Cocotique “Spread Love” February 2021 Review

The back of the Cocotique info card describes all the products included in this month’s box. It also provides information on where to purchase the products online and exclusive discount codes where available.

Bonus Item: Canvas Tote

The box comes with a bonus reusable tote bag each month. I love this element! I think it is commendable when brands promote low-waste options. I love the message behind the text, "Spread love, kindness, and compassion," printed on the front of the bag.

HASK Curl Care Intensive Deep Conditioner, 6.7 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $5.99

I have a full head of curls that always seem to be parched. Hask's Curl Care Intensive Deep Conditioner is a luxurious, rich 10-minute deep conditioner that hydrates and restores curls for long-lasting, frizz-free curl retention and definition. I've had great results from Hask products in the past, and this Intensive Deep Conditioner is another effective product by the brand. It left my curls feeling soft, bouncy, hydrated, and manageable. With a vegan formula, featuring a miracle blend of organic argan oil, vitamin E, and coconut oil, this product locks out frizz and locks in moisture, while maintaining your natural curl pattern. The absolutely delightful scent makes the product truly enjoyable to use. It's a color-safe and sulfate, paraben, gluten, and aluminum-free formula.

HAWAIIAN SILKY Miracle Worker 14-in-1,  2 fl oz - Estimated Value $1.54 (Buy a full-size 8 fl oz for $6.15 here)

This Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14-in-1 really impressed me. Not only does it smell positively wonderful, like a tropical holiday. It's a non-staining, non-greasy formula that moisturizes, softens, and detangles natural curls, wavy hair, and/or straight styles. After shampooing and conditioning my hair, I applied this product from scalp to ends and was incredibly impressed with how well it helped detangle and soften my hair. I was almost able to detangle my whole head with just my fingers. It left my curls feeling moisturized and with a vibrant sheen. My hair didn't feel heavy or weighed down. This product can be used as a no-drip activator, a moisturizing curl definer, and also works well on damaged or chemically treated hair.

BIOSALUT Hand Sanitizer, 10.1 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $8.99

Hand sanitizer is the new liquid gold of 2021. Everyone always needs it, and it's become one of my favorite staples to receive in any subscription box. This BioSalut Hand Sanitizer is a disinfectant alcohol gel that kills germs in a non-irritating, non-drying way. Infused with aloe vera, this disinfecting powerhouse leaves hands feeling soft, moisturized, and refreshed instead of dry and cracked like some of its counterparts. This sanitizer kills 99.9% percent of germs, which is basically all of them, so it's heading to my car for after-store sanitization.

RAEL Organic Cotton Cover Panty Liners, 20 Count - Full Size! Retail Value $4.50

Rael makes a lot of wonderful fragrance-free, all-natural, organic feminine hygiene products. I've truly enjoyed everything I've received from this brand. Their Organic Cotton Cover Panty Liners are 100% organic cotton, naturally absorbent, soft, thin, flexible, and breathable. They have a non-toxic adhesive that is ideal for sensitive skin and helps prevent any irritation. I love how thin and flexible the liner itself is. It provides a comfortable wear as it molds to the shape of your body. I don't know about you, but I absolutely despise a chunky pad or liner. But these liners are ultra-thin, which is ideal for me. I found the product very comfortable and perfect for extended wear, and the adhesive strip ensures the liner stays in place. The organic cotton creates a sustainable freshness throughout the length of wear.

SUAVE PROFESSIONALS FOR NATURAL HAIR Natural Shea Butter & Pure Coconut Oil Moisturizing Curl Conditioner, 16.5 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $4.99

I had no idea Suave was branching out into the world of curls. Now that they're here, I'm sure they'll want to stay. Suave was always that brand that my cousin with straight, fine hair could use, but it never stood a chance against my dense curly hair. I really appreciate that Suave is making a line of products for people with natural textured hair at a very affordable price. This Suave Professionals for Natural Hair Natural Shea Butter & Pure Coconut Oil Moisturizing Curl Conditioner detangles, softens, and enhances curls. The scent is a very pleasing coconutty aroma that I find enjoyable. The conditioner itself is infused with pure coconut oil and shea butter. However, the ingredient list does include dimethicone and petrolatum, which are two ingredients that can be damaging to ethnic hair, so I don't know how often I would risk using a product like this. But it definitely did decrease frizz and help detangle my curls. I think a product like this would be perfect when you're on a budget or in a quick bind, looking for a cost-efficient conditioner.

DOVE AMPLIFIED TEXTURES Shine & Moisture Finishing Gel, 8 fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value $6.99

I love, love, love, this Dove Amplified Textures Shine & Moisture Finishing Gel! It's a super lightweight gel that has a similar texture to aloe. I love pairing this with a leave-in conditioner or shaping butter to create an unstoppable duo. It makes my curls soft and fluffy instead of hard and crunchy like some other gels, and I also find the pump applicator to be incredibly useful when I'm layering products and my hands are all covered in various types of hair goo. It's affordable, it works, and it smells GREAT. The scent is a bit heavy. I would prefer something with a light fragrance, but nobody's perfect. Formulated with aloe, coconut oil, castor oil, and shea butter, this lightweight gel is a styler and finishing gel that leaves your hair feeling hydrated and looking less frizzy.

VITABATH Lavender & Chamomile Body Cream,  1 oz - Estimated Value $1.12 (Buy a full-size 8 fl oz for $8.99 here)

This is a repeat product, so it must be a Cocotique subscriber favorite. For me, this Vitabath Lavender & Chamomile Body Cream is very strongly scented, and since I’m not a huge fan of lavender, it's a bit much for me, so I will be passing it along to a friend of mine who happens to be a lavender fiend. She LOVES this body cream. Formulated for intense hydration with no harsh chemicals and only all-natural butters and oils, this is a quality product. If you enjoy heavily-scented moisturizers and the relaxing scent of lavender, this body cream might just be for you.

PALMER’S Cocoa Butter Formula Cocoa Butter & Biotin Length Retention 2 Step Hair Mask, 2x .5  fl oz - Full Size! Retail Value 2x $2.39

I have received Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Cocoa Butter & Biotin Length Retention 2-Step Hair Mask from Cocotique before. What a great hair mask! It left my hair feeling very hydrated, silky, and shiny. I think the price is very reasonable for a hair mask, and this is definitely a product I purchase for myself on a regular basis. I really like how portable it is. This packaging size would be easy to slip into an overnight bag or to take on the go. Not that anyone is going much of anywhere yet. It's the power of positive thinking.

The Verdict: I think this month's Cocotique box was the ideal self-care kit. There were several amazing hair products, including the Hask Deep Conditioner, the Dove Finishing Gel, the Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker, and the Palmer's 2-Step Hair Mask. All these products really worked beautifully for my curls, nourishing, hydrating, and making them look their best, all shiny, bouncy, and defined. I also received the BioSalute Hand Sanitizer, which is a perfect product for the situation we're in right now -- something everyone can use and will need. The Rael Organic Cotton Panty Liners is a wonderful period product. Super breathable and flexible for maximum wearing comfort on those days when you're feeling so much less than comfortable as your uterus decides to be a raging b*tch. There's also the Vitabath Body Cream, which is a very luxurious moisturizing product, perfect for any lover of lavender. Lastly, the Suave Conditioner -- I really appreciate this product because it shows the brand is branching out to be more inclusive to all different types of hair while also keeping their notably cost-efficient price point. With a retail value of $38.90 on a $25 box, you get a large variety of products and your money's worth.

To Wrap Up:

Can I get this box if I sign up today? No, you'll likely receive the March box but one-time boxes are usually available in the Cocotique shop for $25.
