July 2021 Dapper Dog Box Review

Murray is ready to dig in!

Under the Sea Bandana

Every month Dapper Dog includes a festive double-sided bandana. This style is simple to tie and fits perfectly around my dog's neck. This month is ocean-themed featuring a starfish and whale pattern on one side and a pattern with shells and starfish on the flip side. This is a repeat bandana, but the original we had (without the easy ties) is long gone by now. I like the patterns, and honestly, I don't even think Murray even realizes it is a duplicate. (Swipe to see the reverse side of the bandana modeled on my BFF, Murray. He is my 10-year-old Corgi-Maltese and the medium size fits him to a T!)

Healthy Dogma Coconut Squares, 6oz – Retail Value $5.95

Made in the U.S. and packed with protein and fiber, Healthy Dogma's Coconut Squares were a hit with Mur. They are crunchy but easy enough to munch on for a lazy dog. The simple ingredients list consists of only six items: yellow peas, bananas, chickpeas, honey, coconut oil, and shredded coconut. I love when I don't have to sound out the ingredients in my dog's food.

Love at first bite!

Healthy Dogma Peanut Butter and Jelly Hearts, 6oz - Retail Value $5.95

Honestly, when I opened this package of treats, I immediately craved a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Murray was super impressed by this chewy treat, too! These make the perfect training treats, irresistible and bite-sized. This ingredient list, although all US-sourced, is a little more complicated than the first.

He takes his snacks very seriously.

Zippy Paws Bottle Crusherz Shark - Retail Value $7.99

We have a few of these toys with bottles inside. They're super fun for the pooch to bite into, providing him with the satisfying crunch of the water bottle and a glorious squeak as he bares down. The shark is plush enough to keep his attention and protects his mouth from any sharp corners his teeth might give the bottle. He loves running around throwing this shark around the house squeaking and crunching all the while.

Zippy Paws Floppy Jelly Toy - Retail Value $6.99

I love this goofy-looking toy! His silly smile captivated us both right away, even though I totally thought he was a 5-legged octopus! It makes way more sense that he is a jellyfish. He has a large, round squeaker in his head that leaves a deafening shriek at the slightest squeeze. Murray loves having several legs to whip around, and don't get me started on that squeaker.

Verdict: Dapper Dog's July box was full of excellent finds. Murray loves the crunchy treats with unique flavors, and he also really loves both of this month's toy selections. As a whole, I think this box's ocean theme was adorable and Murray loved it! That being said, $35.99 is a steep price for two bags of treats, two dog toys, and a bandana. Without the bandana, this box's retail value adds up to $26.88; I think it would have been great for Dapper Dog to add in one more special treat or accessory to offset the cost of the box.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, sign up today to receive the August box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $35.99/month, giving each of the six items in the box an average cost of $6.00.
