Cat Lady Box is a monthly subscription box for cat ladies (or anyone who is crazy about cats)! The $34.99 per month Cat Lady Box has 2-3 cat-themed items – wearables, items for the home, books, etc., while the $39.99 per month Crazy Cat Lady Box contains everything from the Cat Lady Box plus a few items just for cats.

This is a review of the Crazy Cat Lady Box.

First Impressions

As soon as the box arrives, you know your cat-loving heart is in for a good time. Everything arrives in a brown cardboard box with a black cat silhouette on it. Once you open it up, you can expect to find anything from cat-themed jewelry, clothes, home decor, and more. If you subscribe to the Crazy Cat Lady box, you'll also get a few treats for your furbaby, too.

This box does come with an info sheet, and each month they feature custom artwork. This month's artist was Eva Farb.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The January Crazy Cat Lady Box

First, let's meet the cat that will be helping me to review this box. If you've been reading my MSA reviews for a while, you may remember my old cat, Duchess. Duchess is no longer here with me, and after a few months, I felt ready to get another cat companion. Meet Sir Goose! I adopted him when he was one month and twenty-two days old, and he was 2.2 pounds. Now he is a year old and he loves toys—I have yet to find a toy he won't play with.

Goose turns two in April, and he weighs in at thirteen pounds! He's not overweight though, per his vet- he is just a proportionally big boy.

Be Pawesome Sweatshirt - Listed Value $25.99

The sweatshirt I got in my very first Cat Lady Box in October 2021 is still to this day my favorite apparel item I've received from this box (though that cat hair couture long sleeve is a close runner up), so I had high hopes for this "wake up and be pawesome" sweatshirt. My hopes may have been a little too high- while it's the same size as the black cat sweatshirt from October 2021, this doesn't fit the same way. It doesn't have the same amount of stretch, so it's a little bit tighter in my midsection than what I normally reach for. I really like how cheerful the pink and orange colors are on the white fabric though. Normally I shy away from the color white, but I have been trying to embrace it lately since I'm getting married this year!

Purrfect Morning Mug - Listed Value $18.99

How cute is this mug with the rising sun in the shape of a cat? I love that the mug has a yellow inner lining that matches the cheerful sun- I'm not a morning person, but a hot cup of caffeine housed in a cat-themed mug can definitely make them a little easier.

Cat Notebooks - Listed Value $11.99

This set of three notebooks is great if you like to journal or use lists. to keep track of things. My favorite is the one with a hodgepodge of different cats and cat sayings like "time spent with cats is never wasted."

Paw Pom Beanie Catnip Toy - Listed Value $5.99

This cute catnip-filled toy is in the shape of a beanie with a little pom right at the top. It's perfect for batting. I would know- once I was done photographing it Goose immediately batted it under my bed and then scurried after it. I plan on moving this year, and I expect to find a cat toy graveyard when my bed frame is finally lifted.

Dandy Lion Catnip Toy - Listed Value $4.99

This little lion has a long tail that makes this toy perfect for dangling in front of Goose for a game of tug of war. I wasn't able to get a picture of this little guy with Goose either this month, but I can tell you that he kept Goose company in his cat carrier on a short road trip we took the other weekend. Goose has decided he will over-groom (and therefore harm himself) if left alone, so when I went to meet my fiancé at the halfway point between the base he's stationed at and where I live, Goose came along this time.

Is it just me, or does Goose have a future as a model for pet-friendly hotels?

Key Takeaways

I love my Cat Lady Box Subscription, and I thought the January box was solid. While the sweatshirt wasn't a perfect fit, I appreciate the cohesive theme, how the sweatshirt matched the mug, and how they both had fun colors. The journals are a great inclusion for a January box when many people like to set new goals and add more mindfulness to their routines, and I love that it's three skinny journals that you can use for different purposes rather than one thicker one. If you have cats and/or like cat-themed things, I recommend checking this subscription box out. If you're looking for fun cat-themed items you can enjoy around your home and share with your feline friend, you're going to see a lot more value in this box than someone who is going strictly off of listed values (or who desires brand name products in a box).

Other Things You Should Know

Where does the Cat Lady Box ship to? The US (free to the lower 48, an additional fee for Alaska or Hawaii), the UK, and Canada.

Do I have to have a cat to enjoy this subscription? Nope! If you love cats but don't have one of your own, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the fun- you can subscribe to the Cat Lady Box, which will come with the same products as the Crazy Cat Lady Box sans the cat toys.

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? No, sign up before the end of January to receive the February box.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

This box has gone downhill for me over the past 2 years. They are using more cheap merchandise from China. The t shirts have fit issues fairly often. The t shirt designs have gotten more cheesy, with a lot of sayings that I find juvenile. $40 is a lot for a box. I think the quality isn’t there as much anymore. Maybe inflation has made it harder for them to get quality merch and still make a profit. I really wanted to keep supporting a small business, but I felt disappointed more and more. Their customer service is responsive.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who experienced a weird fit with the sweatshirt! Since their sizing is usually pretty generous, I size down for my subscription. This time, I could barely get the sweatshirt over my head and I definitely noticed that there was no stretch to the material. Their customer service team is so fabulous though! And they sent me a new one when I emailed them about it. I will say that the replacement one, even though it is TWO sizes up from the original one, still has the weird non-stretch. So I think it’s just an oddly sewn garment. At least I can wear the replacement one, and I love pink and orange together, so I’m happy to have it. When I do my survey this month, I’m going to mention that I think the sizing was just weird with this shirt, and to maybe not use that vendor again.

The mug was definitely my favorite item this month. The yellow is so cheerful!
