Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. When you sign up, you take an in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and your pricing preferences. After choosing when you’d like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Fix may be completely different.

First Impressions

Let's take a look at this month's selections, shall we?

What's Inside This Month's Fix

Vanessa Knit Midi Dress by Nine Britton, Size 3x — Retail Value $54

First of the stylings is this simple, yet sexy little black dress by Nine Britton. The material is soft and ultra stretchy. This piece has ruching at the midsection for an added detail, as well as the foxy slit in the leg. I opted to wear this with my regular black bra which you can partially see, so sorry for that, yinz. I wanted to do a more sporty, fun styling for this dress rather than going the ultra vamp route. I paired this piece with crystal stoned flower power earrings made by moi as well as zebra print platform Crocs. I feel like this is a perfect late summer ensemble. I would wear this out with friends to an outdoor bistro or club alike. Just add a denim or faux leather biker jacket if it gets chilly.

Tie Spot Dress by City Chic, Size 22w-Retail Value $98.00

I love that Jasmine selected this dress for me. It is so cute and flirty! I review a lot of City Chic dresses and this one is definitely up there for me. I love the peek-a-boo cut under the chest on the torso and the tie feature across the chest as well. I was concerned this would fit strangely due to it being a button down, but the elastic back panel ensures this fits just right. Though this is more of a summer or spring dress, I could envision this being worn in fall months with a turtleneck underneath, opaque tights, mid-calf boots, and a faux fur coat for killer pattern clashing. I did some simple, but fun styling with Charlie Girl Anna Nicole earrings and super adorable pink flower platforms from ASOS. I would totally wear this outfit to hang with friends at brunch and catch up!

Fatuma Tie Detail Knit Dress by BB Dakota x Steve Madden, Size 3x, — Listed Value $68.00

I feel like a total ding dong not realizing that this dress should tie in the front, but oh well! I think it still looks precious even with the knot in the back. At first glance, this reminded me of a dress that Cher wore in the movie Clueless. Or maybe a hybrid of a few of the dresses from the movie, but honestly, that makes complete sense since another '90s icon is behind this dress: Steve Madden. What is more mid/late 90s than platform Steve Madden sandals? Of course this dress is giving me major 90s vibes! The color palette on this piece screams fall, but I upped the Cher Horowitz-inspired look with my trusty white Mary Janes and black and white flower power earrings from Rebs Rainbowhaus. I am usually one to think of ways where out of season dresses can work all year, but the grey and burgundy shades in this only speak fall and winter to me. This will look great in cooler months with opaque tights or checkered or polka dot tights for some fun pattern clashing. Top off the look with a beret and a faux leather biker jacket.

Renee Straight Crop Trouser by Liverpool, Size 24w — Retail Value $88.00 (similar found here)

Speaking of Clueless-inspired looks, I feel like these pants scream Cher or even Tai. Plaid prints were so prominent in the movie that I can't help but tether the two together in my mind. I opted to do styling on this that combined both Tai and Cher's ensembles in the scene where they go to cheer Travis on at his skateboarding competition. These pants are so soft with loads of stretch-- one can easily sit in them cross legged on the ground like Cher did in that scene. I wanted to bring out the warm tones in the pants with a mushroom print short sleeved sweater of mine and my summer go-to-- Torrid jellies! This outfit would be great for late summer/early fall. The pants will also look fantastic paired with a black pussybow blouse and pointy toe flat mules or heels, if you're in the mood, for a fantastic work look.

Maggy London Deepa Long Sleeve Fitted Dress, Size 22w  — Retail Value $98.00

I won't lie to you all, I thought this dress wasn't going to fit in a million years. The fabric didn't seem to offer much stretch, so I was scared it would encase me like a sausage. Surprisingly, this piece fit incredibly well. I am shocked to also like the tie at the waist details on this one, too. If I were still in the office, I would want to wear this powerful, statement piece. It is so bold, yet so chic. I opted to pair this dress with geometric earrings and my white Mary Janes. Imagine how amazing this will look in cooler weather with fishnets or black tights, white Mod booties, and a long faux leather and fur trimmed trench coat.

The Verdict

This month's Stitch Fix was one of my favorites in some time. Jasmine really nailed it with Liverpool trousers-- they fit like a dream. And that City Chic dress-- so cute! I actually loved every single piece she selected for me. I am excited to work with Jasmine again; I feel like she is very detail-oriented and understands what appeals to me. I truly can't emphasize how important it is to provide feedback one each Fix to your Stitch Fix stylist. Not only do I provide direct feedback, but I also "bookmark" or list pieces as favorites on the site for further direction.

I know I am being redundant in saying this, but I also can't encourage enough that you provide your Pinterest and Instagram. These will be great assets to your stylist; you are providing visuals on your style, body shape, and how and what you prefer to adorn yourself. Providing all this information makes it easier for your stylist to be able to curate items for your dream Fix. Another plus is that you have the ability to personally select pieces for your Stitch Fix as well! The site gives you roughly a dozen items with you in mind that you can select as well for your box.  This is a wonderful option if you are a self proclaimed shopping fiend like myself. Were you also aware that Stitch Fix now allows you to shop on their site for clothing items, accessories, foundation garments, and also shoes without getting a monthly Stitch Fix sent to you? This is ideal if you aren't interested in getting a monthly Fix. You can check out their site and buy their in-house brands outright! With all these ways to enjoy Stitch Fix, you simply cannot lose!

Can you still get these pieces if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This personal styling service has a $20 styling fee with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $406. The cost of each item is listed alongside it, above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $284.50 for the whole box. Ultimately, that’s about a 31% discount!
