First Impressions

This month's theme is called "The Friendliest Ghost" and is based on the beloved 1995 children’s movie Casper.

A Haunting Good Time!

Unfinished Business Pillow Spray - Retail Value $12.99

I’m a big fan of pillow sprays so I was excited to receive this. I immediately ran over to my bed and started spritzing everything! If you want to be enveloped in a relaxing cloud of scent but aren't a fan of the traditional lavender pillow spray, try this one. It has a warm, rich scent that is very comforting.

According to Fortune Cookie Soap (FCS for short), the scent contains:

Warm notes of fresh cracked almonds, surrounded by cozy cashmere and sweet vanilla.”

Scream Or Sugar Solid Sugar Scrub - Retail Value $12.99

This time of year, a sugar scrub is a great idea. It really helps remove dead skin that builds up and leaves us looking dull. This is my first time using a solid sugar scrub and I’m very happy with it. I like that it gently exfoliates without being messy. And can I mention how good it smells? It’s like autumn has given me a big, warm hug!

According to the FCS, the scent is:

“An eerie blend of fresh vanilla cream, hauntingly delicious marshmallows, and unearthly pumpkin topped with cinnamon and clove.”

Can I Keep You? Argan Hair Perfume - Retail Value $13.99

This argan oil hair perfume is the full size item in this month’s box. I’ve received mini hair oils from FCS in the past, but this is the first one (that I can remember) that’s designed to be a hair perfume. The fact that it contains argan oil, though, means that it’s also great for moisturizing your hair and works well to tame fly-aways!

FCS advises, “Best used on wet hair. Adds fragrance and luster to freshly washed hair, protects when used before heat tools and adds extra shine!”

The fragrance is mild but lovely. According to FCS, the scent is:

“Subtle notes of sweet pear, tart fruit and musky fig dance around crisp ozone, driftwood and salty ocean air.”

Get A Grave! Hand And Body Lotion - Retail Value $7.99

This lotion is definitely my favorite item in the box.  I’m wearing it right now, in fact. And I’ll admit to having a shopping cart on Fortune Cookie Soap’s site, with several containers of it, ready to buy. Fair warning, the scent is very strong, but it does dissipate over time. I’m totally happy with the strong scent, though, because it’s divine. It’s a very earthy, slightly masculine scent. Really great for fall, and a nice departure from the rest of the scents in the box.

I’d like to add that the formula is amazing.  It’s not as thick as their whipped cream, but it’s not thin, either.  It’s just right for everyday use, soaks in quickly but leaves skin feeling moisturized.

According to FCS, the scent is:

"…bright, juicy nectarine notes intertwine with delicate, powdery lotus blooms and creamy vanilla notes of fresh bergamot and orange peel, sliced apple, ground pepper and light jasmine intertwine with warm patchouli, sweet musk and exotic woody notes.”

Guess Again, Bonebag! - Sticker - Retail Value $0.99

Every month, FCS makes around 4 stickers. They put one in each box they send out. The sticker I received this month says, “Guess Again, Bonebag!” It’s a great line from the movie and is portrayed in a cute way.

To buy the full set of 4 different stickers, the cost is $3.99. All are designed by FCS and graphics and quotes are all worthy of a place in your sticker collection.

The Verdict

I’m a firm believer that we all need things, however small, to look forward to. Subscription boxes are my monthly gifts to myself. I’ve always looked forward to breaking into each new box. This is especially true of Fortune Cookie Soap’s subscription; it continues to impress me.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No, but if you want a box, sign up quickly because there is a waiting list. Once you’re on the waiting list, you’ll be contacted when there is a spot open, and you’ll be given 24 hours to claim your spot. However, all of these items shown above, and many, many more full-size items from the “The Friendliest Ghost” collection are available for sale now on the Fortune Cookie Soap website.

Value Breakdown: The box costs $16.95 (including shipping), which means each of the 5 items (including the sticker) cost an average of approximately $3.39 each. Plus, with every box, you’ll be mailed a code for $10 off any order of $25 or more to be used on any items in their vast store. That makes this box an incredibly good deal.
