with our local county fairs. My wins included earning grand champion ribbons, attending the all-star baseball game, and enjoying quality family time. My challenges? Union negotiations, an allergy bill, long days, and the bittersweet end of summer. Some of my favorite moments were the tractor pull, celebrating ribbon wins, taking walks down the old railroad grade, and hitting a new 5K time. Overall, it was a full and memorable final month of summer—one that brought lasting memories for me and my family.
Next up is the Monthly Intentions page. I love this section because it gives you space to set meaningful goals and revisit them throughout the month. With six categories and six boxes to fill in, there’s plenty of room to jot things down. It’s not necessarily a to-do list, but more about starting the month with intention and reminding yourself what you'd like to focus on. This month, my intentions are pretty simple since we have a lot of changes happening, but it felt really good to write them down. I'm excited to keep checking in on them throughout the month and see how far I can go!
As I mentioned earlier, this is more than just a planner—and the trackers on pages 10 and 11 are proof of that. These pages include a mood tracker and a habit tracker, offering space to list your typical moods and track them throughout the month. This feature is especially helpful for identifying patterns, which is something I find incredibly useful when managing my anxiety. I also love how customizable these trackers are, allowing you to track exactly what matters to you, all in such a beautiful format! Silk + Sonder typically ships about a week and a half before the new month begins, so while I’ve already created my “keys” for each tracker, I haven’t started filling them in just yet. Last month, I managed to surpass my 5K goal, so this month, I’m challenging myself to keep running and use the habit tracker to stay on top of it!
Page 12 features another tracker—this one for sleep. I don’t usually have trouble in this department, so I tend to skip it. The opposite page, however, is one of my favorites. Page 13 offers a Gratitude Log, which gives up 30 spaces to jot down things you are grateful for each day. I highly recommend this activity, even if you don’t have this particular planner!
This month’s theme is Bravery, and the next few pages invite us to really dive into what that means. These prompts offer a generous amount of space to explore how bravery shows up in our lives and to reflect on the core beliefs and values that matter most to us. While I’ve started filling it out, I feel like this activity is best saved for a slow, quiet weekend morning—when there’s time to reflect more deeply and be fully present.
The next activity is one I’ve never seen before, but it was surprisingly helpful, especially when it comes to managing anxiety. While I don't struggle with anxiety as intensely as I used to, it still creeps in from time to time, often accompanied by a fear of worst-case scenarios. The “Facing Fears Boldly” activity guides you through thoughtful questions that help you confront those fears and recognize how unlikely they are to actually happen. It’s a great exercise—one I haven’t needed to fully use yet, but I’m glad to have it on hand for the future. On the opposite page, there’s a beautifully decorated and uplifting poem by Maya Angelou, reminding us that life doesn’t have to be frightening. It was the perfect complement to the exercise!
The next page features a beautiful heart and foliage coloring design—and guess what?! This month, I actually had a little time to color it! On the opposite page, there’s a "Noticing Nature Game," where you’re encouraged to find fallen leaves, acorns, and pinecones, then answer a few thoughtful questions. I’m saving a few activities for September, so I left this one blank for now, but I’m really looking forward to doing it!
Every Silk + Sonder journal includes a recipe, and this month’s featured dish called for ingredients I didn’t have on hand, which is usually the case with these recipes. If you happened to try the Creamy Miso Pasta, how did it turn out? Let me know! On the opposite page, there’s a “Bravery Jar” activity where you jot down things that make you feel brave. I’ve only written down one item so far, but I’m sure it will be full by the end of the month!
Blank sheets are always helpful and a great place to do some long division, write notes, and jot down addresses!
Each month, we get some kind of mind puzzle, and this time it was a Bravery Crossword puzzle. These aren't my favorites, so I haven't gotten started, but by the end of the month I might have a few filled in. Interestingly enough, I think they forgot to exchange out their riddle. It seems to be the same as last month.... I think I have it correct though!! 🤣
On the opposite page is an expense tracker. While it’s a great feature, I don’t personally use it since I track my expenses in a Google Doc instead. As always—use this journal in whatever way works best for you!
I love that this journal always starts on a Monday, even if that means beginning in the previous month. This month, however, it doesn’t start until September 1st—so no head start for me! When it comes to the journal as a whole, I tend to spend most of my time on these calendar pages. With sections for meal plans, to-dos, habits and activities, shopping lists, and daily schedules, I write everything here. It keeps me on track each day and gives me that satisfying feeling of accomplishment—there’s truly nothing better than crossing an item off my list. I also appreciate the extra touches these pages include. While I don’t always fill out how I want to feel each week, this week I found it really helpful to write it down and pray over it. This journal is just so darn helpful!
Tidying up with one last quote, the dictionary definition of "Sonder," and the back cover, that's all there is to it. I have come to find that a key part of my day is when I sit and fill out my planner with my cup of coffee. This quiet time happens before the kids are awake, and kicks my day off to a good start before I start my school day. It is extremely important for me to keep a consistent schedule for managing my anxiety and creating much more positive life, and this journal definitely is a big help in that.
The Verdict
I hate how fast summer flew by, but we managed to pack in a gazillion opportunities during those few short months, making it truly unforgettable! While this month is shaping up to be even busier than the last, I’m ready to settle into September. With work starting back up—and football season kicking off—Silk + Sonder has become an absolute necessity. Without this planner, I’d definitely be lost (and so would my husband!). I continue to be impressed with this subscription and can’t wait to see what’s in store for October.
I typically tend to allocate about 15-20 minutes a day to this journal and flip from front to back reflecting, adding to, and processing what I have previously written. By the end of the month, my brain feels much more organized and stable. The beauty of this planner is remarkable, and the packable size means I can tote it around in my purse. Being extremely impressed with all aspects, I am really looking forward to discovering more about myself, all while staying organized and offering myself a little daily quiet time and important self-care.
