First Impressions

It looks like our packaging got a makeover- instead of the hot pink bubble mailer I had come to expect everything came in this multi-colored pink box, with the info sheet neatly tucked on top. You can always expect to receive items from trendy, indie, and up-and-coming brands, and each box also will usually include a makeup palette.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The Box

BeBella Cosmetics Lotus Love Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $12

I've received a BeBella cosmetics palette from TBB before, and this brand is pretty great. It's affordable, and they make fun shades and beautiful glitter pigments that are not what you typically see. My palette did come with two of the shades a little bit broken, but since they were the pressed glitter shades it was easy to just press down on the pan and pack the glitter back down. For me, the glitters are the stars of this palette because I love everything that sparkles, but the mattes performed really well- they were buttery, pigmented instead of patchy, and easy to blend out.

theBalm Batter Up Eyeshadow Stick in Outfield - Retail Value $17

I haven't gotten a theBalm product in a while- remember when it felt like a mini eyeshadow or blush was coming in every other Birchbox? I like this eyeshadow stick because the shade compliments the BeBella palette really well due to the palette not having a black shade. Outfield is a deep brown, almost black shade with gold flecks, and the texture of this shadow stick is very creamy- it's perfect for smudging out along my lower lash line, and with enough blending, you could sheer it out enough to wear it all over your eyelid.

Wander Beauty Frame Your Face Precise Brow Gel in Clear, 0.20 oz - Retail Value $22

I am a fan of tinted brow gels way more than I am clear ones, but I understand that clear is a universal shade in a subscription box. This gave my eyebrows good hold without being crunchy or too stiff, and I like how the brush made it easy to shape the little hairs at the end of my brow arch that are the most unruly.

Here I am wearing the brow gel, the shades Marvelous, Fantasy, and Flowerbomb from the eyeshadow palette, and the shadow stick from theBalm smudged along my lash line.

Spongellé Salted Rose Mani Pedi Treatment Set - Retail Value $18

Oh, it's been a while since I've received a Spongellé in a subscription box! This buffing sponge is infused with peppermint and sea kelp, and one side is much softer than the other. That's on purpose- the soft side cleanses, the rougher side exfoliates. You can use this rose-scented sponge on your hands, but it's much more suited to the heels of my feet to keep them from getting too rough. I like that this box comes with two sponges- each one should be good for at least seven washes.

Symbiosis London Prestige Invigorating & Resurfacing Eye Contour, 15 mL - Estimated Value $125

I'm a skeptical cookie when eye creams retail for this much, and while this one was nice, it didn't do anything crazy for me to justify the high price tag. It's formulated with retinol, prebiotics, alpha-glucan, and shea butter, and it's hydrating without being heavy. Since I'm 28, I view retinol eye creams as a step used to prevent the formation of crows feet rather than to try to treat them, and I think this would work well enough for that. One thing to note is that based on the online listing, it looks like the packaging for this eye cream is different than what was sent in the box (a pump vs a squeeze tube), but it contains the same amount of product.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

Value Breakdown:

  • BeBella: $12
  • theBalm: $17
  • Wander Beauty: $22
  • Spongellé: $18
  • Symbiosis London : $125

The total value of this box is $194, which is more than four times the cost of the box.

Key Takeaways

I can always count on Tribe Beauty Box to send me an eyeshadow palette with fun colors- this is definitely the subscription box for those who love playing with makeup and being adventurous in their looks. I thought theBalm shadow stick and Wander Beauty brow gel were good pairings that worked cohesively with the palette, and I was really happy to see Spongellé pop up on my doorstep after a long absence. The eye cream value is higher than what I would personally spend, but hey- you do you, Symbiosis London. Overall, I think this was a solid box.
