The See New Skincare Box July/August 2021 Review

Our box arrived with an info card with all the deets on our products this month. It looks like I am in for a real treat!

Dew Drops Enzymatic Cleansing Gel, 3.7 fl oz - Retail Value $69.00

The first thing I noticed about this absolutely gorgeous cleanser was the wildly unique texture. It is some sort of magical gel/oil/balm hybrid and unlike anything I have tried before. It takes just a little to massage onto your face and start a decadent cleansing process. I actually found that I love using this on dry skin, but it works just as well on damp. It emulsifies when you add water and turns just a little milky, washing away dirt and oil and exfoliating without stripping your skin. It also leaves some great stuff behind, like antioxidants, nurturing oils, and conditioning plant extracts. It has a bright tart scent that reminds me of sunshine and citrus.

Green Nectar Marine Hydrator, 1.9 fl oz - Retail Value $64.00

This is such a beautiful twist on a hyaluronic acid serum. It contains multiple sizes of this great hydrating ingredient for deeper skin penetration as well as botanical extracts from land and sea, like calendula, kelp, plantain, and passionflower. Everything comes together to create a serum that is lightweight but heavy-hitting, and perfect for layering with other skincare faves without any pesky peeling. It has a sharp and fresh green scent that I loved.

Thousand Petals Flower Acid Resurfacing Mask, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $52.00

This pretty mask did smell a bit less floral than I expected, but the soft scent was lovely, even if faint. And even though this was a mask featuring clay (kaolin to be exact) I noticed no drying effect. In fact, I found the mix of flower extracts and acids to be rejuvenating and brightening. These effects come from exfoliating lactic acid, pyruvic acid, fruit acids, and flower acids that help remove dead skin without being irritating. You might notice a slight tingle if you aren't a regular exfoliator, and this is totally normal. After leaving the mask on for 10-15 minutes, remove it with water and a gentle massage in small circles. It has the most gentle physical exfoliating granules from bamboo powder which complete this two-step exfoliation, revealing bright polished skin.

Barrier Warrior Multigrain Peptides + Ceramides Gel, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $74.00

As someone over 30 and focused on anti-aging care for my skin, peptides and ceramides are two of my favorite skin treats. This one also brings some of my other favorites along too, like brightening niacinamide, hydrating hyaluronic acid, antioxidant-rich green tea, and my favorite green thing, cicapair! It also is just the plushest feeling cream serum that hydrates and adds a great glow to my face.

Good Earth - CoQ10 + Vitamins Thanaka Mask, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $52.00

My last item was a beautiful brown mask. This little pot celebrates all the goodness of the earth, like clay, bark, honey, apples, roots, and botanical ferments. It has a scent that is earthy and sweet and a thicker texture. This mask kind of does it all: it hydrates, improves texture, brightens, tones, and boosts collagen. And, much like the first mask, wasn't drying. I did find that the layer of mask I applied on myself did dry after about 10 minutes so I decided to mist it with a hydrosol to rehydrate and I loved this! When it was time to remove, I used lukewarm water and massage movements to gently rinse it away. My skin was left feeling refreshed and calm.

Verdict: See New Skincare Box has a whopping value of $311 this month. That is bananas for a $47 box. And, the full sizes continue to delight! See New is pretty much the perfect box for someone into indie brands who wants to try out an entire routine from a single brand. It is really an experience unlike other beauty boxes out there! I loved the Forest Rhapsody brand chosen this month and thought the formulas were really unique, super enjoyable to use, and very active. This continues to be one of my favorite beauty boxes.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, but not for long!

Value Breakdown: At $47.00 for this box, here is what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Dew Drops Cleanser $10.43
  • Thousand Petals Mask $7.86
  • Green Nectar Serum $9.67
  • Barrier Warrior Serum $11.18
  • Good Earth Mask $7.86

Alternatively, the 5 items have an average cost of $9.40.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

@megan k. Thank you for the great review ❤ Without it I would have never even known about the See New box. I read this post and fell in love with what you described. I signed up for the See New give away and won!!! I received my box this week and all I can say is you were SO right. The cleanser is so different than what I have used before, in a great way. I changed my routine to this set with a few additions and am really pleased with the way my skin looks.
At this point I am done with Ipsy & Glossy, the See New shop will probably get all of my $$, lol

Such a wonderful subscription with beautiful, lux products every time! This one in particular seems to be a big hit!

