We've got spoilers for the Summer 2022 NewBeauty TestTube!

Our forum readers have been talking about the new--and higher--price of the TestTube subscription. The price jumped from $38.90 bi-monthly to $59 per quarter (and $200.60 a year, which comes out to $50.15 per Tube). The box is now quarterly, not bi-monthly.

A customer service rep for the brand gave some unconfirmed insight, writing that the recent price increase was so that "future TestTubes will have larger-size products and more product overall to maximize value for our subscribers." (Again, that is unconfirmed officially.)

So what does the new Test Tube look like?

The brand now promises a $350 value in every Tube (formerly $200+), and the Summer 2022 TestTube will include the following eight full-size products:

  1. Cocofloss Cara Cara Orange or Pure Strawberry, Full Size, $9
  2. Gloss Moderne Clean Luxury Hair Masque, Full Size, $55
  3. MoxieLash Magnetic Essentials Kit Volume 1, Full Size, $89
  4. Sonage Collagen Boosting Serum, Full Size, $48
  5. Tatcha The Silk Canvas, Full Size, $52
  6. Unite 7SECONDS Detangler, Full Size, $33
  7. Vitabrid C12 FACE Brightening, Full Size, $68
  8. Whish Lip Balm With Bakuchiol, Full Size, $24

NewBeauty estimates that this TestTube retails for $378,  but subscribers will get it home for $59.

What happened to MSA? Why did you stop spoiling and reviewing TestTube?

Does anyone know what’s going on with the fall box? I’ve tried to contact them multiple times, and I’m not getting any reply. I understand if they are having supply issues and are waiting to fulfill orders, but it would be nice to get a heads up.

So, I have asked multiple times about how you are honoring the 6 boxes from last years annuals. Despite what you say here about CS answering all questions, they will not answer this one. I have not gotten 6 new boxes, and you haven’t been transparent about it. What are you going to do about this, TTB?

Shannon

Hey TestTube Customer Service-

How about “making things right” for me? I bought a package of 6 boxes and received 5. I have only received dismissive response emails stating that no more boxes are coming without explanation.

Anyone else in this situation? I purchased the 6 box package in November 2021. I’m DISAPPOINTED because this was one of my favorite beauty boxes.

Jody E

I got my box a couple of days ago in NC. Hope your’s is on the way.

Be careful of subscribing to this box. I just received the summer 2022 box (again) instead of the fall box I was supposed to be getting. FYI: it is 08/23/2022, and this is a repeat box from Summer 2022. When I began this subscription, I also received a repeat box from the previous two-monthly subscription. This makes two repeats in less than 12 months. I’m not impressed at all(especially since the new swap site isn’t active yet).

I think they must be shuttered now because when you click on their CS email it goes to a blank ‘NOT FOUND’ page. They ripped me off badly with one of their ‘Talk Shop Live’ promos in March. I paid $155 for 6 bi-monthly boxes and only got one. They pulled a bait and switch by changing it to ‘seasonal’ so you get 4 boxes instead. Then I got 1 summer box late, and the products were crappy and not worth the new price. When you pay in advance and it goes past 60 days most credit card companies won’t allow you to dispute the charge. That’s how this fly-by-night company gets away with it. Still no word on the fall box. You get it when you get it. No consistency. I probably won’t get it at all. Oddly enough they called me out of the blue in early August to ‘confirm my mailing address.’ When I complained about my experience the guy shut me down and hung up. It makes me wonder what the real purpose of the call was, since they have no interest in customer feedback. They dish out a lot of abuse and lies instead.

Melissa ~ ‘Maybe they don’t accept emails???’ That’s their recommended choice of communication. Nothing I mentioned was ‘speculation.’ It has been my experience. Yeah their fall ‘spoilers’ are finally posted and they’ll take you money, but good luck after that. My guess is you haven’t had any experience with them, or work for them. Thats the only speculation I’ve made. I don’t see much from anyone else on this site, unless you can point it out. I’d be happy to see what YOU are talking about. *Still waiting for the fall box….

Melissa

What are you talking about? They aren’t “shuttered.” Their webpage is active, fall spoilers are listed, and I was able to log into my account with no problem. Maybe they don’t accept emails anymore because they want you to use their chat bot.

The amount of unchecked speculation that happens on this site is amazing.

Annette

Any spoilers for the Fall box which should ship in August right??

Wow, hard to believe people are complaining about the summer box. Excellent products and at a steal! I’ve even wanted to gift one to a friend. I cannot wait to see what’s in store for the next one. I love this whole program.

The price rises, but the quality and customer service do not rises. It took more than a month from the time I placed my order to I received it. The item in the box is also not worth it. They put products that is going to expire for customers. I received a Vitabrid C12 powder which is going to expire on October 2022. I received my box on July 2022. I contacted The customer service but they refused to take any actions since they think it is not expired.
This is really a poor experience. I subscribed Ipsy, Boxycharm, FFF, etc, this is the worst customer service I have ever met. This is the last time for me to subscribe Testtube.

I had the same thoughts. I received my box in the beginning of June but did notice that my vitabrid C12 was set to expire in October which I feel is crazy. Also the coupon code on some of the cards were already expired. They should try to do better.

I was super excited to get my box today, I have missed my Test Tube subscription. But…some of the coupon codes were already expired, one by almost two months. Not a good look.

