ATTENTION (hopefully ALLURE will read this)… I don’t like being duped. I’m sure most of us don’t. Check this out after just a few minutes of research. This exact product can be purchased not for $131 but for $24.97 at Nordstrom Rack. ALSO spoiler #3 is a $20 product. I haven’t yet found spoiler #1 but that is next. Also Amazon sells this product for $14.99 with 5 in stock.
What gets me is Allure has been my fav beauty box and I was a member over a year. I did cancel this year for 2 months but I really liked June’s box and went back to sub. What I wish to see is more honestly and not being duped. Let’s say this product is really $25 and spoiler #2 is $20 ok so far if these products are something I want I am still getting a deal since the sub is $23. Anyone wanting even just these 2 items (I haven’t checked spoiler #1 yet) they are ahead. Why does Allure need to exaggerate the cost of items? I get it that full retail is just over $100 from ABLE website but obviously you can find much better pricing obviously from what I’m sharing with everyone.
I don’t know where this leaves me with what I will do regarding my sub but I’m frustrated. In Allures defense they are stating a value from product direct price to customers but even then I’m wondering what is going on with this product if it’s already being sold on discounted stores. Is there a parent company to ABLE? I don’t think I want to try the product without some reviews out there and I can’t find any.

They said the product was WORTH $131 – which it is. If you go to the brand’s website and look at the product page, you will see that it is indeed a $131 product. The fact that someone has the product on sale for a lower price does not mean that the product is now only worth whatever the sale price is. That would be like saying that if you bought a product on sale then every single one of that product in existence was now only worth the price that you paid for it. That is just not how things work.
I meant I really liked May’s Allure box and I did resub. Truly don’t know what I will do with July. I have to see spoiler #4 & 5 I guess. If at least 2 products each month are something I will use then I can give what I won’t use away and generally $23 is worth the cost. The month this year I cancelled there wasn’t even 1 item I would have used so I had to cancel. I guess I’ll decide.
p.s. Boxycharm did same thing with a different ABLE product (moisturizer I believe) stating cost was $113 and it’s an item you can also find at Nordstrom Rack.

Water, shea butter, glycerin and dimethicone is $123 huh .. no thanks.

It’s in Nordstrom Rack, in a better container, but for $25? Seems like they’re trying to get rid of stock.

Check your email if you’re an Allure subscriber and got the April box, I received the survey today.

Did a quick search and last year someone on reddit found out that Able, Avant and a brand called Symbiosis were all from the same company. They say they have stores in Florida but are actually all Home Depot addresses. Their London address is at a WeWork place in the city. So that’s all I could quickly find that hasn’t been mentioned here. It’s in the Boxycharm reddit if anyone needs to look, I don’t think I can link it here.

This is so obviously an AVANT, 111Skin, UBeauty, over inflated type brand that is supposed to impress us with its retail value but actually has the opposite effect on me. I cannot stand receiving brands like this. Please just give me something REAL!! I would literally rather receive a Loreal or Cover Girl product over this type of thing. I can’t wait for the survey for this month! 🙂
Here is the thing, you don’t see Sisley, La Mer, Augustinus Bader, Dr. Barbara Sturm, or any of those type of prestige brands sending out full size items in Allure or Boxy or IPSY. When you receive those brands you get a tiny sample. Regardless of your feelings towards those high end brands, there is no way a reputable company would send out a FULL SIZE $134 product in a subscription box. For heaven’s sake, Sisley used to have a subscription box where you paid them for SAMPLES! Allure, I love you dearly but PLEASE stop trying to impress us with this kind of stuff and just send REAL products for us to try.

Thank you for keeping us all in the loop. I just read a thread on Reddit about avant, symbiosis, and able skincare all being owned by the same company but wouldn’t have searched it if not for your comment.

Yes! U-Beauty!! That’s exactly what I thought this was! And, I’ve been wondering about the brand for awhile now…I’ve been seeing it pop up more & more, in the sub boxes.cI could do a quick google search I suppose but seeing someone group it in w/those other brands…Avant, 111Skin tells me all I need to know! Thx.

