Overt Skincare The Renewer, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $49

The first item you'll receive is one of two serums from Overt Skincare. Both are gorgeous, quality, and seemingly magical—but they do have some slight differences in their function. I'll use the wording on the Love Goodly info card to describe this Renewer serum: it's a "revolutionary plant-derived Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) Serum that revives and rebuilds tired skin." Sign me up! This liquidy serum is effectively scentless, though it does have a subtle fresh aroma to its ingredients, and it's great for all types of skin including sensitive skin.
Some subscribers may receive The Brightener, $39, instead (see photo below).
The Brightener serum is filled with antioxidants for a radiant complexion and organic hydraulic acid to help skin absorb and retain moisture, which can lead to smoother skin. Like the above, this serum is suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin and has only a faint, fresh scent.
Z Skin Simply Organic Sunblock, 2 fl oz – Retail Value $21

Sunscreen! For fall! Megan would be thrilled. I too love that Love Goodly is promoting year-round sun protection, however it may not be as happy-shiny as it seems. Some of you lovely folks pointed out to me back in March that Z Skin products tend to have this beautiful list of natural ingredients...but none are proven to contain SPF or skin cancer preventative properties (thanks especially to Lynn for pointing these specifics out). Love Goodly then clarified that some of the ingredients in the Z Skin lotion they included back then had natural sun protection, but that they don't all necessarily protect from UVA/UVB rays. A notable difference is that this month's lotion does contain zinc on its ingredients list. Bottom line is that I don't think I'll be relying on Z Skin to fully protect me from summer sun, but for wintertime, this organic skincare is a great daily face moisturizer that offers a light layer of protection year-round. The citronella it contains is prevalent in the scent, which might not be everyone's preference, but I don't mind it one bit. I'll for sure be using this moisturizer this season!
Scentuals Balance Aromatherapy Roll-On, 9ml – Retail Value $16

There was a time when I felt I had more essential oil roll-ons than I knew what to do with. I suppose that changed slowly over time, because when I pulled this aromatherapy roll-on out of my Love Goodly box I felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me. This one contains a blend of sweet orange, grapefruit, cypress, ylang ylang, rosewood, and neroli oils for balance. It feels like just what I need for this season. In the past I've found that I don't love ylang ylang oil blends because its very specific floral scent outshines anything else it's blended with, but that's not the case here. It's detectable, but so are the citrus notes and the deeper, more complex aromas. It's a pleasant, energetic blend that brings some light to the gloomy days of late fall for me.
Bars Over Bottles Hydrate & Repair Hair Mask, 1.6 oz – Listed Value $13.95

I love the increase in shampoo and conditioner bars that I've seen come through subscription box in the past year, many of which are thanks to Love Goodly! The plastic-free and chemical-free approach to hair care is such a huge win on so many levels, but it requires willingness to make a change in one's personal health routine, so getting the chance to try it though this subscription was a great opportunity for me. And now they're taking it to the next level by sending a hair mask bar, which I didn't even know existed! After washing your hair in the shower, you divide your hair into multiple sections and massage the entire length of the strands with your hands (lathered with this mask). You let it sit for 3 minutes, then rinse out and condition. That sounds simple enough! I am utterly enchanted by the bright, almost fruity-and-floral scent of this bar, but I'm going to save it to gift to a friend whose hair texture is more conducive to the deep conditioning I imagine this mask will provide.
Gitanne Skincare Luminex Plumping Eye Serum, 7 ml – Retail Value $38

This full-size eye serum is petite but powerful. In its small jar is a fresh, floral gel that's practically clear and very intriguing. It's so light I can barely feel it on my fingertips, but it offers a smooth, cooling sensation as I gently spread it under my eyes. I was concerned that the gel formula would flake when it dried, but there was no such nonsense—which, of course, for a high-end product like this is how it should be! As far as the firming and plumping qualities, I was concerned that there might be some prickling sensation in the way that lip plumbers work (also not certain I wanted plump under-eyes!), but it's not that at all; rather, there are ingredients like gotu kola and acai extracts and sea minerals that reduce fine lines and boost collagen. What a treat!
Verdict
Providing us with some skin heroes, beautiful scents, and an eco-friendly hair helper, Love Goodly is rounding out the year strong. At the core of this subscription are values that are non-negotiable in beauty products to me, and the quality skincare items they have sent here are such a great representation of why this box is so great. It's hard to pick a favorite this month, but I'm loving the scents of the hair mask and roll-on, and the powerhouse of healing ingredients in the face and eye serums. I can't wait to see what next year holds!

That breaks down to $9.79 per item, which feels like an epic deal for some of these items. Everything in this month's box retails at a minimum of $13.95, so that means a legit discount on every single item—but especially the serums, which retail around $40.
