GlossyBox is a beauty subscription that sends five deluxe and full-size products to your door every month for $21 (with free shipping to the U.S.). You should expect to discover new brands of hair care, makeup, and skincare in each box, wrapped up nicely with a different theme each time.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

FYI: GlossyBox sometimes sends out multiple variations of the box during some months, so there may be some variation between what we review and what you receive.

First Impressions

This month’s theme is “Après-Chic.” Although I’m not one for skiing, I am all for cozy winter vibes. I’m excited to see what array of products this curation will bring.

Front of Card for GlossyBox February 2023

What's Inside The Box

PIXI Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner, 15 ml - Estimated Value $8.70

I used to really enjoy the brand Pixi Beauty (and still do). Despite it being more of a drugstore type brand, I’ve always found their products to deliver solidly on performance. I’ve had the pleasure of using this Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner in the past, and I remember how soothed it left my skin feeling after cleansing. Unlike some other toners out there, this one is alcohol free and includes aloe vera. Other star ingredients like ginseng and glycolic acid work together to improve circulation and exfoliate the skin. I love how well this toner absorbs into the skin, and it’s not at all greasy or irritating. Even though the sample size included in this box is quite small, a little does go a long way, so this should last me for my next week-long getaway.

BELLAPIERRE COSMETICS Banana Setting Powder in Original (Light), 4 g - Retail Value $12.99

I am a huge fan of Bellapierre Cosmetics. Their products have yet to ever disappoint me. This particular product, the Banana Setting Powder in Original (Light) is one that I’ve never had the opportunity of trying. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to see it included in this month’s curation. Banana setting powder is now a main staple for me when it comes to my everyday makeup. It’s the final step in my typical routine, and it does an incredible job keeping an all-day hold on my makeup. This powder keeps my makeup looking fresh through the entire day of work, and through any after-work meetups. In the past, I would most often use setting spray; but then I discovered setting powder, and I’ve been sold ever since. This powder does not cause any caking whatsoever, and the subtle yellow hue shows up transparent on my skin, which I really appreciate.

FIGS AND ROUGE Clarity Skin Perfecting Serum, 30 ml - Retail Value $50.67

I’m really excited about this Clarity Skin Performing Serum from Figs and Rouge. This is probably the second item I’ve ever tried from the brand, and I was a bit wary, as my first impression wasn’t the best. But this serum has proven to be quite impressive thus far. It does promise to do quite a bit, including refine pores, gently exfoliate, and unclog pores. The texture of the serum itself is a bit thicker than what I normally consider a serum. Since it’s a bit creamier, this is perfect for the tail end of winter. If I were to use this during the summer, however, I’d most likely break out due to the heavier formula. So far, I’m really loving this serum. When I apply it at night, I have indeed noticed my skin looks plumper in the morning.

LOTTIE LONDON Ombré Blush in Haze, 2.5 g - Retail Value $7.15

I really like the shade of this blush, ‘Haze.’ It’s a pinkish coral that works nicely with my skin tone. I’ve tried Lottie London’s Ombré Blush in the past, and I remember really enjoying the formula. It’s lightweight and smooth, applies easily and blends well. The formula is also buildable but pigmented. Since a little goes a long way, this product will last me for quite a while. I will definitely get quite a few uses out of this, and it’s the perfect size to toss into an overnight or travel bag. The texture of this particular blush is also soft and almost creamy, with a very light shimmer that brings a lovely, healthy flush and light sheen to my face. This blush is perfect for a natural everyday look and has long-lasting wear.

CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Instant Volumizing Leave-In Mist With Rose Water, 150 ml - Retail Value $39.00

My hair is very thick and curly. On the bottle of this Instant Volumizing Leave-In Mist With Rose Water from Christophe Robin, it clearly says, “for fine and flat hair.” So, unfortunately, this is not a universal product. For me, I already have quite a bit of volume, and the product is so watery that it would likely be nothing more than frizz-inducing. There is also a rather potent rose scent to it, which definitely lingers for quite a while. I’ll be passing this along to a finer-haired friend of mine who will get more use out of it than I would.

Verdict

I thought this was a good month for GlossyBox! The highlight of this box, for me, was Bellapierre Cosmetics’ banana setting powder. It performs incredibly well to hold makeup all-day long. A bit thicker in texture than my normal go-to, the Figs and Rouge’s serum is wonderfully hydrating and refreshing for my skin. The toner from Pixi Beauty is a welcome inclusion as well; the aloe vera in the formula works great to soothe my skin after cleansing. Lottie London’s ombré blush in ‘Haze’ gives me a natural pop of color with a slight shimmer, and I appreciate how nicely it works for my skin tone. Lastly, I’ll be passing along the leave-in mist from Christophe Robin since it’s not made for my hair but for those with finer hair. Overall, I thought this was a solid month. The product curation is nicely varied, and the value is there.

What’s going on with GlossyBox? Have they ceased to exist? Their website is woefully behind and the 3 month order I made LAST year has still not been fulfilled.

I am confused by the price which is listed as $21 at top of review and $35 at the bottom. I would be interested for $21 but not for $35.

I recently began getting a competitive box. I sign up a few months then cancel when I have a decent amount of things to use or I’m tired of getting things I don’t need.I like what I see in this box as I have gotten the banana setting powder in a previous box. I also used the toner as well. I’m curious as to if you feel this box is as good as other boxes in this price range? I have gotten boxy charm and allure. I won’t get sample sized boxes. They are useless to me. Much thanks.
