Welcome to our monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from a variety of books, beauty, pet subscriptions – and more. Here are our favorite subscription box items from October 2021:

Brandi's Favorite:

The Item: Hermes Plant by Rooted

The Cost: $25

From: Bespoke Post

Why I love it: I am trying my hardest to become a plant lady so I was excited to see this plant as an option this month! I love my little Philodendron Birkin and I am so hoping that my leaves turn dark green and gain lots of stripes in the near future. While I love the plant itself, I also love the sleek pot that came with it to plant it in which really made me love this whole box! I always love the unique selections they have at Bespoke Post - I mean, it’s not every day you get to order a living thing from a subscription box!

Lindsey's Favorite:

The Item: The Ex Hex

The Cost: $13.99

From: Book of the Month

Why I love it: I’m a sucker for a holiday-themed read, and I’ll never turn down a fun romance novel, so this book was right up my alley! It all begins when Vivienne breaks up with her summer fling. Upset and angry, she drinks way too much vodka, takes a long bath, and accidentally manages to curse him. (Did I mention she’s a witch?) Years later, she and her former beau are reunited, and they have to put their past feelings (which are… complicated) aside to remove the curse that’s now grown to threaten an entire town. This was a fun, steamy, and lighthearted read that I devoured in approximately 24 hours. With elements of Practical Magic, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and the typical rom-com will-they-or-won’t-they push and pull, I couldn’t have hoped for a better book to get me in the mood for Halloween.

Lindsey subscribes to Book of the Month on her own, but peep Brandi's October pick here. Read more reviews by Lindsey!

Naomi's Favorite:

Champagne Flutes for Brown Sugar Box October 2021

The Item: IZZY & LIV “CHEERS SIS” CHAMPAGNE FLUTE SET OF 2

The Cost: $40

From: Brown Sugar Box

ACTIVE DEAL: Save 20% off your first box!

Why I love it: These adorable champagne flutes are fun and bright but also sophisticated and delicate. I love the juxtaposition between classic and modern. The colorful silicone sleeves are removable and easy to clean. They provide a foolproof grip that makes it impossible to ‘drop that alcohol.’

Megan's Favorite:

The Item: Dirty Lamb Apricot Cleansing Oil

The Cost: $42

From: See New Skincare

Why I love it: I mean, you know I LOVE an oil cleanser and this one is so moisturizing. It also smells like ylang ylang and leaves my skin super clean and super soft.

Becca's Favorite:

The Item: Lottie London Starry Eyed Stamp Liner

The Cost: $8.98

From: Walmart Limited Edition Halloween Box

Why I love it: I use black liquid liner on a daily basis and was running exceedingly low when I received this box. I was pleasantly surprised with the price point and the staying power of this handy dandy little liner. I haven’t used the star stamp much (really only for “tattoos” on my six-year-old's hand, but it is a neat bonus.

Kelly's Favorite:

The Item: BioLite Solar Panel 5+

The Cost: $89.95

From: Steel to Reel Club

Why I love it: It’s the perfect everyday hiking/survival/just great to have tool. I love anything that uses renewable energy and the fact that I can take this on a camping trip, use the sun to power it, then charge up my phone or camera is just mind-blowing to me.

Jessica's Favorite:

orange tabby cat playing with black bat cat toy

The Item: Flappy Bat Cat Catnip Toy

The Cost: Listed Value $5.99 (box exclusive)

From: CatLadyBox

ACTIVE DEAL: 20% off your first box
CODE: MSA20

Why I love it: This was the first time I got to share a subscription box with my kitten, Goose (other than the time he batted a moisturizer around my apartment like a ping pong ball, but that’s not what the intended purpose was). I love the cute little face on this bat toy and enjoyed playing tug of war with Goose thanks to the felt wings, and Goose loved playing with this- it’s in a different place in my apartment every time I look at it.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.
