BREO BOX Review Summer 2023

The summer BREO BOX is all about the senses! I was pretty excited to try a few of these products out after seeing a few spoilers online...especially the ones that were made for the nose! I'm big on how things smell and the smallest little whiff of something can take me back to another time and place. Just the other day, I walked out of the store and a smell instantly transported me to another city we had lived in almost five years ago. Needless to say, I think smells are important and I was excited BREO BOX had thrown a couple products in with that in mind. While one of these products was absolutely amazing, the other left a lot to be desired. Check out my review of the products and let me know what you think of the BREO BOX Summer edition in the comments below!

Pura Smart Fragrance Diffuser — Retail Value $44.99

The Pura Smart Fragrance Diffuser is a really great concept. You know how whenever you buy those cheap air fresheners at the store, they seem to run out within days? Well, the whole point of this diffuser is that you can program it to only run at certain times, on certain days, at certain strengths, and certain fragrances. I'll admit, it might be a bit "smarter" than what I'm looking for in a diffuser, but I love the idea of it.

When you first get the diffuser, your first step is to set up the app and link it to your Pura diffuser. Once it has found its connection, you will then personalize it for you. The first question it asks is which room you will be using your diffuser in. I stuck ours into a socket in the kitchen...which I do not recommend. The oils we were given smelled fantastic, don't get me wrong. But they are pretty strong and not something I wanted in my kitchen. I happen to love the smell of food being cooked, so this was promptly moved to our mud room where my kids leave their sports equipment and therefore not the best-smelling room.

The two scents I received were Pacific Aqua and Yuzu Citron. I thought both were great, however, I liked the Yuzu Citron a little bit more. I thought it was less intense and had a fresh feel to it. One of the great things about this diffuser though, is you can switch between two different scents at anytime. Plus, you can change the intensity of it very easily through the app. Have guests coming over for a party? Crank it on up to 10. Just a normal day after work? Slide it on down to a 3. It really is that easy to use. On top of that, there are some great brands who have gotten in on the Pura trend and have had their own scent made for the diffuser such as Nest, Tommy Bahama, and Anthropologie. There are hundreds of scents to choose from and the average price for each one ranges from $10-$15.

LARQ Bottle Filtered — Retail Value $70

The LARQ water bottle is a sleek-looking bottle that comes with its own water filter inside. While I think everyone should be drinking clean and filtered water, I'm not sure if it's totally necessary to have a filter in the bottle itself. I totally understand the idea of this, but I haven't changed out my filter in our refrigerator in years, so I'm not sure I'd stay on top of one for a water bottle. If you are much more on top of this kind of stuff than I am, however, then this might be a great product for you!

In all transparency, BREO BOX has sent a few water bottles in their quarterly boxes lately and I think maybe I'm just over the water bottles. Our water bottle drawer is pretty much overflowing at this point and I'd love a product that is a little bit different.

I do like that it comes with a flip top and a carabiner clip, and this will get used as a regular water bottle for our adventures out because of that. The filter cap is actually an add-on anyways, so you can just buy the LARQ Bottle Flip Top for $39.95. The addition of the water filter cap makes it a much more expensive bottle.

KeySmart™ iPro Black — Retail Value $69.95

The KeySmart iPro works along the same premise as the Apple AirTags through the Apple "Find My" Network on your phone. It uses geolocation to show you the location of your lost keys and also has an option to play a little jingle if you know that they are somewhere close by.

Unfortunately, I am one of those hated green bubble people and was unable to use this because of that. However, my husband once again gladly swooped in to give them a go and said they worked fantastic. The biggest issue with the KeySmart though is that it is a little too big. Adding on a set of keys (one with a large key fob), plus the longer KeySmart organizer makes your key ring quite large. He decided to take his keys off and stick it in a small pocket of his suitcase and use it that way instead.

The company does make smaller key rings that work the same way, so I would be interested in trying one of those out and seeing if the smaller size makes it a bit more user friendly.

Prepara Deluxe Oil Mister — Retail Value $17.50

This is one of those items that you are either going to use all the time or never at all. If you are trying to be extremely healthy and only want a small amount oil on your food, then this is a great way to accomplish that. If you are like me and just want the food to taste good, then this might be a bit overkill. It works great though and I can see the appeal when you want just a light spritz of some higher end olive oil.

