First Impressions

I am beauty-product obsessed. Because I have a slight overabundance of makeup, skincare, haircare, and accessories I have overtaken six out of the six drawers we have in our vanity, giving my husband only enough space for his toothbrush and deodorant. I have since cut back on the number of boxes I subscribe to, but just can’t resist the Walmart Beauty Box because the $6.98 price is right. Last year it seemed things were going downhill with this box, but with the recent changes, this box has been leaving me impressed and excited to see what's inside.

Last season, our pamphlet showed only the specific items included in the box, but this season our pamphlet included photos of all items - stating every box would contain seven products. Assortments vary based on your beauty profile.

Liquid I.V. Hydration Multiplier, Strawberry - Estimated Value - $1.50 - Buy a pack of 6 for $8.98

I am a pretty active person. Between my volleyball league, gardening, jogging, and just plain running around, I drink a lot of water. Tap water is my jam - I want to like electrolyte-infused drinks and sparkling water, but just don’t find it as satisfying as a good old drink of ice-cold water from the tap. That being said, I gave this strawberry Liquid I.V. powder a try. Described as being a way to hydrate faster and more efficiently, I can’t say that this worked that way, but it tasted okay. The strawberry flavor was a little tart and reminded me of other sports drinks. Similar in price to a bottle of Gatorade, it sounds like it could be beneficial, but I’ll just stick with my plain old bottle of water.

Sukin Signature hydrating Mist Toner - Estimated Value - $3.10 - Buy a 4.23 oz bottle for $7.76

Honestly, I have never understood the need for mist toner. It is very seldom that I don’t have a full face of makeup and spraying it with mist just isn’t something I want to do. I did appreciate the light scent of this rosewater and chamomile (I am a chamomile addict) and did like the way it felt on my clean skin, but probably wouldn't use it routinely. I might just put it in my car for the long ride home in case I start feeling drowsy, maybe a spritz in the face is just what I need to give me an afternoon boost!

Gold Bond Daily & Face Lotion - Estimated Value - $0.90 - Buy a 5.5 oz bottle for $4.97

Winter is here in full swing and so are my insanely dry hands. Gold Bond is seriously one of my favorite brands of lotion because every year I suffer from dry and cracked hands and feet.... almost to the point of bleeding. I generally choose the “intensive” version but did enjoy giving this daily body and face lotion a try. Being ultra-lightweight and fragrance free, I found this to really help my skin without being extra thick and greasy, and liked the way it felt on my face. I will definitely be adding this to my winter round-up of lotions.

COVERGIRL TruBlend Super Stunner Highlighter - FULL SIZE! $7.45

I have a few highlighters, but this rose quartz version is a little different from anything I have used in the past. Pairing beautifully with my Tarte blush, this gave a new dimension to my contouring, and I enjoyed the light glittery look it helped me achieve, all while not leaving me to appear like I'm glowing. While I didn’t like how it looked by my brow, I think I actually prefer it to what I usually use on my cheekbones and am happy to have the full-sized version.

Lottie London Retractable Brow Pencil - FULL SIZE! $6.65

I am a product of 1988 and in the thick of high school when thin brows were in. Before every dance I would take my $7 to the local salon to get my eyebrows waxed…that is until they accidentally waxed off half of one of my brows - then asked if she should do the other one to match…the day before my junior prom. Since that day I have not had my eyebrows waxed, but the damage had already been done. I am left with sparse brows that need daily help. I am usually partial to Revlon, but with the amount of brow pencil I use, it gets a little spendy. I was excited to try this Lottie London version as it is half the price. The brown color was absolutely perfect, and the staying power was great. Being a bit thinner than other versions, it was great for fine details, and the brush helped me achieve the exact look I was going for. I think I just discovered my new go-to!

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum - Estimated Value $0.90 - Buy a 30 count for $26.97

As I am getting closer to my mid-30’s I am always looking for ways to help keep my fine lines and wrinkles at bay. I’m all for embracing my aging skin, but I’m definitely not opposed to a little extra help. In a foil packet we received a sample capsule of the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum. I appreciate the fact that it is hypoallergenic, non-greasy, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, mineral oil-free, paraben-free, and silicone-free. Based on the description, it says this serum leaves skin more supple, radiant and revitalized looking in one week. Because I only tried it once, I can’t say this was a magic formula that changed my skin overnight, but I can say that it felt good on my skin and left my skin feeling noticeably softer in just one use. The users on Walmart’s website are giving this product 4.6 out of 5 stars, which makes me want to try these capsules for a longer-term. Have you given these capsules a try? How do they work for you?