I really want to be happy with TT, but then something always goes sideways with the handling of my sub. They procure decent higher end products but that’s not always consistent. The communication with customers tends to be poor, where you have to prod them to get a straight answer, like when they changed the 1 year sub – which equated to 6 boxes, to 4. They knew darn well when they held the promo event in March that by May they were no longer going to be sending bi-monthly boxes. They didn’t bother to contact the people who bought this yearly sub, that they made a change to 4 boxes. We had to find out through word of mouth on this site. Even on this site they’re evasive about how many boxes the event subscribers are going to receive. You have to call them, then the rep doesn’t know what you’re talking about and can’t find the order. Ugh. No mention at all about refunding people or giving them a choice to.

I received the box today and it included 2 dud products that don’t justify the increase in price. The dental floss won’t unwind no matter how hard I tried to pull it out of the plastic casing. The Whish balm is nothing special. Most people have a ton of balms from sub boxes already. The Sonage serum smells like CBD oil or similar to the smell of those face creams that aid sleep. Not something I’ll use during the daytime.
The Gloss Moderne smells like coconut and the detangler smells fruity, which is a bit strong for a leave in, especially if you use hair sprays or other hair products in addition.
The lashes are 2 pairs with one that is shorter in width, almost half the size of the other one. Since all of the lashes in it are the same long length, I imagine they’re not intended for the middle to outer eye, but who knows. The Tatcha primer was practically hermetically sealed for some reason. It’s in a cake form so you use a quarter sized applicator to scrape a bit off the surface. It has a light scent and some beneficial ingredients at least. My skin can’t handle 3 layers of moisturizer, primer and foundation, esp. during the summer, not to mention sunscreen, so I won’t get much use out of it. The Vita C was in a big box that was almost impossible to rip open but it’s in a small .11 oz bottle. It’s in powder form. I haven’t tested it yet to see if it will continually irritate my skin, or only the first few times like most vit.C products. Maybe the potency will be retained due to the small opening the powder comes out of. This item seemed to be the best of the bunch.
It’s worth $25 for sure, but I would balk at $60. Hoping for 8 decent products next time with no under $5 duds.

I am not sure why people said that Test Tube did not notify anyone. I got a mail on May 5th, where they laid out all of the changes. I am actually pretty happy with my box. The detangler was amazing in my hair! The Tatcha is a great primer. That alone is worth it for the box for me. To each their own <3

JC

Did you buy the yearly sub promo from the event they held in March? If so can you share what the explanation was for those who didn’t receive it? Still not sure what to expect with the number of boxes they plan on sending to make up for the canceled bi-monthly boxes.

Jana

The Summer box is great! I’ve already started using the Tatcha (It’s Amazing and perfect for Summer) and the Unite detangler (another winner!)I am ok with the change and won’t miss the “test tubes”. If the items in the future match this box, I will definitely stay on board.

I am actually pretty happy about the box. I tried the Unite Detangler and it was amazing! However for the life of me, I can not understand why the eyelashes were more than the Tatcha? It was nice they have some swabs with the eyelashes that help get the glue off. However they seem really over priced. They are fun lashes but for a $90 price?

I never got an email about the sale in March nor a note about price increase, just email that my card was billed $0.00 for annual (I subscribed last November) & that my tube will be shipped in 3 weeks. Got shipped last Friday. Also want to know how many more boxes I’ll get

In March they had a sale on the annual for $155. I never received any email after which explained the switch to quarterly. I am guessing that means I will receive 3 more boxes. On their webpage they have photos and descriptions for each item. I’m always excited when I see that I will use every item in a box. I’m not very comfortable with false eyelashes but if I’m going to try them it’s going to be a magnetic set. And I love all things Tatcha, especially the silk canvas, but I have 2 of the full sized items already.

What happens if you paid for a yearly subscription? Do we still get 6 boxes?

I think it’s a good move on their part. All products aren’t going to satisfy all people all the time. That’s just a fact of life. I do wish the spoilers included pictures! ☺️

I will not resubscribe. I am not a fan of fake eyelashes and I dont use primer. Little excitement and as always inflated value. Eyelash set retails for less than $40 on Amazon. I dont see this box having a higher value just a higher price.

The past few boxes have been horrible and they were DEFINATELY $39/every other month, I’m surprised I didn’t get any email about the price hike. But honestly this box is worth the money in my opinion& can’t wait to get it! I’ve been wanting to get the tatcha and magnetic lashes for some time but just couldn’t spend the money, add in a couple hair products as well…… I’m in!

I haven’t ordered a Test Tube in awhile, but it looks like the price has gone up. Am I correct in that assumption? I thought the last time I paid for one it was maybe $45 or $49…

The Summer box made me so happy! You knocked it out of the park – and I love getting the magazine with the box! I won’t miss the test tubes. I like having less waste. Can’t wait to try the Gloss Moderne! That Tatcha primer is the best primer I have ever used. The Unite detangler conquered my frizz. I love finding new items I can’t live without!

Rebecca

The boxes are being reduced to quarterly and supposedly will have a higher value than the bi-monthly version. If the products are good, the less frequent shipping doesn’t bother me, I have a ton of stuff and will gladly pay more to not get products I can buy at Walmart (Vagisil).