The oil mister is incredibly easy to use. You literally just fill the bottle with any kind of oil you want and then pump the top a few times. This causes a vacuum within the bottle and then the oil is released once you push down on the button at the top. My only concern with this is the tiny tube within the bottle. I was able to add soapy water to the container and rinse the tube out, but oil always seems to eventually accumulate so I am wondering how this will be after multiple uses.

Draft Top LIFT — Retail Value $24.99

Great thought, but overall I don't see the point. The draft top is literally a can opener that is shaped so you can pop the top off of a canned drink. Why? Well, the thought process behind this is that if you can smell the drink better, then you will taste it better as well. Works for wine, but not sure there was much of a difference for the beer I tested out. Plus, the draft top essentially turned my can into a cup. If I need more air in my beer or an easier way to drink it...I'm probably just going to put it into an actual cup.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

Ehhh, honestly, I don't know if this one hit the mark. Were there some great products in here? Yes. But not all of them were my favorite and when you add up the ones I did enjoy, it doesn't really make sense to buy the whole box just to get those. I really enjoyed the Pura air diffuser, but that was the only product I would probably buy totally outright. The water bottle is great for someone who needs a portable filter (I don't) and the KeySmart is a great idea but a little too big (and unable to be used by non-Apple users). Obviously, this is all a matter of opinion and if you feel you would use these products more than me, great! However, I'll be looking forward to the fall BREO BOX and hoping it fares a little bit better in my eyes than the summer one did.

The Cost: $159 per quarter + free shipping to the contiguous US.

Value Breakdown: The total value of the box is $240 despite only costing $159. That's an $80 savings!

In a nutshell? I'm a bit of a walking contradiction!

I love traveling the world and stepping out of my comfort zone, but I can also be a complete introvert and will be totally happy hanging out at home with my family for days on end. I enjoy working out and going for runs or HIIT classes at the gym, but I also have no problem binging on a bag of cheetos and a glass of wine (which pairs surprisingly well together!). I love how I look dressed up and ready to hit the town, but am much more comfortable in a pair of sweats while watching The Mandolorian with my husband and two little boys. I love trying exotic foods and the different spices and textures that come with it, but my all-time-favorite meal is a juicy cheeseburger with fries.

So, maybe I should just call myself well-rounded!? Whatever it is, I keep an open mind about everything and am always on the hunt for a new and exciting adventure!

I am surprised that the review does not mention whether the filter in the water bottle can be used to create safe drinking water on the trail. Does this work for filtering water from natural sources such as streams? Does it filter out giardia and cryptosporidium? If so, it might be worthwhile. Does the packaging include information on this?

They’ve already had a key smart water bottle and bottle opener in their box in the past. Seems like a lot of repeats with past boxes, glad I cancelled.

Not at all tempting! Especially because of the Draft Top Lift and the KeySmart iPro. We don’t use Apple devices at all. It’s easy to pass on this box!

I agree with your review of the items. This wasn’t their best box but I do love the Pura diffuser. GMA deals had Pura refills a few weeks ago. I bought 6 refills for something like 60% off so I’m set for while.
I bought a UV water bottle and use that if I need to fill up with tap. My YA son drinks so much water that I just sub to a water service that brings 5 gallon bottles. My son “loses” (he says they aren’t lost, he just doesn’t know where they are) water bottles all the time so if I’m sure this one will get used.
We received a keysmart in a previous box. I am an Android user so can’t use this one.
I haven’t tried the can opener thingee but I am going to. I guess it would be good if you need to add ice to your can. It doesn’t take up a lot of space so I’m going to hold on to it.
I do have several oil misters already but I’m going to fill this one up with lemon olive oil. My brother bought me a pricy one for Christmas (we only gift consumables) and it would be great to use this mister to add a mist of lemon oil to finished fish dishes.

Great, honest review. This is the sort of content I wish we’d see more of on MSA. Thanks Kelly!

Great review and very funny at times. When I saw the spoilers for this box, I also wondered about what the point was for the draft top lift. Are there people out there who want the top off of their can of beer, soda, sparkling water etc? Sometimes these tech solutions appear to try to fix a problem that really isn’t a problem.
