Retreat Yourself is an Australian quarterly lifestyle box that encourages you to slow down, make your health and well-being a priority, and put yourself first, as well as introduces you to conscious brands that have been carefully chosen to create a wonderful retreat at home.

For AU$79.95 ($51.93 USD), you'll receive almost AU$300 ($194.84 USD) of Australian and New Zealand wellness products, the 20-page wellness Retreat Guide, playlists, rituals, and more. Items range from home goods, health supplements, beauty products, and accessories, plus other fun finds.

This review is of the Retreat Yourself Autumn 2024 "Nourish" box.

Author's Note: Since the box is Australia-based, where it is currently autumn, this is the current box that's still available to purchase.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

My box arrived bursting with so many new and cool finds; everything was packaged securely and there was a QR code under the lid that took me to a relaxing playlist to help set the mood.

This leaflet has some of the answers to the questions you might have about the products included in this quarter's box. I like that they include a brand bio for each item so you can learn more about these local, conscious AU & NZ brands.wgrregb

Now, on to the items!

Love Beauty Foods 'Sleep & Nourish' Body Oil - Retail Value AU$34.95 ($22.70 USD)

The body oil I received in a previous RY box is one of my favorite things ever and I'm not really a body oil gal. So I was excited to try this relaxing oil featuring ylang ylang, chamomile and clary sage. The smell is lovely and definitely sets a calming mood but I'm not totally in love with it. The jojoba, evening primrose and sunflower oil base is very moisturizing but maybe a bit too rich for my skin, especially since Sydney's summer hasn't gotten the memo that it's now autumn.

Antipodes Credo Probiotic Ferment Revitalise Serum - Retail Value AU$59.00 ($38.32 USD)

How a skincare product looks and smells matters a lot to me and this one delivers on both fronts. The shimmery peach color is so pretty and it smells like Apricot Delight when you apply it to your face. This Kalibiome probiotic serum is supposed to clear blemishes and target bad bacteria. I do think my skin looks a bit clearer since using it but mostly I like the slight shimmer and glow it leaves behind.

Trilogy Very Gentle Hydra-Mask - Retail Value AU$48.99 ($31.82 USD)

Trilogy is a clean, natural beauty brand that makes amazing products and this is another winner. This moisturizing cream mask features macqui berry oil to fight free radical damage, sweet almond oil to deeply hydrate and Botanical complex SyriCalm® to calm and soften skin. The rich texture of this mask is slightly cooling and feels really nourishing. It left my skin feeling soft and soothed.

Empire Australia Still Life Bath Salts - Retail Value AU$9.95 ($6.46 USD)

I can't remember the last time I took a bath but this was much needed. These bath salts definitely elevate your soak with pure Rose essential oil and Camellia oil to soften and revitalize your skin as well as boost your mood. The organic sea salt works to detoxify and promote relaxation, making it a deeply pampering and luxurious experience.

Wild Emery 'RELAX' Shower Steamer - Retail Value AU$8.50 ($5.52 USD)

I received a shower steamer in last season's RY Box but it was a powder. This compacted block is much more convenient and looks so cute! You put the shower steamer on your shower caddy, on a ledge or in a soap dish on the floor where shower spray can activate the steamer but not so it's getting too wet too quickly. It's supposed to fill the air with aroma to improve your mood or clear your sinuses but this one (like the powder) did nothing for me. It might work better if I had an enclosed shower and not just a thin sliver of glass for a shower screen that does nothing to stop water (or steam) going everywhere.

Retreat Yourself ‘Here Comes The Sun’ Incense + Palo Santo Holder - Retail Value AU$34.95 ($22.70 USD)

When it comes to subscription boxes, sometimes it feels like the products from the box's brand are just cheap filler items, but I think this might actually be the hero item of this box. I was most excited to receive this item and it did not disappoint when I unboxed it. The speckled ceramic holder is weighty and looks great on my mantle. It holds the incense sticks that also came in the box well but I'm mainly looking forward to using it as a palo santo holder.

