First Impressions

This month included an activity sheet and a welcome sheet introducing this month's contents. This month's activity is "Celebrations Sensory Exploration." Introduce baby to items you use for celebrations; ask them what they see, hear, smell, etc.  and encourage them to really explore each item and use their senses.

What's Inside This Box

Who? A Celebration of Babies by Robie H. Harris - Retail Value $8.99

Who? is an adorably illustrated book showing you different relationships surrounding a baby. Diverse babies and caregivers fill the pages with colorful scenery that is sure to catch a baby's eye. It is repetitive and is easy for a little one to follow along.

We Are Little Feminists: Celebrations by Brook Sitgraves Turner  – Retail Value $9.99

This book is an excellent representation of different cultures, celebrations, and traditions. Little Feminists has such a way with capturing the beauty of diverse families and the joy that they're feeling. I love this series of books because it has so many gorgeous pictures of real people to help my babies see faces that are different and similar to their own.

Discussion Questions

Little Feminist Book Club included discussion cards for each book. The messages this month revolve around celebrations. We just celebrated my birthday a few weeks ago, so Ro and I had a nice conversation about what we do to celebrate birthdays and why. It was fun to get his perspective on birthdays and tell him a little more about some of our birthday traditions we have within our family.

Verdict

Little Feminist Book Club had really cute picks this month. It has been a blast this month sitting down with Ro (3 years old) and Winnie (4 months old) and reading this month's books. Ro is a little old for these selections, but I have him help to show off pages and explain some of the pictures to his sister. They both loved looking at the different faces in We are Little Feminists: Celebrations, and they also liked the color pictures and relationships illustrated in Who? A Celebration of Babies. The value of this month's picks comes to $17.98, not quite hitting the mark of the cost of this subscription.

After shipping, this subscription adds up to $25.90 a month; if you're someone who doesn't mind paying the price for excellent curation and content, then this subscription may be worth it to you. The subscription holds a value that doesn't always monetarily meet its cost, but I appreciate the service.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.
