The Beauty Products

Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer by Elizabeth Mott - Retail Value $30

I'm not a makeup person. Most days, I wake up, throw my hair in a bun, put on a tiny bit of mascara, and a little darkener on my eyebrows and I'm out the door. I rarely put anything on my face, and when I do it is usually a pretty special occasion. But every now and then when I do, I always make sure I have bronzer nearby to add a little bit of color to my face. So even though I don't use it often, I was pretty happy to see this matte bronzer in the Beachly Beauty box. According to the Elizabeth Mott website, this particular bronzer comes in two shades that are both "flattering on all skin undertones". Honestly, I have no idea if that is true or not, but I will say that I was pleasantly surprised how nicely this bronzer blended into my skin and added a touch of color. I've always felt makeup should be more personalized for everyone's individual skin color and needs, so the fact that this actually worked for me as the description said it would, was a huge win in my book.

Beach Mist after Sun Spray by The Lyfestyle Co. - Retail Value $42

This is the perfect spray for after you've been out a little bit too long in the sun. Which honestly happens to me more than I'd care to admit. Growing up in Florida we all had our little "hacks" for keeping our tan as long as possible or making sure we didn't peel after getting sunburned (FYI – damp black tea bags work wonders!), but most of it always came down to keeping the skin moisturized. This Beach Mist works along the same premise and it felt great putting it on my shoulders after a day out by the pool. It is not sticky like aloe can get, however, there is aloe in the ingredients. Others include Dead Sea salt, Vitamin C, cucumber, chamomile, lavender oil, and peppermint oil. I was pretty pleased how this smelled as well. It's a very light scent and not overwhelming at all, just enough to give you that fresh "just back from the beach" scent!

3-pack Sun Bum SPF 30 Lip Balm - Retail Value $10

The Summer Beachly Beauty box also included a 3-pack of Sun Bum lip balm. I was ecstatic to see this as Sun Bum is my go-to sunscreen already. (I've got five big spray bottles, two face sticks, and three lip balms of Sun Bum sitting in my mud room!) I started using them a couple years ago when I found out that they were reef-safe and cruelty free, and I've been using them ever since. Reef safe means it does not have chemicals, such as oxybenzone and octinoxate, which harm the plants and animals that call the oceans, lakes, and rivers home. In fact, Hawaii has actually banned any sunscreens that are not reef safe in an effort to preserve and protect its environment.

The 3-pack comes with coconut, banana, and watermelon flavors and all of them are great flavors, although I think I prefer the watermelon over the other two. The lip balm goes on extremely smoothly and it leaves your lips with a silky after touch. Plus the 30 SPF will leave your lips moisturized rather than burned!

Cucumber Organic Classic Face Sunscreen SPF 30 by COOLA - Retail Value $32

Another reef-friendly product! Yes! This face sunscreen is 70% organic and boasts "farm-to-face" ingredients and is also cruelty free, gluten free, and vegan. It is also my sweet spot sunscreen level (30 SPF), which is just enough to for my face to get some color, but not get burned. Ingredients include aloe, prickly pear extract, raspberry seed oil, and orange peel oil (among others). I think the biggest thing for me was that the Coola face sunscreen was extremely lightweight. Anytime I'm putting something on my face, I want to make sure it goes on easily and isn't going to clog my pores. Too often, I feel like I'm putting on a glob of vaseline when using sunscreens, but this one felt different. It rubbed in extremely easily, disappeared into my skin quickly, and didn't have an overwhelming "sunscreen" scent. I honestly absolutely loved it!

Verdict

This was my first time reviewing the Beachly Beauty box and I can't believe the bang for your buck you get with this box. I also love that they didn't just throw in a bunch of beachy products that looked cute, but in reality were actually really harmful to the beaches and oceans we all love. Knowing they made mindful choices made this box a huge hit for me. Plus the products were fantastic and great quality. I would highly recommend this box for anyone looking to add some great items to their beauty collection.

In a nutshell? I'm a bit of a walking contradiction!

I love traveling the world and stepping out of my comfort zone, but I can also be a complete introvert and will be totally happy hanging out at home with my family for days on end. I enjoy working out and going for runs or HIIT classes at the gym, but I also have no problem binging on a bag of cheetos and a glass of wine (which pairs surprisingly well together!). I love how I look dressed up and ready to hit the town, but am much more comfortable in a pair of sweats while watching The Mandolorian with my husband and two little boys. I love trying exotic foods and the different spices and textures that come with it, but my all-time-favorite meal is a juicy cheeseburger with fries.

So, maybe I should just call myself well-rounded!? Whatever it is, I keep an open mind about everything and am always on the hunt for a new and exciting adventure!

You won’t get this box! There should be a bold disclaimer that says every new subscriber get a different box, even though Beachly advertises it like you will. They give you a box of past products. Then your second box aligns with what they advertise. I know this cause I went through it and their CS was quite rude with me. Also, this was established last review of theirs.

I’m pretty sure that is advertised. I remember seeing that when I signed up last year. I got their seasonal welcome box for my first month, then the monthly boxes as they came out.

Hi Kelly – indeed, a great selection of products this month. Before you throw chemical sunscreens under the bus, note that the Coola sunscreen is exactly that. That’s why you found it lightweight, non clogging, and easy to disappear. Unlike the reef-safe sunscreens (called mineral or barrier sunscreens) that are heavy, sit on your face with whitish or purplish overtones, clog, and don’t rub in or disappear. Yes, Beachly did a great job, as you said, in selecting good products and not sending you a heavy, clogging, white-cast sunscreen.

Hi Dea! Thanks so much for reading and commenting! So, this particular Coola sunscreen is reef-safe, yay! Reef-safe just means it does not have the particular chemicals that cause harm to oceans and reefs, however, they can still have additional chemicals in them. Similarly, the Sun Bum products have a line that is all mineral as well as the original line which contains chemicals but not the nasty ones for waters. I have no problem with chemicals when used in the right situation, (I personally use the original Sun Bum line for my kids and I) but as I grew up on the coast and have seen first hand what a lot of our products have done to the oceans, I’m all about promoting safe ones for the environment! I can see how the description of reef-safe I gave could be confusing though, so I’ll make sure to update it in the article to clarify that it’s just those chemicals. Thanks again for commenting!
