Bespoke Post is a monthly membership club that delivers high-quality lifestyle products from up-and-coming brands. It’s voted as one of the best men’s subscription boxes of 2021 by our readers and it’s a great box for women and couples as well.

When you sign up, there’s a quiz to determine your preferences and interests, then you’re matched with a new themed box every month. For $49 per month, each box promises at least $70 in retail value with items ranging from outdoor gear, barware, home, and kitchen goods, clothing, and more.

Unlike most subscription boxes, you get to preview your Bespoke Post box before it ships and you can easily swap for a different box or skip the month for no charge. You only pay for the months that interest you.

This is a review of the "Sliced" box.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

Bespoke Post always has a good presentation. Their boxes are instantly recognizable. I like that they have the perfect box or bag for any item you order. The box typically comes with a card to let you know what's inside, as well as a little bit about each item. This time they just go over how to take care of a wooden cutting board. There was an additional card about the AK Studio Design/Wren board.

Inside the Bespoke Post "Sliced" Box

AK Studio Designs BA/CA Board - Estimated Price $80

BA/CA: "bring anywhere/cut anything." While I wouldn't say that name is exactly true, I must say I was very impressed with this tiny but mighty cutting board that integrates a knife inside of it. I think it is a simply brilliant idea and I like the thoughtful design. The board measures 7-1/2" by 10" and is only 3/4 inch thick. It weighs a total of 1.44 pounds. The maple board has a small channel around the edge of the surface to help with some spillage. There is a hole drilled though it in case you want to hang it from a cord or hook. There is also a hole in the bottom edge of the board to drain any water that gets in knife compartment.

The main feature is the incorporated knife. Rather than having to bring a separate knife, one is stored inside the board. Not only that, but it's a plus to have the knife in a safe place. I know that I've cut my hand rooting around for a knife in my camping box. The handle of the knife forms one of the corners and is held in place with a small magnet. The magnet holds the knife well enough, but they've included a large, orange silicone band that provides extra safety. The band could also be used to hold thin items such as recipe cards. The knife itself is quite hefty. The entire thing measures just over 9 inches. The stainless steel blade is 5 inches and – like everything these days – includes a bottle opener. I like that it's a full size, serious knife; not something that was compromised to fit inside the board. It looks a little awkward because it's designed to sort of "lock" into the board, but it cuts wonderfully. Overall, this is a great, smart, useful item. I got this specifically for camping and I can't wait to take it out.

Note: I believe this is only available through Bespoke Post at this time. The AK Studio Designs website says the board can be pre-ordered for $100 with delivery expected Fall 2022. That price also includes a sharpening stone, oil, and cloth. So I estimated the price without those things at $80. That is completely a guess.

Verdict

I was very pleased with "Sliced." It was exactly what I was expecting: a solid idea with solid execution. I can already picture myself serving up some good eats at the campsite. I know my buds are going take the time to check out this board and how it's designed. Normally I have a few small suggestions, but I honestly don't have any this time. Maybe having the juice channel on both sides? Maybe. In addition to how cool the item is, it's worth it to point out that the board was first available and currently exclusive to Bespoke Post. From what I can tell, it's not for sale anywhere else. So that is one more reason to have a subscription with Bespoke Post.

Let's Talk About Value

I estimated this box at $80. I took the pre-order amount of $100, which includes attentional items, and estimated lower, since we don't get those items via this subscription. It is hard to tell what the value is for sure, but I believe it will outweigh the price considerably. I think $80 is a lot for a small cutting board, but again it's well designed and well executed. I was very happy to snag one of these via Bespoke Post for the $53 subscription cost.

Have you used the knife yet? Curious to see how well it cuts, I’m looking for a new prep knife and I like this combo with the cutting board.

I was happy with it. It’s not better than a nice kitchen knife, but it’s a good compromise to always have it with your cutting board. Thanks for commenting.
