Everyone knows Sephora is a beauty store where you can find almost anything and everything related to makeup, skincare, body care, hair care, and self-care, but did you know they also frequently release curated limited edition sets? They recently released a curated clean perfume sampler set that comes with nine perfume samples and a voucher to redeem for a bigger size in your favorite scent. Let's check it out!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.

First Impressions

This set comes packaged in a recyclable bag, and tucked inside are nine different perfume samples and a scent voucher you use (both online or in-person) to redeem your full-size bottle. If you want to learn more about each perfume, there are additional details on the back of the box along with a handy dandy insert that gives a short scent description and even has space for you to write out your thoughts.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside This Limited Edition Box From Sephora

By Rosie Jane Rosie Eau de Parfum, 1.2 mL - Estimated Value $1.80

Certificate redeems for the 50 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $75

I’ve smelled the Rose scent from By Rosie Jane before, and even own the full-size perfume oil because it came in a previous Allure beauty box. I had no idea that this brand made actual eau de parfumes to go along with their perfume oils! This is a skin scent of nude musk and sweet rose, and I think this is the perfect perfume for those who like a fragrance that isn’t too aggressive.

CLEAN RESERVE Sparkling Sugar Eau de Parfum, 1.5 mL -  Estimated Value $1.65

Certificate redeems for the 100 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $110

I’m a fan of this fragrance house, and I think it makes a lot of safe scents that the vast majority of people will like. It may not blow you away with its unique notes, but it’ll be pleasing to smell. Sparkling Sugar has scent notes of black currant, white musk, and peach nectar, and it’s described as a warm and sweet gourmand. Usually when I think of gourmand fragrances I think of heavier scents, but this is on the lighter side (and quite enjoyable, in my opinion).

Commodity Gold+ Bold Perfume Spray, 2 mL - Estimated Value $2.90

Certificate redeems for the 100 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $145

I haven’t been crazy about a lot of the Commodity fragrances I tried, so I didn’t think this was going to be a perfume for me. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised, and this is a favorite in the set for me. It’s a warm and spicy fragrance that is almost cozy, but still appropriate to wear in the summer months. This is a perfume that makes me feel like more of a women when I wear it- it gives confidence without being over the top. It has key notes of patchouli, sandalwood, and vanilla, and I like that this leans more on the “warm” side of warm and spicy without being a skin scent.

Ellis Brooklyn Salt Eau de Parfum, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $3.24

Certificate redeems for the 50 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $108.

I am a big Ellis Brooklyn fan- I already own full-size bottles of West and Bee, and I expect to eventually own more from the brand. Salt is a solid perfume in the fresh fragrance family, but it isn’t my favorite. It has key notes of ylang yang, Tahitian tiare (gardenia) and ambergris, and I am really not a fan of ambergris scents- when it is included I always find it to overpower the other notes in the fragrance. I would love it if their tropical floral note was more prominent, and think that if you like ambergris scents (think Baccarat Rouge 540) you’ll like this fresh spin on it.

Maison Louis Marie No.13 Nouvelle Vague Eau de Parfum, 1.5 mL -  Estimated Value $2.79

Certificate redeems for the 50 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $93

This is actually the newest perfume launch from Maison Louis Marie (it came out only a few months ago), so I was really happy to see it featured in this sampler set. It was created with the goal of evoking spring on the Italian coast, and it has scent notes of coconut, Tuscan fig, and amber. I was excited to try a fragrance made with fig and hoped that would be a more prominent note, but I found the amber base to be overpowering compared to the other notes of the fragrance. This has really good staying power (I can still smell it on my arm 9 hours after applying it), but this isn’t my ideal perfume.

PHLUR Somebody Wood Eau de Parfum, 2 mL - Estimated Value $3.84

Certificate redeems for the 50 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $96.

This is one of the perfume samples I was most looking forward to trying, and I was a bit surprised at it. I was expecting stronger woodsy notes, but this very much wears like a skin perfume with a hint of wood rather than a perfume that evokes a forest of trees. The key notes are sandalwood, amber, and musk, and this definitely is a musk-forward scent to me rather than a sandalwood one. It has really great staying power (I can still smell it on my wrist 9 hours after applying), and would be a good option for someone looking for a skin scent that it’s floral like Rosie from By Rosie Jane.

Skylar Peach Fields Eau de Parfum, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $2.70

Certificate redeems for the 50 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $90

I have really been in a peach mood lately, so I was excited to try it in my perfume instead of my morning fruit smoothies for a change. I thought the fruity top notes were fun, but it quickly dissipated to the heart of osmanthus and sandalwood. I quite like sandalwood, but I didn't actually pick up much of it in this fragrance. I think this may be one of those perfumes that is very reactive depending on your body's pH level, because I wasn't a fan of how this scent settled on me.

The 7 Virtues Coconut Sun Eau de Parfum, 1.7 mL - Estimated Value $2.99

Certificate redeems for the 50 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $88

This perfume screams summer to me. The key notes are coconut, frangipani (also known as plumeria), and vanilla, and it makes me ready to go sit on a beach. It has a good staying power because the formula is 22% fragrance oils, and I really like the mission of the brand as a whole (they source essential oils from families who are in nations that are rebuilding after conflict).

5 SENS Life of The Party Eau de Parfum, 2 mL - Estimated Value $4.33

Certificate redeems for the 30 mL Eau de Parfum that retails for $65.

This was my first time trying the brand 5 SENS, and I was pleasantly surprised by this fruity-floral scent. Typically fruity-floral scents are heavy on the florals, so I really liked that you could pick up prominent fruit notes. The key notes here are peach blossom, blackcurrant, saffron, jasmine, and ambrox, and I thought it was well-balanced considering ambrox, like ambergris, can overpower other scent notes. The only reason I am not more strongly considering using my voucher on this perfume is because the full-size is about $20 less than the cost of this sampler set- price isn’t everything when redeeming your scent voucher, but it definitely is in my mind.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $85

Cost Breakdown: This kit costs $85, and I received $26.24 worth of perfume samples and a voucher to redeem for a bottle of perfume or candle of my choice that ranges in price from $65-145. Sephora promised a value of $125 for this set, but the fragrance you select will dictate if that's true for you.

Key Takeaways

I really enjoyed trying out this Clean Perfume Sampler Set from Sephora- it featured a new perfume launch as well as multiple perfumes from lesser known brands like 5 Sens, The 7 Woods, and Phlur. I am surprised at the range of value in the full-size versions - one perfume retails for more than double the 5 Sens perfume. If you're a fan of fragrances and are looking to add to your collection, this is definitely a set worth checking out (and it would make a great gift, too).  Pro tip- if you want to redeem your voucher for a perfume that is out of stock online, try searching for it at a local store using the "order online pick up in store" feature.

Other Things You Should Know

Can you still get this box if you order today? Yes, this set is still available.

Can the voucher be redeemed online? Yes! Sephora recently changed its voucher program to allow for in-store or online redemption. You can't redeem this at a Sephora inside JCPenney store, Kohl’s store, or Sephora Canada store, so the ability to redeem online is a great option for people who don't have a local Sephora but still want to take advantage of it (and when you do you get to add your two free samples to your order, even if you're not buying anything else).

Is it hard to redeem the voucher? No, but sometimes you have to enter the code a few times when there are letters that could be mistaken for numbers and vice versa.

Is shipping free? Shipping is free on all orders over $50 and costs $6.50 for orders under $50 (though you can usually find a free shipping coupon for smaller orders that will stack with other coupon codes)