I’ve been a subscriber for about a year now. Every box has been a great value, and I’ve found at least one “will repurchase” item from each brand. I have been trying to reduce my footprint, focusing more on quality, not quantity. This box, along with Beauty Heroes and Boxwalla, are the ones that make me happy and feel ok about still indulging in subscription boxes. I’m sad when I think about how much stuff I’ve thrown out from subs like boxycharm & ipsy…maybe one nice product and the rest is junk. See New also has excellent customer service & a good discount in their shop.

The reviews are so good, I may end up getting second box *covers face

I’m with you on this one. Oops! Just got my second one…. shhh don’t tell my husband lol!

I’ve been considering doing the same thing. I have too much skin care as it is, but this brand, for this price, is amazing.

It’s nice to support a young brand, the couple behind it are so genuine & it makes me want to spend my hard earned money here rather than on a big brand that doesn’t give a rats about me/my order!

I just ordered this. I’m done with those bigger boxes too. I feel like I’m interested in maybe one of the items and the rest is just waste. It’s starting to make me feel guilty. I’d rather dump all the other boxes and just go for one in which I feel like I’ll use all of (or if it’s not for my skin type as feel good about passing on to a friend…because some of the things I get in Ipsy are too ridiculous to offer anyone else). I agree with you, I’d rather support a smaller company that cares!

Agreed here! Didn’t realize it was just 2 people! How cool. I just subscribed, I am quite excited after reading the rest of the comments

What a great looking box..

I’ll have to email them…the code says ‘invalid’…looks like a box I would love to try.

I used a code I found on Instagram, SHARADA20 & GBM20 were ones I found. I’m not affiliated (I wish!) but these will take 20% off anything I think. Hope that helps!

Thank you for your efforts Lee, but they did end up helping me. Turns out it was a browser issue. I’m excited to try these products!

I like this! I cancelled Allure and Ipsy Plus this year because I don’t like fake, shady brands like 111 Skin and I am seeing a lot of them and others pop up in these boxes. I cancelled X because it was supposed to be higher end and exclusive, yet they still put X items in the add ons. I don’t consider that to be exclusive, it’s not exclusive if I can purchase it from add ons. I can get on board with this box at this price, especially since it’s always been about the skincare for me. I have tried enough big name, higher end brands now to know that a lot of the time, they aren’t as good as the price tag reads. Can’t wait to try this! I have put it in place of my Ipsy/Allure and we’ll see how it does! Excited!

Same! I also cancelled my other boxes for this and am greatly annoyed by the overpriced products in other boxes who add insult to injury by doing “versions” for sub-boxes different from the original version. See New is such great value for money on all counts. I hope they keep up the great work.

I never want to see 111 skin in a box again

Same here… happily canceled those boxes & have been loving this one along with a couple others.

The Barrier Warrior serum is SO GOOD, I really wish it wasn’t so expensive so I could keep buying it from the brand. Really enjoyed everything from this box, though the Thousand Petals mask was a lot more potent than I was expecting! I left it on for too long the first time using it and my skin got a little irritated; now I set a timer for 10 minutes. Other than the Barrier Warrior my faves are the Dew Drops cleanser and Green Nectar serum – I like using Dew Drops in the shower, and then applying Green Nectar as soon as I get out of the shower, to really lock in the moisture.

I have to admit, this one sold me. excited to try this box out finally

Wow. I recently got myself down to just the Beachly Beauty Box because the first box offered a full size body oil, my current skincare product obsession. Done with Ipsy plus and Earthlove, which is a great box, I am just trying to own less overall, need less etc. But then here is a box offering products with ingredients I don’t have a mainstay brand covering, like peptides, hyaluronic acid and natural acids for exfoliating. I also love masks that are not contained within a sheet. So, step 1, immediately cancel Beachly Beauty and sign up for See New Skincare. Step 2: philosophize that this box is all I’ll allow to bring in new goods that seem like a NEED, but truly compared to what are real needs, I recognize I don’t. Step 3 is to try to not be so hard on myself for buying really lovely natural skincare. Step 4: justify this purchase because after all I will be supporting new skincare brands and a newer subscription company owned by a cool sounding duo with their heads on straight
Read there about us section on their website.