Retreat Yourself ‘Here Comes The Sun’ Incense, Vanilla & Sandalwood - Retail Value AU$14.95 ($9.71 USD)

I really appreciate that RY included these incense sticks so you could use the holder right away. These sticks combine vanilla and sandalwood essential oils, to evoke a sense of calm, stillness, and serenity. I haven't burned incense sticks at home much but I'm going to keep giving these ones a shot. It's just a bit strong and I find I have to extinguish them before the stick is done.

essano Hydration+ Daily Facial Moisturiser - Retail Value AU$16.99 ($11.03 USD)

Did you know that you should be using your skincare products on your neck and decolletage as well? I'm always neglecting these two areas but when I do hit them up, I can tell they really crave the extra hydration. All this to say that I really appreciate the generous size of this moisturizer, as it allows for liberal application beyond just the face. More than the size though, it's a great lightweight moisturizer that works well for AM or PM.

Retreat Yourself ‘Sculpt + Glow’ Jade Gua Sha - Retail Value AU$24.95 ($16.20 USD)

I LOVE my Gua Sha. It feels so good to massage my face with it. I try to do it once or twice a day when I can. Just depends on what I'm putting on my face morning or night because I don't usually use a face oil or oil-based serums. But if I'm just washing my face in the morning, or if it was a no makeup day, I'll use the Gua Sha with an oily cleanser. I like using it with thick moisturizers and over sheet masks too! Since this is my third Gua Sha tool, I might keep this one in the fridge.

KOJA Oat Bites, Choc Chip - Retail Value AU$1.60 ($1.04 USD)

Digging into the wholesome snacks featured in the RY boxes is always a highlight and this season's treats certainly lived up to expectations. First up is this vegan and plant-based Choc Chip Oat Bite made with rolled oats and a blend of high fibre, antioxidant-rich, wholesome ingredients. It's supposedly a good source of prebiotics and dietary fibre but I just thought it was a yummy sweet snack.

FUNDAY Natural Sweets, Raspberry Gummy Frogs - Retail Value AU$4.50 ($2.92 USD)

Red frogs are an iconic Australian lolly but they're not exactly healthy. These gummies taste better (IMHO) and I don't feel bad eating them or giving them to my kid. They taste fruitier and juicier than the original red frog and have a better (chewier) texture. They're made with gut-loving prebiotic fibre and have no sugar-added or sugar alcohols, which means no laxative effect. The best part is, one bag is one serving, so you can finish them all without guilt.

MunchMe Nut Clusters, Cashew Sesame - Retail Value AU$3.00 ($1.95 USD)

These wholesome seed clusters are made with only six ingredients: cashews (73%), flax seeds, sesame seeds (9.5%), rice malt syrup, cane sugar, sea salt. Not only are they delicious but I felt like they were really filling as well, so three small pieces was enough to tide me over between meals.

Freed Beverages Iced Tea with Prebiotics, Citrus Iced Tea - Retail Value AU$5.00 ($3.25 USD)

This was just ok. While the snacks were all home runs, this prebiotic drink missed the mark for me taste-wise. I finished it because of its gut nourishing properties. It's designed to support your gut health with 2g of Sunfiber, a prebiotic fiber that nurtures the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. But the taste was so bland, I'd rather drink water.

20-Page Wellness Retreat Guide

The Retreat Yourself box also comes with a booklet filled with mindful activities, journaling prompts, a yoga flow, and a healthy recipe.

Verdict

The Retreat Yourself boxes are so thoughtfully curated with each item carefully selected to support a holistic approach to health and well-being, from nourishing snacks and skincare to fitness tools and mindfulness resources. It really feels like receiving a personalized wellness retreat in a box, and this season was no different. My favorite items this month are the beautiful Incense Holder and the Credo Probiotic Serum that's making my skin so glowy every morning. But the Raspberry Gummy Frogs are probably going to be my first repurchase.