Soap & Glory Hand Food - Estimated Value $2.81 - Buy a 4.2oz bottle for $6.98

I love the Soap & Glory brand, and while I was a little bummed to get another lotion in this box, I was happy to see two different brands that I really enjoy. The lightly floral Original Pink scent is lovely and doesn’t agitate damaged skin. I find the packaging sweet and chic and loved this portable size to throw into my purse. Did anyone else receive the 2 lotions in this box? Which one did you prefer?

Here is a photo after an <amazing> 8-hours of sleep while wearing the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum. Using my usual Neutrogena foundation, I added the COVERGIRL TruBlend Super Stunner Highlighter to my upper cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and the bow of my lips. I enhanced my eyebrows with the Lottie London Retractable Brow Pencil and headed outside for a little snowshoeing fun with the kids.

Verdict

Walmart Beauty Box has been trending up, and this season is no exception. We received seven items, and while I don’t personally use drink powders or toner mist, I found them to be good inclusions and a way to determine if these are products you might want to add to your beauty regimen. For $6.98 we received two full-sized items that were almost the same amount of the box by themselves, which is really incredible. The eyebrow pencil has transpired into my new go-to, and with my new stash of lotion, I shouldn’t have bleeding or cracked hands for the entire season, which is always a win in my book. What did you think of this box?

The total value of this quarter's box came out to be about $23.31 which is three times the cost of the box! Receiving the full-sized highlighter and brow pencil completely made this box worth it, especially because the other items were ones that I enjoy or at least enjoyed trying. I definitely thought this was a good deal. How about you?

Still no box. And emails are just canned replies that say they will ship by the end of December. Filed with my credit card and was immediately refunded without contest.

That is so frustrating Robin K! I wonder what the holdup was on Walmart’s end. I hope that’s not a sign they are going downhill after kind of making a comeback!

Same here reached out to my credit card company and now have a refund as well. Too bad, I liked the box.

Humm, I put a comment here that I was waiting for my Walmart Winter Beauty Box and that I had been charged on Nov 18th and I was still waiting. Now those comments are removed. They were up for less than a day and now they are gone. I guess only postive comments wanted?

Hey Maureen! That’s really weird about the comments being removed, I will report that and have someone look into it. That is very frustrating to be charged and still be waiting 2 months later. I would not be a happy camper. I hope it gets straightened out for you….have you received the box yet?

Becca, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunatle, I was charged for the box Nov 18 and now 1/25/22 still no box. I cancelled it a week ago and reached out to my credit card company for a refund. Which they were happy to do. I reached out to Brandshare over 7 times via email over the last month. No luck. Too bad I liked this box and recieved it since March 2016. Not worth the hassle. Thank you again for reaching out. I get other subscriptions so, life goes on. Thanks Becca.

Maureen

I just cancelled my Walmart Beauty Box after recieving it since March 2016. I really liked getting the products but each box kept getting later and later and no response or excuse from Brandshare. That took a lot of the joy of getting the box. So now I cancelled and I will spend my money else where. The frustration and lack of response, finally got to me. Thank you for letting me vent. ( Oh I still do not have the box or tracking -7 weeks).

My box was garbage. I got the gold bond and the liquid IV but then got things I had already received. nyx matte lip cream 2 pack in a color I got a couple months ago, invisa-bobble thing, foil pack of a line serum and a mini mini mini tube of another line serum.

I also received 2 lotions, which I thought was odd. I received the Hempz original, which made me very pleased. I love their brand and their scents. I also received the Soap & Glory Hand Food, and I did not care for the scent at all.

I got the full size NYX lip gloss, but I don’t need or want a clear gloss, so that will probably become a stocking stuffer for someone. Also on the fence about the face mist. Like you, I just don’t really see the need for it.

I am quite pleased with my box, even though my comment probably makes it sound like I’m not. I think I got a good value and some things I will use, but a couple of the products just weren’t right for me personally.

Thanks for sharing Melissa! I like the stocking stuffer idea! I have a little collection of items I don’t love, and my mom goes through them and picks out what she wants when she comes to visit 😊

Thanks for the review, Becca! I liked this box, a great deal for the price. Any word if they are going to be offering a holiday box this year?

Becca

Thanks for commenting Reba! Looking at the Walmart website, I see a couple of limited-edition options, but not holiday specific. Hope that helps! ❤️