Step 5: Be gracious to MSA, i.e. thank you for the code and no worries about the initial wording error. You are all busy building something new here, so thank you!

Not to trivialize the power of 12 Step groups, seriously, bless anyone who has made a change in thier life within that community. I guess I’m feeling like subscription box buying can be an addiction, obviously just a specific form of a shopping addiction. That is why I am being so ludicrous detailing all the steps. It gives me pause, because If I feel this guilty about buying this sub, it must be ringing a bell of very old patterns, I thought I dealt with decades ago. Just in a new form. I’m know I’m not alone in the guilt of buying a new sub. And then I feel guilty by being so dark and serious about it all. I really should just delete this but perhaps it will ring someone else’s wind chime.

All right, time to drink some coffee take a walk and get over myself. Have a good day all.

I really loved reading this. Agree with you!

I loved your post because I’ve been feeling really down about all the stuff I constantly accumulate and absolutely do not need. I’m trying to be more mindful of what I’m purchasing because I truly hate the idea of so much waste (money, packaging, the product I don’t end up using..). I think it just feels better to support a smaller sub box focusing on what I’m interested in-and what I will realistically use. It’s hard to retrain yourself in certain habits and it’s ok to mess up. That doesn’t mean I can’t can’t recommit to consuming less stuff. I just resonated completely with your post and really appreciate you writing it. Thank you!!

Their customer service is outstanding. The team was very gracious to me when I expressed allergies in a certain product & they made an adjustment for me! It was my first experience feeling like there were real people behind the brand! Haha

Cindy

Amazing. I’m dumping my other subs in favor of this one. I love everything here but after having used the products for about a week, it’s the Green Nectar that’s the big winner for me. I’ll definitely be buying it again. Someone on another subscription review board mentioned the eyedropper caps and I don’t like them either but the ones on the brand website show pumps, so I assume the eyedroppers were provided for the See New box only. The eyedroppers aren’t quite a deal breaker for me but it would be irritating to pay over 60 bucks for a bottle of serum that I have to struggle to open.

Annie

anyone know which products are in the smaller subscription?

The smaller box has:
Dew Drops Enzymatic Cleanser
Green Nectar Marine Hydrator
Good Earth Thanaka Mask

$311 value?! Say less.

Reply ButtonReply

Nora

I tried using the Welcome30 code, but it won’t let me use it on the box I guess.

Reply ButtonReply

Shea

It’s only taking 17 off the box for me. It’s still a good deal I guess but it’s super misleading to receive an email from MSA advertising the box for 30 dollars off.

Reply ButtonReply

Snow

Shea it’s a great deal! $30 is insane for this box.

echo

@Melissa, when I got the email I had no idea what the price of See New was and since some of these boxes are priced out of this world, then offer huge deals – think Curateur – $30 off isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Melissa

You’d have to be kind of gullible to think you’d get a $47 box for $30 off.

Vi

They resent an email….I think they meant get the first box for $30

Jordan

Every box I’ve received has been such a positive experience. I love this box so much. I almost wish it were a monthly box so I could come home to more See New boxes! Great job team See New

Their Aster Rain box was my first time trying them, ended up repurchasing 3 of the products from it. I just opened up this box and already fell head overs heels for the cleanser, mask, and peptide serum. Don’t sleep on this subscription! This is the best box out there IMO.

Once I get through some of my skincare stash I really need to sign up for this box. The products chosen each month seem so good!!

Wow I can’t wait to dive into mine! I have so many wonderful products to try it’s a bit overwhelming but in a seriously good way lol. I find the better my skin looks, the less make up I need/want to wear. I actually can’t believe how much I used to wear but I know looking back it was because I was so embarrassed of my skin. I think a lot of people feel like they can’t achieve great skin, but with patience, diligence, and a lot of trial and error it can be done. I am extremely thankful for subs like this one that put out quality skincare boxes with no shanangins. It’s truly a breath of fresh air and has caused me to rethink how I buy skin products and what I need in my skincare routine.

Thank you Megan for the awesome thorough reviews. I appreciate learning what’s inside each product and the best way to use it.
