See New: The Skincare Box
4.3 overall rating
15 Ratings | 15 Reviews

The See New Skincare Box is a $47 bi-monthly beauty box filled with green beauty items that focus on cruelty-free, chemical-free, and sustainably sourced ingredients.

This latest box features five products from Dirty Lamb! This is a brand that might seem familiar to some of us, but they have recently rebranded and the minimal vibes look amazing and suit their beautifully formulated products really well. I think this revamp really enhances the awesome skincare this line is known for.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

The See New box is always chic and minimal.

It arrived with a "menu" of services you can do on yourself and a card with more info on how to use the products inside from Dirty Lamb!

The Products

Dirty Lamb Chocolate Coconut Lip Scrub, 1 oz - Retail Value $22

This lip scrub is pretty darn decadent! Sugar, coconut oil, chocolate, oh my! It is also a little messy, so you have been warned. Do this one over the skink. It absolutely does a great job of smoothing and exfoliating the lips while leaving them moisturized. And, hey, if you accidentally eat a little, no harm no foul.

Dirty Lamb Apricot Cleansing Oil, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $42

I adore oil cleansers and use them daily. They are perfect for all skin types (yes, even oily!), and also a secret weapon for removing SPF, makeup, and dirt with ease. This oil feels a little different than many out there because most oil cleansers emulsify with water to create a white sort of foam when you massage. This one doesn't really do that and I feel like a lot more is left behind on my face even after rinsing. For me, this is a plus. For someone who might prefer something lighter, try this one before bed instead of during the day, especially if you are new to oil cleansers. I like to gently pat my face dry after a shower and gently massage my face since this stuff has a lot of slip. The ingredient list is wonderful: rice bran oil, apricot oil, and argan oil. It also smells incredible, with warm notes of cardamom complemented by bright ylang-ylang and lavender. This is one of my favorite oil cleansers, ever.

Dirty Lamb Rose Petal Toner, 2 fl oz - Retail Value $38

Toner dance time! You all know I am toner-obsessed. I use them all the time. Feeling dry? Spritz. Feeling bored? Spritz. Setting makeup? Spritz. It won't solve all of your problems, but it can make you smile. This blend is heavy on the rosewater (you deserve all the roses) and it also features aloe and witch hazel. The misting nozzle also gets an A+ from me for not being an aggressive jet stream but the proper misting head I would expect.

Dirty Lamb Ultra Day Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $46

In addition to loving mists, I am also a serum hoarder, so the fact that this box arrived with TWO is great. Helpfully, they were both labels for day and night time. This day serum smells a little medicinal (probably because it has neem, lemon, and sage oil inside) but I quite liked it. It also has rice bran oil (which is a great anti-aging moisturizer), hemp seed oil (great for inflammation), and sunflower seed oil. This stuff is super moisturizing but not heavy, and I am happy to report that for an oil serum, it absorbs really well. A few drops in your palms are enough to gently pat to cover your face.

Dirty Lamb Ultra Night Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $54

The night serum is on the heavier side, as it should be. Your skin does a ton of repair while you sleep so I am always a huge fan of layering on something heavier before bed to help that process out! And, sure, this stuff does leave your face a little shiny, but only your pillowcase will complain. In addition to having soothing and regenerating ingredients inside like sweet almond oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, and jojoba, it is also full of antioxidants and smells more than a little sexy with notes of ylang-ylang, sweet orange, and lavender. This is going to be such a wonderful addition to my winter skin routine.

Verdict

See New Skincare Box is one of the darlings of the skincare subscriptions out there, in my opinion. You always know you are going to get a box of full-size skincare that has been vetted by the See New team to be ingredient-conscious and performance-focused. It is also a great way to try out new brands or even older favorites like Dirty Lamb (loving the rebranding, btw!). This specific assortment feels like a great choice for this time of year when things start to get nourishing and cozy. Why leave your skin out of the fall fun? And with a value of $202 for a $47 box, this amounts to an awfully great deal!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I agree with you Sienna. This box was a major miss for me. Random brand and although I enjoyed the lip scrub, it was a lot of money for only one good item!

I hate to be negative – this all looks very lovely – but I have to point out the ridiculousness of charging $38 for 2 oz. of witch hazel, rosewater, aloe, and purified water. I’m pretty sure you can buy large containers of each of those ingredients and still pay less.

Great review, Megan! I’ve been having a great time trying out all these different green beauty products. And I agree, the rebranding looks great! I especially appreciate the day serum using the white top and the night serum using the black. Presentation was A+. Now I just need to try everything lol. I did break out the lip scrub, though. Delicious 😋