Mandi, yes looking to see who owns what is a wild ride lol. It’s like a family tree with a bunch of branches… some of the same companies that make dog food and cleaning products also have beauty branches. I feel like if I dig deep enough it’s going to eventually lead to beauty equivalent of the missing link or patient zero… have a good night

This is for Denise: I was shocked to read bout Belif, since it’s a Kbeauty brand I heard about before I ever saw in a box, but after looking it up it seems to be owned by LG. LG also owns Avon and other brands like The Face Shop-so they’re safe. Also, U beauty always seemed to be legit since it’s sold at a lot of places like Net A Porter, Neimans, and Nordstrom, so I agree with you about all of that. It sad that we all have to be on alert about these beauty box “brands” since some people are so greedy and the boxes aren’t as carefully curated as they claim to be.
Denise
FWIW I’m pretty sure u beauty is a real company although expensive. Her online presence (?) goes back years and they had a free sample initiative when launching so it didn’t just appear out of nowhere like the other three. So it sounds like a different scenario than the others. Of course this doesn’t take into account if it’s one of the made two different places thing, that I have no clue and would need to do more research on where it’s made if different for sub boxes, but this isn’t an avantish product to my knowledge.. but that’s just my opinion. Just like a lot of people don’t know that MLM Avon owns Belif a brand that a lot of people like, that has been in allure many times. You need to be a part time detective now to know where our stuff comes from lol.

IMO, the fake prestige brand, over-inflated hero items are part of Allure’s attempt to justify the price increase to $23.

This comment…. You are so right…If I get a full size Le Mer product in a monthly box I would flip out.

This entire brands line is at Nordstrom Rack for like 70% off lmao hard pass. Over the fake brands.

Meh. Might be a useful item but I hate when the heroes are at such fake values. That usually means the rest of the box will be low dollar since we’re getting such a “deal” on this dumb price item.
The item itself will be perfect for my mom so I’ll probably keep the month. The palette is more useful than the red one I haven’t touched but I would have rather gotten the yellow instead of the red and something new or interesting in this box. Third spoiler meh
So far likely a keep but considering how many boxes I’ve skipped my annual is going to last me 3 years 😂

On Able’s website this product is on markdown for $64.00 Must not have been moving at $132.

It looks like an interesting product, but I am going to pass, I am Not sure where to introduce this product in my routine w/o over exfoliating/stressing my skin.

I like the other spoilers just not this one. Seems like a private label via Alibaba brand that’s now becoming a sub box only brand because the price is ridiculously high for no reason. Well no reason they say on their website. There’s literally no info on their site as to who created it. And it’s on Nordstrom Rack at 70% off, like their entire line.

Oh and eBay is full of this product for under $20. Not worth $132

I wondered about that, on amazon its 14.99 could be a fake on amazon perhaps?

I think it’s people that have received the product and are selling it. Boxycharm sent this brand out this month. I am going to say likely not a fake on Amazon since they have only 5 of the product. Just what I think.

Definitely interested. I missed the U compound so open to trying this.

As much as I like to try this, I really don’t want the 1st spoiler. Therefore I’ll be skipping. I do still have U Beauty from I believe January box. So looking forward to trying that.

I don’t want the palette either and I am up to my ears in moisturizer. I have tried the u beauty compound and I am not sure I really like it; maybe it’s the texture or the simple fact that I have to cram it in between one of my steps. Guess I’ll be having another chat with the Allure ladies.

I looked this up and it seems like another avant- type of product with a different company name. I more excited about the third spoiler that’s a sample size but a real product and company

Lizzy
Because IT BASICALLY IS Avant. Well not exactly but Able is run by the same guy who runs Symbiosis and Avant. They buy the same Alibaba products, slap their name on it, and sell them to beauty boxes with ridiculous over inflated prices. I’m so annoyed right now with Allure. This is a clear skip.

I was wondering if it was an Avant type brand, I dont know why but as soon as I saw it it just made me think about Avant. I actually like the Avant products I’ve tried but they are not at all worth the ridiculous price tags. Im more excited about the Acure spoiler too
