Gwynnie Bee is a clothing rental subscription service that formerly catered to plus sizes only, but is now far more inclusive offering sizes 0-32! Gwynnie Bee allows you to select items you like that are put in a virtual closet. The chosen items in your virtual closet are sent to you at random, but you can select priority pieces to be sent to you first. Since I started using the service, I can say I always have a lot of fun with this box!

Gwynnie Bee also has a marketplace on their site where you can buy steeply discounted used rental pieces and brand new accessories, underwear, and workout gear as well!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Gwynnie Bee August 2021 Review

This is a review of the three items at a time for $95/month:

Ribbed Knit Sweater in Merlot by Dex, Size 2x — Cost to Keep $48.00

It is a bit warm for a sweater, but fall is right around the corner, right? Gosh, I hate typing that even because I love the summer. This sweater is a great layering piece-- the knit is on the thinner side. I could easily wear this over a dress with tights and boots or with a dress shirt underneath paired with jeans in the fall. The deep burgundy merlot shade is perfect for fall as well. This will look phenomenal paired with mustard yellow and orange pieces in cooler months! I opted to style this sweater with a black pencil skirt, white Mary Janes, and oversized checker hoops from Fairly Odd Shop to bring out both neutral shades and add some excitement to the pattern.

Ditsy Floral Burgundy Dress by Hutch, Size 2x — Cost to Keep $70.50

When I used to review Nordstrom's Trunk Club years ago, I would frequently review Hutch pieces. Their styles were always unique and well made, so I was eager to see a Hutch dress included in this month's box. This dress looks burgundy from a distance, but upon further inspection, the floral print is filled with beautiful pinks, oranges, and purples. I was pleased with the roomy fit in the size as well. I paired it with yellow flower power earrings made by yours truly and some black cowboy boots. This dress could work all year depending on how it is styled. In the summer, wear some cute mustard open-toe platform sandals, a large brimmed hat, and big round sunglasses for a wonderful retro look. For cooler months, wear this dress with patterned tights, ankle booties, and a Boho fur-trimmed Penny Lane from Almost Famous for another vintage-inspired ensemble. This will also look great simply worn with flats and statement earrings at the office as well-- you will get your money's worth due to this dress's versatility. Did I also mention... IT HAS POCKETS!

Ruffle Detail Fit and Flare Midi Dress in Fall Print by Eloquii, Size 22 — Cost to Keep $28.00

Eloquii is one of my favorite plus-size fashion brands. Their pieces are well made but offer a modern, high fashion, yet retro feel.  This dress is a prime example from the bold print and colors-- it reminds me of something my mom would have worn in the early eighties with warm brown boots and a matching leather trench coat. This is more of a dress I would wear in the fall with ankle boots and a faux leather jacket or in colder weather with a faux fur coat. Not only is this dress stylish as all get out, but the cut is incredibly complementary to my frame and fits like a dream. The fabric has just the right amount of stretch. This is going to be a difficult piece to send back to Gwynnie Bee-- it is so good, but I am trying to be a bit more frugal. I felt ace wearing this beauty with purple glitter Venus symbol earrings from Shop Purple Banana and some mustard mules to complement the other colors in the dress.

Verdict:

This month, Gwynnie Bee came through with some great pieces, but they all scream fall to me! Our summers go by so fast, so I am not trying to summon fall with these jewel tones and long sleeves quite yet, ya hear? I am still in all things orange, yellow, pink, and chartreuse! This doesn't mean I disliked any of these pieces. They were all items I would want to wear while sipping on a hot Apple cider watching scary movies.  I will forgive Gwynnie Bee for this minor misstep because I love them that much. I truly appreciate being able to rent pieces for special occasions or just to try out new to me trends and brands. However, did you realize that Gwynnie Bee is much more than a rental service?  You can buy rental pieces, but they also have a members-only outlet where you can purchase items at even deeper discounts as well. I also love their frequent at-home items sales as well as their points system that can provide you even more discounts! Not only all of this-- but having it delivered all to your doorstep? Chef's kiss if you ask me! Are you excited to see what I get in my next month's review as well?

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent.

Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95.00 three-item-at-a-time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month. The three items total up to $146.50, which is $51.50 more than my monthly plan! That is a heck of a savings! However, imagine the even greater value had I sent these pieces back sooner and received additional pieces!
