Trendmood is an Instagram account that has amassed a 1.5 million+ following for breaking the latest beauty news since 2012. Since the first-ever Trendmood Box was released in mid-December 2019, most boxes released have sold out quickly.

This review is for Trendmood Box Volume 15, which is still available.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

Each Trendmood Box comes inside a signature purple box, with the products inside wrapped in tissue paper and a layer of bubble wrap at the bottom. This box doesn't come with an info sheet, but there's a sticker on the lid of the box with a QR code you can scan for more information about the products inside. All of the products come in their original packaging, which is great if you want to break up the contents for gifting.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The Trendmood Volume 15 Box

Em Cosmetics True Gloss in Faded Clementine - Retail Value $20

Em Cosmetics has been pretty popular on Instagram, but this is my first time trying their products. The True Gloss formula was thick and super shiny without being crazy sticky, but the orange tones in this lipstick just weren't my favorite for my coloring.

Em Cosmetics Color Drops Serum Blush in Venetian Rose, 10 mL - Retail Value $25

How beautiful is the packaging of this liquid blush? Venetian Rose is a mauvy vintage rose that isn't too pink, and it can be blended out to an almost imperceptible sheerness or built up for a punchy pop of color. Blush products scare me and I rarely use them, but I actually felt like this was a good blush for me because I could use one drop for both cheeks for just a hint of pretty color.

Starface Moisture On Mars, 50 mL - Retail Value $12.99

I very much feel Starface is marketed towards younger folks experiencing acne for the first time, and I wish teenaged Jessica had access to their products. This moisturizer is super lightweight while still giving moisture (great for oily skin and these humid summer days ahead), and it's formulated with hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and holy basil. I liked this as a morning moisturizer to layer under a hydrating sunscreen, but it wouldn't be enough for my dry skin to wear at night.

Starface Hydro - Stars, 32 ct - Retail Value $10.99

So I have actually had a thing of Starface Hydro-Stars before, so I've used them multiple times before getting them in this box. I was a little miffed that we didn't receive the cute yellow storage box a new package of patches come in, and instead received the refills? At the end of the day, though, the paper sleeve they came in will still keep them in one place. I actually don't love these pimple patches. The yellow stars are adorable and fun, but the hydrocolloid material is too thin to effectively absorb the excess gunk of my pimples. I have put these on a whitehead at night and woke up with the white head looking essentially the same because the star couldn't absorb it. I don't really get tiny white heads, though, so maybe if your acne features more whiteheads that are smaller, these would be a better fit.

Starface Clean Swipe, 24 ct - Retail Value $7.99

While I didn't love the Hydro-Stars, I loved these Clean Swipes! They're cotton swabs filled with a cleansing solution you swipe onto your pimple and let dry before applying your pimple patch, and they're made with ingredients like glycerin and aloe vera along with the gentle cleansing surfactants to make sure your pimples are clean before you place a pimple patch on it for 8+ hours.

Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Moisturizer, 50 mL - Retail Value $58

I love Biossance, so I always get excited when I get to try a new product from them- especially when it's through a box like Trendmood, where the cost of this moisturizer is worth more than the cost of this entire box. This is a thicker moisturizer that had a texture that reminded me of canned frosting. It has an ingredients list that includes stars like squalane, omega fatty acids, ceramide NP, and acai berry sterols that mimic the cholesterol that naturally occurs in your skin. I loved how deeply hydrating this moisturizer was- its the perfect night cream for me; it seals in the rest of my evening skincare routine.

Caliray Come Hell or High Water Volumizing Tubing Mascara, 11 mL - Retail Value $24

I don't actually have a a lot of experience with tubing mascaras, so I was eager to try this out. I've used it a few different times, and overall, I really like it. If I am not careful this does make my lashes look a little bit spider-y, so I just try to apply the mascara at different angles instead of at the same angles. This definitely gives length and volume to my lashes. I noticed a small amount of flaking on my face when I wore this, but it wasn't so much that it truly bothered me.

Here I am wearing the lip gloss, blush, and mascara!

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $42 + free shipping (and a total value of $158.97)

Value Breakdown:

  • True Gloss: $20 → $5.28
  • Serum Blush: $25 → $6.60
  • Moisture on Mars: $12.99 → $3.43
  • Hydro - Stars : $10.99 → $2.90
  • Clean Swipe: $7.99 → $2.11
  • Biossance: $58 → $15.32
  • Caliray: $24 → $6.33

Everything in the box adds up to $158.97, which is more than double the cost of the box.

Key Takeaways

Volume 15 from Trendmood had a good mix of higher end and affordable products, and I enjoyed trying out products from across the spectrum. The lip gloss and pimple patches weren't my favorite, but I really loved the moisturizer, blush, and Clean Swipes. I thought the overall value of this box was high and a great deal for the cost, and I appreciate that this box always gives me the chance to try out new-to-me products because they frequently have new releases or products that were just launched into the beauty world.

Great review Jessica! I passed in this one, but it looks like a great box, especially for the younger set. I have to agree that Starface would be perfect for teens. The box for the stars is really cute and minimally the stars keep you from picking your pimples.

I wish so badly they were thicker and worked better for my bigger pimples!

I bought this box and am enjoying the Em cosmetics. I actually like the gloss. I found if I blot after application, the orange disappears and I’m left with a beautiful nude. Maybe that will work for you, Jessica.
