First Impressions

Everything arrived in our regular black box with a card detailing the items included.

Now, on to the items!

LORAC PRO Palette Meraki Artist Edition - Retail Value $49

Wow, that is a lot of colors to choose from. And with the neutral color story, I can see how this palette would be a go-to for both pros and beauty enthusiasts alike. There is a lot to get through here, so just a few notes before we take a peek at the swatches! This palette features alternating horizontal rows between matte and shimmering/metallic shades. Vertically, the shades are grouped into similar colors. So you can easily pick a vertical row and create a complete eye look using those shades, or mix and match a completely custom look. The other big thing here is that the shimmers/metallics were so much smoother and more pigmented than the mattes. Sure, the majority of the matte shadows smoke out beautifully with a brush, but if you are someone who likes a swatch to punch you in the face, these aren't going to do that. I still think the performance was great and this palette is a solid addition to any vanity.

Patrick Ta Beauty Major Volume Mascara, 9 g - Retail Value $29

This mascara could have been amazing. The brush is great and I thought I liked the formula. When I first applied it, I was impressed with the dark color, nice lift, and decent curl. It seemed to define my lashes really well! Too bad it literally slid off of my lashes within the first few hours, leaving me with dark circles under my eyes. Granted, it has been super hot and humid here this week. But I can't trust this one to stay put!

Dominique Cosmetics Silk Tone Cream Blush in 'Soft Pink'- 5 g - Retail Value $22

What a stunning pink! I was super excited about this the moment I cracked open the compact. I used to have a cream highlighter from this same brand and it was one of my favorites! This blush is way up there, too. It is creamy, sheer, and provides a really cute and natural flush without maximizing my pores or making me look sweaty. It is also a less messy version of my favorites that even arrives with its own mirror. On the go, this is hard to beat!

KORRES Santorini Grape Poreless Skin Cream- 40 mL - Retail Value $39

I was gifted the oil from this same line last year and really actually hated it. It has this bug spray smell and just wouldn't absorb, leaving me feeling greasy. While this cream absorbs quite beautifully, it still has a softer version of that weird scent. But, I must admit, I liked this formula and product a lot! I am not exactly the target consumer (it is suggested for oily, combination + sensitive skin) but I tend to use lighter moisturizers in the summer and I have been having weird cheek breakouts recently. The ingredient list here is pretty great! It has gentle exfoliation from lactic acid and salicylic acid, LOTS of antioxidants (hello, grape extract, calendula, and vitamin E), and lightweight moisturizers that leave my skin soft and supple. I really loved this cream.

Sandbar Beauty Shadow Light Eyeshadow Primer, 4 mL - Retail Value $28

Though I likely won't use this often, an eyeshadow primer was an excellent addition to a box with such a massive eyeshadow palette. Though this formula looks white, it applies nearly clear and leaves a finish that is more powdery than sticky. It did help the matte shadows apply with a little more pigment and it seemed to increase longevity.

Shadow MOON Reusable Shadow Shield - Retail Value $15

Again, this is another great piece for this box. Who hasn't applied a shadow and experienced the annoying powdery fallout that lands all over blushed cheeks? Avoid this entirely with this silicone shield. It is very easy to hold this under the eye area and allow it to capture all that dust.

Verdict

This was a darn good BoxyCharm Premium box. Something about a giant palette really makes an impression, but I think the cream and the blush were actually my favorite things inside! I also didn't know how much I needed a shadow shield until now. Genius! The total value here is $182, which is good for a $39.99 box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Agree that this was a bangin’ box! The Lorac palette, while definitely a basic b****, is lovely and highly wearable, I think, for most people. It really defines what a hero item should be. The Shadow Moon is pretty exciting IMHO, too. It’s a simple concept that just works well. 2022 has been a good year for Boxy.
