This is a review for the $16.00 Crystal of the Month subscription.
First Impressions
How cute is the crystal covered tape that wraps this sturdy box? Such a lovely presentation! The crystals were carefully packaged: they were nestled in several feet of white paper and enclosed in bubble wrap. It’s not surprising, then, that they arrived in perfect condition.
The first insert included in the box was a quick note from Adam, the owner of Enchanted Crystal, who just returned from the Tucson Gem Show. He asked for feedback from Enchanted Crystal subscribers and hinted that new gems will be coming to the box! Now that I’m a collector, I’m excited to see what’s to come!
The other insert includes some information about this month’s featured gemstone. Among other facts, it explains something I find very interesting: not all crystals take thousands of years to form, some can grow within hours. Pegmatites, an igneous rock formation that most Amazonite is formed within, can be fully grown in only a month. Fascinating!
The Crystals
Brazilian Rhodonite & Moroccan Quartz Point (Bonus Crystals)
Each month, Enchanted Crystal includes a small collection of bonus crystals and stones. I look at these extras as an appetizer; a little taste to get you hungry for more!
The bonus crystals I received were 3 pieces of Rhodonite from Brazil and a Moroccan Quartz point.
Rhodonite is a pink stone marbled with a black (manganese oxide) matrix. In the 1930s, Rhodonite was discovered in Argentina and quickly became popular around the world. In fact, Russia used over 260 square feet of it to cover columns throughout Moscow’s metro stations. Metaphysically, Rhodonite is associated with the heart chakra and thought to have the ability to assist in self-discovery, inspiration and wisdom.
Moroccan Quartz is a variety of clear Quartz. According to the Healing Crystals Company, “It’s one of, if not the most, versatile stones to have occurred on Earth, and it has a myriad of properties and benefits that seem to solely serve humankind for the better.“ Clear Quartz is said to absorb and store energy until it’s ready to be released. It’s also believed to increase clairvoyance within the user while connecting them to the spirit world.
This very beautiful crystal and three lovely stones are a great way to start the box. Now, on to the main event!
Amazonite
Amazonite is named after the Amazon river that flows through Brazil, where Amazonite is found in abundance. This piece of Amazonite came carefully wrapped in packing paper, then bubble wrap, then some tissue paper to protect the edges. It has a lovely blue hue that is definitely reminiscent of water.
Amazonite’s beautiful blue color is created by lead and water within Feldspar. It has been used for thousands of years by many ancient civilizations, including the Egyptians, Mesopotamians and Indians. Amazonite was so prized that a scarab ring made from it was found in King Tut’s tomb.
Metaphysically, Amazonite is tied to the heart and throat chakras. According to the Crystal Council, “It’s been called the “peacemaker stone” due to its communicative abilities.” It’s also believed that it can calm any environment and negate negative energies. Amazonite is also thought to have the ability to remove stress and anxiety from its wearer.
The Verdict
Whether you’re a believer in the metaphysical properties of stones and crystals, or just appreciate them for their natural beauty, they have a place in our life.
The Moroccan Quartz point is really cool; I love the shape of it so much that I plan to use it as a pendant in a necklace that I’m making. The Brazilian Rhodonite is beautiful and might also make an appearance in a future necklace or bracelet creation of mine! I have loved working with and wearing Amazonite for the past 15 years. While this piece is a bit too large to wear, it will add a beautiful serene-ness to my collection of crystal specimens.
If you’re interested in crystals, this is a great place to start your collection. As for the value, considering the fact that shipping is included in the $16 cost, I feel that the subscription price is a very good deal. I’m always excited to see what this box will contain and what beauty and knowledge lie within it!
